He opened Douglas Kenyon Incorporated (DKI) in 1969 in Chicago to address the need for archival framing and restoration of works on paper. DKI soon became successful enough for Mr. Kenyon to pursue another passion: exhibiting and selling fine art. After 23 years in Chicago he sold his gallery on Michigan Avenue to follow his dream to live out West. Mr. Kenyon relocated to Steamboat Springs, Colorado where in 1993 he founded the Two Rivers Gallery in the historic downtown district of Steamboat. Two Rivers Gallery specialized in the Art of the American West including fine western paintings, photography, works on paper and cowboy collectibles. Two Rivers Gallery closed in 2006 marking the end of a chapter. Featured in this auction is a selection of decorative L.A. Huffman (after) hand colored photographic murals. These iconic images, depicting cowboys and Indians living and working, document the untamed western landscape. Also included in the collection are cowboy collectibles, original western silver prints, Audubon and McKenney & Hall lithographs, botanicals, western movie posters, folk art, horn furniture, and decorative hand colored photographic reproductions representing quintessential western imagery. Mr. Guercio was set to produce a feature film so he went looking for a home in California for his growing family. Mr. Guercio fell in love with a furnished stately Hacienda set on 70 acres resplendent with 400 year old oak trees, in Thousand Oaks just 35 miles from downtown Los Angeles. The estate was designed by the nationally renowned architect, Paul Williams, as a working farm in the tradition of the early California landowners. Staff members are available at our pre-sale exhibitions to advise prospective buyers on particular objects or on any aspect of the bidding process. Estimates Leslie Hindman Auctioneers, Inc. provides catalogue descriptions and pre-auction estimates for each lot included in the sale. These estimates are a guide for prospective bidders. They are not definitive. All pre-sale estimates are subject to revision. Condition Reports We are happy to provide a condition report for lots with a low estimate of $300 and above. Nevertheless, intending buyers are reminded that condition reports are statements of our opinion only, and that each lot is sold “AS IS,” per our Conditions of Sale, as outlined in the back of this catalogue. All lots should be viewed personally by prospective buyers or their agents to evaluate the condition of the property offered for sale due to the highly subjective nature of condition reports.
