WHAT WE WANTED
• Something planners and the public could access online
• View and create the same maps as seen in the hardcopy

HISTORY
• District Plan Application
• There were two separate maps for Zoning and
Designations.
• Symbology hard to code.
• Difficult to Edit the information
• No Online viewer
• PDF documents
• Time Constraints
WHAT IS ATLASMAPS
• AtlasMaps is an Extension developed for IntraMaps
by Digital Mapping Solutions
• Benefits:
• Incorporated current software with new technology for a
more user friendly distribution of information.
• Retain same style and symbology with both hardcopy and
online maps
WHY ATLASMAPS
• Linked into IntraMaps
• Customised to our needs
• Previously used a similar extension to create our LIM
maps
WHAT PREREQUISITES DID WE
NEED?
• Requires DMS’s Intramaps to run
• Map Manager
• Config Manager
• Atlasmaps
• Templates in Quantum GIS
(QGIS)
STEPS OF CREATION
• Installation is Undertaken by Simon Nitz from DMS
• Roughly 28 hrs
• Installing AtlasMap files
• Links with project and mapfiles
• Testing links
STEPS OF CREATION
• Create Template pages using QuantumGIS
STEPS OF CREATION
• We created a map series using ESRI’s ArcGIS.
STEPS OF CREATION
• Add layers to be viewed using Map Manager
STEPS OF CREATION
• Setup IntraMaps Module and selection layers for the
maps using Config Manager
STEPS OF CREATION
• Create the configuration files using AtlasMaps
COSTING
• Product was roughly $1500
• Work undertaken by the vendor cost $5000
• Cost of 2 staff over the period of a month
CHALLENGES & ISSUES
• The map Resolution
• Time of map production
• Timeout on multiple maps
• Displaying too much attribute information on maps
• Text labels on top of each other
• Human factor
