Communal Table-Adrian Hale
A bit about Communal Table: Our model is simple. In order to keep
this virtual table alive and well in the real world, we host dinner
parties inspired by each issue. Nothing fancy, per se. Just a place to
come together, enjoy a hearty meal, and share in lively conversation.
And because we believe it’s important that writers and artists be
paid for their work, each intimate meal raises funds to pay these
talented folks to continue the conversation online. What we offer is
an overstuffed bite and the stained napkin you throw aside to jump
into the mix of people and ideas at the table. There is no dabbing at
the mouth or precious placement of genteel forks. We’d rather you
be present than polite. After all, this business of dining together.

A WEEKEND IN BEND
TWO-NIGHT STAY, MUSEUM, & RAFTING
Enjoy Bend for a two-night stay October 2-3, 2015 in a lovely home
called Sherman. Located in the heart of the Westside, Sherman
is an example of modern craftsmanship steeped in a tradition of
environmental stewardship. Built with reclaimed and salvages materials
including old telephone poles, corrugated metal from kiln sheds, and
FSC recycled antique timber vertical grain fir used for all handmade
interior doors, built-ins, and kitchen cabinets, this house is a merger of
old and new. With three bedrooms, two and a half baths, a woodstove,
and separate movie rooms with a 10’ screen and projector, Sherman
offers a break from the routine and a fine spot for hanging out at the
house, stoking the fire. Landscaping highlights include a beautiful
water feature, raspberries in the summer, green grass to play on, and a
large paver patio out back for barbecuing. More details available at:
http://www.lavabelles.com/Sherman.php
This package also includes tickets to the High Desert Museum for four
and a gift certificate to All Star Rafting for a guided white water rafting
trip for 2 on the Deschutes, Clackamas or White Salmon Rivers.
RESTRICTIONS:
The
Sherman reservation
is good for October
2nd and 3rd. No
