PRE-SEASON CONDITIONING RESULTS
Sophomore Garrett Leeper and junior Riley Tindell were the top performers in the
pre-season jump rope and mile run tests this year. Leeper had two misses out of 1000
jumps and Tindell raced to a photo finish just ahead of senior Orlando Lorang and junior
Ben Turker. Their times were 5:48.1, 5:48.3, and 5:48.4. Senior Perry Taylor also broke the
six minute mark with a time of 5:53. Twenty-two players participated in this year
pre-season conditioning. We were able to use the new turf field to work on speed,
agility, and conditioning drills.

PITCHERS AND CATCHERS REPORT!!!
The OSAA now allows baseball and softball pitchers and catchers to report two weeks early. In the past, the
“rule of 2” allowed coaches to only work with two players a day in the off-season. This year, we were allowed
to work with eight players a day in the two week prior to the official start. Coaches implemented a program
created by Jaeger sports that involved rubber tubing and a long toss program. We were able to use the new
turf field to stretch out throwing arms getting prepared for the season.
COLLEGE ATHLETES
If you intend to participate in Division I or II athletics as a freshman in college, you must be registered with
and certified as eligible by the NCAA Initial-Eligibility Clearinghouse. This was implemented by the NCAA to
ensure consistent interpretation of initial NCAA requirements for incoming freshman. ACT or SAT scores are
mandatory for Division I schools. Core courses are required and are verified by the Clearinghouse. Juniors
should take the SAT test and could retake as a senior in October.
Start planning now if you plan to participate in athletics at the college level.
See your counselor for more information or if you have questions about the application process.

PANCAKE BREAKFAST
The pancake breakfast was a success. This year the breakfast was May 3 at Round Table on Barbur. We served
318 guests. The top ticket seller was freshman Max Menikoff who sold $264 worth of tickets. Evan Shreeve,
Samuel Kidoguchi, Carson Krake, Garrett Leeper and Matt Harvison were the other top sellers. Thanks goes out
to Round Table, McDonalds, and Alpenrose Dairy for supporting the breakfast. And a big thanks to Wil for all
the work he did getting items donated for the gift card sale. Thank you to everyone who was involved with
this great event.
ALUMNI GAME
Saturday, July 18 will be the date for the annual alumni games held at Wilson. A no-host bar social will be held
after the games at Toby Harris’ (89) Cider Mill/Fryer Tuck for alumni, family, and friends.
GOLF TOURNAMENT
Sunday, July 19 at 1PM, is the date for the annual shotgun golf scramble fundraiser at Meriwether National Golf
Club in Hillsboro. Save the date and a registration form will be in the next newsletter.
