Luís Leite was born on the Carnival night of 1973 in Porto and signs his work with the pseudonym Grifu.With a degree and
a master ᤀ猀 degree in multimedia, he is an animation and multimedia teacher in Escola Superior de Arte e Espectáculo
(ESMAE) of Instituto Politécnico do Porto (IPP).
He is currently a scholarship recipient of FCT for doctoral studies in Digital Media of UT Austin Portugal - Faculdade de
Engenharia of Universidade do Porto, focusing his research on virtual puppets.He is a member of Porto Interactive Center
(PIC) and affiliated in Instituto de Telecomunicações (IT / FEUP), having published articles like:"ShapeYour Body", "Virtual
Marionette", "AnimActor" or "Marionetas Virtuais".He presented his research work in international conferences like CHI'12,
IUI'12, ACE'11 and in events like Future Places, Imagens do Real Imaginado, Noite Europeia dos Investigadores.
He started his professional carrier in 1990 as a programmer, developing innovative platforms ON-LINE (BBS- Bulletin
Board Service).He continued exploring the field of audio-visual and multimedia, worked for companies like Animagro and
Miragem in the fields of animation, programing, post-production and music.He participated in the production of TV series:
"Major Alvega" (animation fiction with real image - selected for an Emmy Award), "Batatoon" (children entertainment),
"Rita Catita" (performative animation), "As Estrelinhas" (animation series); of
animation films:"História de um Caramelo" (3D animation), "Zé dos Pássaros" (2D animation); of performative arts:
"Prometeu" (shadow puppets), "Frágil" (puppets).He is interested in fields like interface drawing (HCI), interaction
methods, 2D/3D animation, virtual puppets.
