WELCOME EVERYONE WHATS EVERYONE TALKING ABOUT !!! “KIDS ATTENDING SCHOOL HUNGRY IN OUR COMMUNITY”. THATS RIGHT AND WITH YOUR SUPPORT TODAY THE COMMUNITY HAS INVESTED IN THE FUTURE !!! SO LETS KEEP TALKING Program Sites BREAKFAST King George School Betty Gibson School Kirkcaldy Heights School SNACK & LUNCH Earl Oxford Middle School Riverheights School Meadows School, J.R. Reid School George Fitton School, O’Kelly School Riverview School, Linden Lanes School Green Acres School, St Augustine School Valleyview Centennial School Food For Thought came about in the fall of 1997 as a result of a group of concerned community leaders who responded to an opportunity presented by the Canadian Living Foundation/Breakfast For learning and the Eaton Community Partner Program Whereby funds were allocated to Brandon to address the issue of children going to school hungry. A pilot project began 2 days a week in April of 1998 at three K-8 breakfast sites. The results gave an indication that the problem needed to be addressed on a permanent basis and the sites began running 3 days a week in September of 1998 until June of 2000. On October 2nd, 2000 the 3 breakfast sites, King George School, Betty Gibson School and Kirkcaldy School all began operating 5 days per week. The program currently provides breakfast for upwards of 150 children per day including the additional Emergency Snack Programs (which provides emergency food throughout day). THANKS TO TIM HORTON’S FOR THE GREAT COFFEE AND ALSO TO KUIPERS BAKERY FOR THE LOVELY SELECTION OF FRESH MUFFINS WE WERE ABLE TO START OUR DAY WITH A COMPLIMENTARY BREAKFAST.
