Intersect, Vol 6, No 2 (2013)
Letter from the Editors
Dear Readers,
Welcome to the Volume 6, No. 2 Spring 2013 issue of Intersect: The
Stanford Journal of Science, Technology and Society, our final publication
of the academic year and our last edition as Editors-in-Chief.
Working on Intersect these past two years has been an incredibly
wonderful and rewarding experience. When we first joined as editors, the
journal, run by one editor and one advisor, mostly served Stanford
students. With many changes in the world of online publishing, Intersect
has adapted strongly. Intersect is now international, quarterly representing
student work in Science, Technology and Society studies and is being
cited by other scholars, based on Google Scholar. Further, Intersect is a
public, open-access journal that spreads innovative STS research to the
field’s scholars and enthusiasts. The potential of online journal publishing
is exciting, fruitful, and necessary for modern education and research.
We wish to give a huge thanks to the vision and mentorship of Professor
John Willinsky. His work on creating public access to research is
admirable, inspiring, and progressive. We would also like to extend a
special thanks to the following people, without whom this journal would
not have been possible:
