The Rocori Trail, which eventually will link the Lake Wobegon State Trail and St. Cloud to the Glacier Lakes State Trail, running from Paynesville to Willmar, has started construction between Cold Spring and Richmond, including over the Sauk River. Paynesville Press - 2012 Central Minnesota Lakes Area Guide 11 cold spring ROCORI DID YOU KNOW? •The Sauk River meanders for 120 miles in Stearns County – including through Richmond, Cold Spring, and Rockville –before emptying into the Mississippi River near St. Cloud. The Sauk River Chain of Lakes is a series of lakes south of Richmond and Cold Spring formed by the river. Over 40 lakes lie within 10 miles of Richmond. •The Cold Spring Springers have made a record 48 state tournament appearances in the Minnesota Amateur Baseball Association, including seven Class B state titles. They qualified for the state tournament for 22 seasons, which is also a record. The Richmond Royals, who play in the well-known Stearns County League, have made nine state tournament appearances, including being state runner-up in Class C in 1998. The Cold Spring Rockies, a Class C team, have played at state three times, including 2008. •Rocori High School, formed in 1967, combines the communities of ROckville, COld Spring, and RIchmond. The Rocori Spartans have more than 40 state appearances and have claimed six state titles: baseball, 1992; boys’ track, 1992; boys’ basketball, 1988; girls’ track, 1987; baseball, 2010; and football, 2012. Legendary coach Bob Brink, now retired has taken the boys’ basketball team to 13 state tournaments in his 40+ years of coaching. Wrestling is next for Rocori, with 10 state tournament appearances. The Spartans also have six runner-up finishes at state: football (1977 & 1991); girls’ basketball (1987); baseball (1991); and girls’ golf (twice, including in 2000). • Homemade Soup • Salad Bar Located at the Rich Spring Golf Course Come by boat, Docking available!
