Monte-Carlo International Showjumping
June 25th to 27th, 2015
Longines Global Champions Tour 10th edition
in Monaco !
The Monte-Carlo International Showjumping celebrates its 20th anniversary and signs its 1Oth
participation in the Longines Global Champions Tour. Glamorous leg of the circuit, this unique
showjumping competition, nestled under the back-drop of the Prince’s Palace, will welcome the
world’s best riders for three days of competition on the Port Hercule, from June 25th to 27th. Supported
by HSBC Private Bank (Monaco) SA, this 10th edition promises, one again, great sport’s emotions in
a prestigious location.
Created in 2006, the Longines Global Champions Tour, which can be
compared to the horse version of the Formula 1 world championship, is
an international circuit around the world during the summer season, in
incredible places, from Miami beaches to Doha through the Champ de
Mars in Paris and the Olympic Stadium of Rome. This circuit, coveted by the
world’s best riders of the discipline, as well as Olympic champions, world
champions, world cup winners, had bet, since its creation, on the magic
of Monte-Carlo.
A choice surely explained by the unusual landscape offered in the Port
Hercule, on the Quai Albert 1er and underneath the famous Rocher des
Princes of Monaco. The place is clearly peculiar: showjumping horses’ elite
evolves among the luxurious yachts and beneath the prying eyes of the
passersby. A true equestrian stadium is installed for the occasion, at the
very heart of the port close to the stables facing the Mediterranean sea.
Each leg of the Longines Global Champions Tour is driven by high level
classes, during three days, with the culminated Grand Prix endowed 300
000€ (approximately 100 000€ for the winner). Points earned are used to
establish an overall ranking. Thus, at the end of the circuit, the best eighteen
riders share a purse of € 1,000,000. Only thirty best world’s riders are invited
to this prestigious event.

Such a competition guarantees the excellence of the
riders. The audience will appreciate the presence of
Scott Brash, world number 1, team European champion
and Olympic champion with Great Britain, circuit winner
in 2013 and 2014. Winner of the Monaco 2014 edition,
Bassem Hassan Mohammed will come back to defend
his title against riders who whish to maintain their position
in the provisory ranking of the circuit such as Portuguese
Luciana Diniz, actual leader, Swiss Pius Schwizer, second,
or American Kent Farrington, winner of the Hambourg leg
and positioned 4 in the provisory ranking of the Longines
Global Champions Tour. On the French side, the audience
will have the opportunity to encourage their best riders
Kevin Staut, Simon Delestre and Pénélope Leprévost.
Around the sand arena where the competition takes
place, the lodges welcome crowned heads and great
fortunes came to attend the classes. Beyond the warm-up
arena, exponents Village’s shops stand, where, between
two classes, the spectators can walk around and run into
showjumping champions.
A great program on the horizon for three days animated
by the same equestrian passion with the amateurs classes
during the day and high-level ones in the evening.
Spectators looking for thrills will not want to miss, under
any circumstances, the highlights of the week-end:

Longines Pro-Am Cup Monaco
This team class is sponsored by Charlotte Casiraghi, herself in competition under the colors of Gucci
in tandem with Edwina Tops-Alexander, victorious of the class last year. Therefore, on Friday, June 26,
after the classes counting for the world ranking and for over an hour and half, the teams will compete
on a course specially designed for the event by the course designers. Each team, sponsored, will
gather a professional and an amateur. In the first part, after walking the course, amateurs will begin
on a 1,30m class. Each one will pass on the baton to the professional rider of the team. The duo that
recorded the fastest time will win the big competition Longines Pro-Am Cup.
This union between professionals and amateurs brings a more festive dimension to this competition
and the biggest and famous brand now associate their names to this class. For the third time in a
roll, the Swiss watchmaking brand Longines has decided to sponsor the competition.
Before the big final on Saturday, the Friday evening promises a heated atmosphere and a breathless
suspense that should mark this 10th edition of Longines Global Champions Tour Monte Carlo.
