through the terraces, create a comforting environment.
Commissioned by Singapore’s government with all design
being provided by Singaporean architect offices, the project
presented a major challenge for Shimizu, which lacked
any record of medical facility construction in Singapore.
To connect the new building to the
existing hospital building on the
opposite side of a two-lane road,
Shimizu constructed a connecting
bridge using huge precast reinforced
concrete (PC) forms.
Nevertheless, the Company utilized its comprehensive
capabilities based on its many experiences in Japan and
abroad to successfully complete the project.
The building demonstrates Japan’s construction technology
in the medical field and represents an important first step in
Shimizu’s global business expansion.
