volunteering with the Peconic Land Trust! Meet others who want to give back to
the community and who share your enthusiasm for Long Island’s working farms
and natural lands. Opportunities to volunteer on the North and South Forks will be
discussed, with activities that suit a wide variety of interests.

Watercolor Classes at the Garden

Develop your inner artist at this series of watercolor classes led by professional artist, Lois Bender.
Workshops are perfect for both beginner and experienced artists. Learn how to capture a variety
of subjects and explore various themes. One-on-one guidance is provided by Lois, including the
development of drawing skills.

Carnivorous Plants with Matt Kaelin

Carnivorous plants are found around the world and many call Long Island home. To learn
more about these delicate plants, please join us as we host author, artist, and carnivorous plant
specialist Matt Kaelin for a presentation featuring his photography depicting their rich colors and
macabre beauty. Learn about local varieties along with the major threats to their survival and
the conservation work being done to ensure their existence. Matt’s upcoming book, The Sinister
Beauty of Carnivorous Plants, is scheduled for release by Schiffer Publishing in May 2016.

Starting Seeds at the Farm
Quail Hill Farm, Deep Lane, Amagansett
Extra hands are needed! Please join us for a seeding workshop and help the farm get a head
start on this year’s crops. We’ll work side-by-side with Farm Director Scott Chaskey and Farm
Manager Layton Guenther to plant a variety of seeds in the trays destined for the greenhouse
and learn about the importance of compost. All participants are invited to return on May 21 to
transplant the seedlings into the fields of the Farm.
Free! Rain or shine. Please park on Deep Lane, reached via Town Lane or Side Hill Lane, and
meet Scott and Layton at the farm’s workshop.

Association, and learn the basic steps to spring pruning of your deciduous and evergreen
trees and shrubs. Jackson will present information and lead a guided walk with our Garden
Manager, Rick Bogusch, to identify and explain proper techniques, timing of pruning for
various plants, and general tree and shrub management. Bring your questions for discussion.

Celebrate Earth Day by joining the team that is revegetating the New Suffolk Waterfront using

plants in the landscape and will guide the planting, which will include native grasses and
