Then in 1958, inventors Arthur K. Melin and Richard Knerr trademarked the name “Hula Hoop” and modified its pre-existing materials into a toy made of plastic tubing. Since the prefabrication of multicolored Hula Hoops, Loopy Hoopy has taken the “plastic toy” hoop to the next level by offering thousands of various options to create a unique handmade one-of-a-kind customized Hula Hoop. With our strong team of professionals, Loopy Hoopy has taken each manager’s expertise and has incorporated into a site to provide the best customer service. Now, Hula Hoop enthusiast whether a beginner or advanced have a single site to create their very own customized hoop. Loopy Hoopy provides the following services: For beginners, flow artists (gymnasts, swimnastics, dancers, and entertainers), sport, and fitness Variety of standard and mini size, and weighted hoops Available in fabrics, ribbon, tapes and LED’s 3 LOOPY HOOPY TEAM BIOGRAPHIES Developed a passion for Hula Hoops became founder of Duval Hoops. The new hooper group will include the preschool to preteen age user with brightly colored tapes and hoops. The base hoop will be moderately priced for standard hoops with fabrics and ribbons. This group will be encouraged to revisit the site with discounts. Loopy Hoopy will try to establish a strong customer base with the experienced hooper. This target group will most likely show an interest in customized high end hoops with LED enhancements. Due to the amount of time necessary to customize these hoops, the prices will be higher to reflect the additional resource time but incentives and free shipping will be offered to return customers. 8 Financial Considerations The company will market its products to the new and advanced hooper as well as the flow artist involved in the gymnastics, swimnastics and entertainer industry. Keys to Success Expertise of staff familiar with hooping to assist during manufacture and design Dedication to quality product by hands-on testing Niche market for custom hoops with limited producers 9 COMPANY HISTORY In 2015, Brian Harris, Christina Vercruysse, Donna Page and Gawain Bracy founded the Loopy Hoopy Company (LHC). LHC opened for business on January 9, 2015 as a four-person shop, located in Jacksonville, Florida. Our specialty is manufacturing custom hula-hoops for a vast array of clients. Over the years, we have worked with fitness enthusiasts, flow artist, entertainment productions and everyday hula-hoopers. During the peak summer months, we employ up to eight skilled fabrication technicians. Our workforce is made up of personnel who enjoy building custom hula-hoops while taking pride in their work. Two weeks after opening the company, we formally added graphics arts division to further enhance our ability to offer complete custom Hula-hoop construction service from a single contractor. Our company’s main focus is on building quality relationships with our clients and employees. Over the years, we have formed relationships with clients that we hope to continue to nurture throughout the years to come. In the competitive hula-hoop industry, our policy has been to provide high quality hoops at the lowest price possible. We are dedicated to continuing our low cost operations, and to passing those cost savings on to our clients. With this team in place, we look to the future and we are excited about building relationships with future clients, as well as nurturing those relationships that we have formed along the way. Loopy Hoopy is faced with the exciting opportunity to provide a one-stop shop for all Hula Hooping mediums verses a single type, pre-made hula-hoop. The overwhelming popularity of Hula Hooping, combined with the growing interest in fitness and the use of the Internet to find products at the touch of your fingertips, has been proven to be a winning combination for our business. All four target markets for the Loopy Hoopy service are growing at an extraordinary fast pace. Loopy Hoopy is faced with a large number of potential customers (experienced and beginners) who seek our services. Whether the hooper is a beginner or an enthusiast, rest assured, the custom hula-hoop that they chose to have made, will be a unique one-of-a-kind creation. To expound further on the uniqueness, the customer can choose a name to appear in the inside of the hoop followed by a date of birth. In our first year, we expect to generate $23,750 in total revenue however; startup fees will nullify profits during the first year. In 2016, the company’s expected growth is $26,125 in revenue with a profit margin of 4.3%. We attribute this significant gain in profit margin to employee retention and more efficient systems. However, we attribute the increased margin in 2015 to the fact that this was the first year in which we employed a full-time graphic arts division. Graphic arts generally give a much higher return than hula-hoops. 10 PRODUCT / INDUSTRY DESCRIPTION Loopy Hoopy is an independently owned Hula Hoop business that supports hoopers in their fitness, fun dance and recreation with a unique customized Hula Hoop from a choice of fabrics, ribbons, tapes and LEDs. The initial intent of the owner was to share that passion and provide custom hoops that fit other hooper’s style and personality. Since Loopy Hoopy’s inception, business has reached beyond our expectations and customers have been impressed with our varies options to provide them with a unique one-of-a-kind hoop, but we need to focus our efforts on implementing the strategies, programs, and tactics outlined in the original business plan. E-Marketing Object Differentiating ourselves from the traditional mass production of Hula Hoops found in supercenters like Wal-Mart, Target and K-Mart has given us the ability to effectively compete on the fitness, dance, sport and recreation of Hula Hooping side of the business with the already entrenched competition. Sales are brisk and above anticipated projections. Loopy Hoopy sales are only offered through internet services and business has rapidly grown and accepted by individuals, various organizations, dance and fitness studios. Hoopers love the idea that they have thousands of different options to create their unique one-of-the-kind hula hoop whether it be fabric, LED, ribbon, tape and weighted. Market Summary Loopy Hoopy is faced with the exciting opportunity to provide a one stop shop for all Hula Hooping mediums verses a single type, pre-made hula hoop. Whether the hooper is a beginner or an enthusiast, rest assured, the custom hula hoop that they chose to have made, will be a unique one-of-a-kind creation. To top off the uniqueness, the customer can choose a name to appear in the inside of the hoop followed by a born date. 14 Target Market Summary Loopy Hoopy intends to provide the highest quality in hula hoops currently out on the market. We understand the importance of having the best materials, an array of options and different sizes to suit all ages, providing our customers a satisfaction guarantee. Nowhere currently in the industry offers the finishing touch of truly customizing the hoop by branding the customer’s or an intended recipient’s name and born date (date the hoop was created). To increase our niche in the Hula Hoop market, Loopy Hoopy will offer organizations with discounted pricing when orders of six or more have been requested. We also intend to offer special rates to schools to keep our children fit and engaged. We believe that our products are unique and the customers that will be attracted to our site will see the difference between us and our competitors. The difference is our end product. Each hoop is made with heart-felt passion. We understand that each order placed has meaning to the person ordering it. Therefore, we want to create the hoop that the customer envisions and hope that it more than they expected when they receive it. Target Market Growth: Sport and fitness hoopers continue to grow at a steady pace, at nearly 4% Dance hoopers are becoming an important part of Hula Hooping since it is becoming an acrobatically form of art in which continue to add value, growing at 6% Fun and Recreation remains at a steady 3% Beginners too are becoming an important part of Hula Hooping since many have taken up the art form either in dance, sport or fitness, growing at 2% 15 Market Demographics Loopy Hoopy can be divided into two groups. The first group is experienced Hula Hoopers who are either hoopers performing in dance or sport and fitness which Loopy Hoopy would expect a more customized hoop choosing from the fabrics, ribbons, weighted and LED’s. This group would be more teen to thirty based users and would most likely be repeated customers or customers providing referrals to our site. The second group is not as familiar with the Hula Hoop. These would be the beginners and fun and recreational users. This group is general made up of preschool to pre-teen who are just getting familiar with or taking up the interest in Hula Hooping. This group is most likely to choose from the tapes made of identi, cloth or anti-slip and LED’s since most do not want to invest in a higher price hoop. The company will market its products to the new and advanced hooper as well as the flow artist involved in the gymnastics, swimnastics and entertainer industry. By establishing a Facebook page, the company hopes to spark interest in their products through social networking. The company will also sponsor events at regional hooping conventions to have a local presence in the surrounding communities. The initial year, the Company will produce approximately 300 hoops with additional sales in accessories such as tapes and fabrics. The production is expected to increase by 10% in the second year to 330 hoops and then to 363 hoops in the third year. It is estimated that sales will increase by approximately 10% each year based on growth experienced by similar competitors in the market. Other competitors have indicated growth at 30% each year so we are being conservative in our estimate of 10% growth. It is forecasted that we will sell approximately 50% of our basic hoops to the beginner market with the remaining 50% hoops sold in the advanced and custom market. Approximately, 150 basic hoops will be produced to satisfy the demand by the beginner and large sales to schools and fitness classes. Basic hoops will start at $25 per hoop, which is slightly higher than most retailers in the market. However, the additional price will be attributed to basic customization with fabric, ribbon or tapes. Hoop prices will most likely average around $35. The price point for advanced hoops will range from $35 -$75 dollars per hoop with an expected average price of $60. It is expected that production of the advanced hoop will be around $75 in the first year. Although, the advanced hoops are smaller in size, the price differences will be attributed to higher quality tapes and fabrics. The Experienced Hooper will also help with product design for the coming year as they customize each hoop. It is estimated that production of LED hoops will be small initially as the company grows in reputation and size. Predicting small production of approximately 50 LED-Basic hoops and 25 LED-Advanced hoops. The price point for the LED hoops will range from $65 to $500 dollars per hoop. The average price for LED-Basic will average $120 with the LED-Advanced estimated at $250 for the purposes of the revenue forecasting. Each of the development pages are attached with a brief description describing processes that were taken to build each page that the customer ultimately sees. The end product from the development pages are also attached as a quick reference. The Weebly Layout Engine lets you add content to pages, blog posts, and other areas using blocks. By using different combinations of blocks and adding your own content, you can create pages for nearly any purpose. 26 CONTENT DEVELOPMENT CONT’D Basic Information Settings allows you to set a Site Type, Site Subject, and Site Description, allow for indexing by Weebly, and add your business information. Some templates display this information on your site. A site map is a list of URLs on a site that tells search engine crawlers about the structure of its content. Loopy Hoopy site comes with a site map, so you don't need to create one manually. It includes the URLs for all pages on the site and image metadata for SEO-friendly indexing. Add products to a Products Page to create a Loopy Hoopy ecommerce store. There are restrictions for the number of products you can add to your site based on your billing plan. 27 CONTENT DEVELOPMENT CONT’D Product variants are variations of a product with different attributes like size or color. Adding variants is the best way to offer customers choices for a product using drop-down menus. You can create variants for new and existing products. Each variant has its own SKU. A single product can have up to 100 variants. Multiple images will display as thumbnails. This design can be customized with the Style Editor. It's not possible to associate specific images with variants. Selecting a variant from a drop-down menu won't change the featured image. 28 CONTENT DEVELOPMENT CONT’D Use text links to link to other pages in your site, external pages, files, email addresses and Phone Numbers. 29 CONTENT DEVELOPMENT CONT’D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MinNS-2D-jo 30 CONTENT DEVELOPMENT CONT’D 31 CONTENT DEVELOPMENT CONT’D 32 CONTENT DEVELOPMENT CONT’D 33 CONTENT DEVELOPMENT CONT’D 34 CONTENT DEVELOPMENT CONT’D Key Stakeholders: Gawain Bracy Brian Harris Donna Page Christina Vercruysse Departments affected: Loopy Hoopy Company (LHC) Request Sponsor: (VP accountable for project) Christina Vercruysse, Director of HR & Finance Sponsor signature: 35 How to Make a Hula Hoop(s) Here you will find everything you need to know about how to make hoops for adults and children, dance hoops, travel hoops, collapsible and LED hoops. Making Hoops Here are six simple steps and supplies you will need: 1. Buy Tubing Flexible PVC pipe or tubing, found in plumbing departments of large hardware stores. Most large stores offer coils of 100 feet. You can make approx 8-10 hoops from one coil. The size and weight of the tubing is covered below. All countries do not have the same size and numbering system for flexible piping. This information covers supplies available withing the U.S. In addition to flexible piping, you will also need to buy, connectors and tape. 2. Measure and Cut Measure and cut the tubing with a pipe cutter (shown in the photo above or use another sharp instrument the store recommends) 3. Heat Heat one end of the pipe at a time with boiling water as seen in the photo on the left, or use a portable hair dryer to heat each end. If you use water, dip the end of the pipe into the boiling water for 30-60 seconds. If you use a portable hair dryer, hold the dryer on full heat close to the end of the connector for 30- 60 seconds. The air should blow inside the pipe. This will soften the end of the pipe enough to slip the connector inside the pipe. Beware not to melt the end of the pipe by holding the dryer too close to the end of the pipe. 4. Add Connector Insert a plastic connector into one end of the pipe at a time, (the connector must be the same size as the pipe 3/4 or 1/2 in) then heat and connect the other end until the ends of the pipe meet together. 36 5. Cover Connector Cover the connection with black electrical tape by cutting one small 3 inch piece of tape to wrap around the connection point. This is just to cover the connecting point with black tape, the same color as the black pipe. 6. Tape Tape the hoop with gaffers tape of multiple colors. Many people use two types of tape, one that is cloth, for the hoop to have better grip, and one glitter or shiny tape sold at online stores such as identi tape, see link below for detailed video instructions. Always use the cloth tape last. Congratulations! You Now Have A New Hoop. See below for further pipe/tubing and tape details: Bling Versus Cloth Tape The shiny tape is less forgiving and will not stretch to cover minor spacing errors made with the shiny tape. Cloth tape will stretch therefore should always be place on the hoop last, to stretch around any spacing inconsistencies from the shiny tape. Add Friction To The Hoop Some people prefer sanding the pipe with sandpaper to make the surface rough rather than use tape. Shiny hoops slide on the body, cloth tape clings to the body and clothes better than shiny tape. Sanded or a mix of shiny and cloth taped hoops stick to your clothing and skin better than taping with only shiny tape. Tubing Size To Purchase For more detailed information, visit this How-to-site. Different countries may vary the type of piping. Your local hardware warehouse store should be able to direct you to a comparable product. To make large adult hoops in the U.S. start with 160 psi (pounds per square inch), 3/4 inch. To find the 160 psi, visit this website and enter this SKU 424419; for the lighter 100 psi pipe, enter SKU 424464 in the search feature. Cloth Hoop Tape Anti-slip Tape LED Hoops (How to make glow in the dark LED hoops) How To Make Collapsible Figure 8 Hula Hoops: Three additional steps to making figure 8 folding hoops. 1. 2. 3. 4. Using a slightly larger connector called a "Lasco 3/4" plastic connector (Photo A left connector). This larger connector has plastic noduels that need to be sanded down in the middle before inserting. For best results use an electric sander or drill with a sander insert to sand the center smooth. Cutting the circle in half (Photo B). Adding a 3/4 inch O ring to the connector (Photo C). This will fill the space between the connection when the hoop is folded, first into a figure 8, then in half, as demonstrated in the collapsible hoop photos above on the right. Note: Do not tape black tape over the connections. The connections need to turn when you fold the hoop. Credits are given to “How to make Hula Hoops” at www.hulahooping.com/how-to-make-hoops.html 38
