At Graceland, they will go on an exciting journey and discover what life was like at home for the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll and how his unique sound and style changed music and pop culture forever. “I SHOT ELVIS” PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBIT Coming in 2015 to Sincerely Elvis Elvis was one of the most photographed celebrities in history and Graceland’s archives houses over 50,000 images. This special exhibit will explore the photographers that captured shots of Elvis from the time he was an unknown kid trying to make it big, to some of his biggest concerts in the 1970’s. See Elvis through the eyes of the photographers as they chronicled the personal life and career of one of the biggest entertainers of all time. NEW ELVIS: THAT’S THE WAY IT IS VIP EXHIBIT Coming in 2015 as part of the VIP Tour In summer 1970, Elvis was the hottest show in Vegas, and MGM cameras followed him during a four-week engagement at the International Hotel to capture footage for an upcoming concert film. The crew shot not only Elvis performing on stage, but footage of Elvis in the studio, in rehearsals and having fun backstage with friends. “Elvis: That’s The Way It Is” was released in theatres nationwide in November 1970 and has since become a favorite among fans. NEW NEW GRACELAND ARCHIVES EXPERIENCE After your tour of Graceland Mansion, enjoy a live presentation hosted by a Graceland archivist that will showcase a special artifact from the Graceland archives collection. Hear stories, see related items, and have the opportunity to ask questions and get in-depth information from an Elvis expert. Exhibits subject to change. ELVIS PRESLEY’S HEARTBREAK HOTEL Elvis Presley’s Heartbreak Hotel is conveniently located just across the street from Graceland Mansion. This unique Elvisthemed hotel offers numerous amenities to make sure your group’s stay is memorable. While at Graceland, your group can enjoy a meal or dessert at Chrome Grille, Rockabilly’s Diner or the Shake, Split & Dip Ice Cream Parlor on their own. Menu items are individually priced and include Memphis barbecue, cheeseburgers, chicken sandwiches, Elvis’ favorite peanut butter and banana sandwiches and more. Graceland also offers several group dining options. Group meal reservations are required for dinner (with deposit) and suggested for lunch. CHROME GRILLE RESTAURANT DINING Group meal options at Chrome Grille are available for lunch and dinner. Chrome Grille features southern-style plate lunches and world-famous Memphis barbecue in an automotive-themed atmosphere. Reservations are required to receive group rate. Deposit required for dinner. BOX LUNCHES Graceland also offers a group box lunch option that can be enjoyed on the motor coach or at our outdoor pavilion. Student choral and band groups are invited to rock out in their own style of music while visiting the home of the king. Space is available for performances at Graceland Plaza, located across the street from Graceland Mansion. A performance request form and additional details are available for download at Graceland.com/Education. TEACHERS TOUR FREE! Kindergarten through 12th grade teachers can tour Graceland for FREE. If you are an elementary through high school teacher at a public or private school and accompany a student group to Graceland, present one of these items for your free Platinum Tour ticket (advance reservations required): • Valid school ID • Recent check stub • Dated letter on school letterhead stating that you are a teacher at that school. If you are a teacher and will be visiting Graceland without accompanying a group, you may send one of the above items to the Graceland Reservations Department at least 14 days prior to your visit, and you will receive a certificate for a free ticket. GRACELAND EVENTS CALENDAR AND SCHEDULE SCOUT DAY AT GRACELAND March 21, 2015 • March 19, 2016 Scout Day is an annual spring event that welcomes hundreds of Boy and Girl Scouts to Graceland for the chance to earn achievements toward ranks or pin/belt loop/merit badge requirements in subjects such as art, music, citizenship, American heritage and more. ELVIS WEEK August 10-16, 2015 • August 11-16, 2016 Elvis Week is a special weeklong festival that celebrates Elvis’ music, movies and legacy. The week is filled with concerts, dances, special music performances, sporting events, panel discussions and more. GRACELAND LIGHTING CEREMONY November 20, 2015 • 2016 Date TBD Graceland kicks off the holiday season during a special lighting ceremony that flips the switch on Elvis’ traditional Christmas lights both inside and outside of the mansion. The ceremony includes a special guest each year and a visit from Santa Claus, decked out like the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll. CHRISTMAS AT GRACELAND November 20, 2015 – January 8, 2016 November 18, 2016 – January 8, 2017 Tours of Graceland decorated for the holidays like Elvis used to do can be enjoyed starting the week before Thanksgiving through Elvis’ birthday in January. The traditional decorations include his display of hundreds of blue lights along the driveway, a life-size Nativity scene, a Santa sleigh and reindeer on the north lawn, and the house decorated throughout with Christmas trees and decorations. ELVIS BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION January 7-10, 2015 • January 7-10, 2016 Fans from around the world gather in Memphis each year to celebrate Elvis’ birthday on January 8. Special events planned during Elvis’ birthday include a dance party, Graceland trivia tour, concert event, panel discussion and more.
