Welcome to our practice newsletter! Our aim is to update you on the happenings
at the dental practice, as well as featuring key dental procedures to help improve
your smile.
Briony’s London
Marathon success
Briony was very pleased to take part in the London Marathon
and complete it in a time of 4 hours and 20 minutes. Briony
was delighted to join the many thousands who can say ‘I
have run the London Marathon’. It was all for a good cause
and raised over £900.00 for the Mouth Cancer Foundation.
Briony wished to give a big thank you to all of you who
generously sponsored her.

At Wimborne Dental Health Practice, we offer
tooth whitening which is carried out at home.
This only requires three short appointments
which include creating bespoke tooth whitening
trays which are yours to keep and can be
reused when you feel you need a top up. All you
need is some more tooth whitening gel.

Anti-wrinkle treatments
Dr Claudia Horsman is a dentist with more than 20 years’ experience
and has been practising facial aesthetics since 2007; she has been
trained by Dr Bob Khanna of Harley Street.
Claudia is available on Fridays at Wimborne Dental Health Practice
and offers a free consultation to discuss your exact requirements.

Divas did it!
The Dental Divas completed the
Bournemouth Race for Life 5K on
Sunday 16th June in aid of Cancer

As from May 1st 2013, the General Dental
Council have allowed patients to get
direct access to hygienists.

Congratulations!
New hygienist
The practice would like to welcome Tina McGowan to the team.
Tina gained her hygiene qualification at Kings College, London
in 1993 and went on to obtain her Dental Therapy Diploma at
Liverpool University in 2001.
Tina works at the practice on Wednesdays and is able to offer
dental hygiene, therapy (children’s fillings, fissure sealants,
extractions) and tooth whitening.
Treatment Co-ordinator
We understand the desire for our patients to have the
choice for privacy and confidentiality when discussing
their treatment requirements, therefore we have Gemma,
our dedicated Treatment Coordinator, to be able to go
through your treatment options, finance and answer any
questions or queries you may have.
Gemma also offers a free consultation to discuss the
possibility of future treatment requirements, liaising with
the dentist as necessary.
Well done to Becky and Heather for
passing their NVQ Level 3 in dental
nursing exam.

move Chris, his wife Harriet and sons;
Gabriel and Benjamin from Oxfordshire
down to sunny Broadstone.

Surgery 3 Refurb
During the summer holiday 2013 we
were busy in Chris’ surgery fitting new
units and optimising the work space. It
looks fantastic and is roomier for staff
and patients. All of our surgeries are
also air-conditioned for your comfort.
Sonicfil
Sonicfil, the latest advance in white
fillings have been introduced to
Wimborne. The latest technology
ultrasonically restores the tooth which
improves the seal so reducing the chance
of post-filling sensitivity and recurrent
decay. The material can be set to a
greater depth than previous white fillings
materials, so it improves your dental
experience.

Chris is obviously delighted to be reunited
with his family (most of the time!) and they
are all very excited to be continuing this
new chapter in their lives.
Our training to deliver first class care
At Wimborne Dental Health Practice, Briony Wood recognises the need to help
her team to continue with their professional development. As well as
undertaking new and exciting courses, our team regularly has in-house
training at the practice.
• Kirsty and Gemma are working towards their Oral Health
Educators qualification. This will enable them to give in-depth
oral health advice.
• Kirsty and Gemma also attended a sedation course which
has enabled them to gain experience to be able to assist
Briony with treatments under sedation.
• Briony, Vicky, Gemma and Sarah attended the
Association of Dental Implantology conference in
May 2013, helping them to keep abreast of the
latest implantology developments.
• Briony has also attended the European
Association of Osteology’s annual
conference in Dublin, (giving more
up to the minute developments in
implant dentistry) and the sedation
refresher course run by the Society
of Advancement of Anaesthesia in
Dentistry.
• Briony was honoured to be elected
chairman of the Dorset Independent
Practitioners group.
