Members 2 for 1 on 20 January 4 Francis Durbridge is one of the best loved thriller writers that has ever put pen to paper. The Times said of him "A virtuoso of the red herring and unexpected plot twist, he could turn a victim into a villain (and back again) in less time than it took an old wireless to warm up. As cliffhanger piled upon cliffhanger, audiences were riveted, night after night for weeks." His first book Send For Paul Temple, invented the character who was to become a household name, picked up by the BBC and serialised on the radio from 1938. The iconic detective enjoyed years of international success, placing Durbridge as a leading writer of his day. In the 1940s Durbridge started writing for television. He enjoyed great success and is credited with the creation of the television thriller serial. Among his best known work was A Game Of Murder, Bat Out Of Hell and The Doll. From 1970 he returned to writing for the theatre. His seventh play The Small Hours was written in 1991 and contains all the elements of a great Durbridge thriller. 5 DIRECT FROM THE USA: THE INTERNATIONAL SMASH-HIT HHHHH HHHHH LONDON PRESS WHAT’S ON STAGE ‘5 STAR FABULOUS!’ ‘A MUST SEE’ Direct from the USA the international smash hit show New Jersey Nights comes to the UK as part of their world tour.
