Family history is a primary contributor to a person’s overall cardiovascular health. It’s never too early to ask your doctor for an assessment. Never too soon to ask for recommendations to help. The good news, after a thorough workup at ICE, their cardiologists were able to determine that his heart was in good shape. His cholesterol was high but it was manageable through medication. Melissa’s heart felt as if a great weight had been removed from it. What a wonderful opportunity for us all to pause and reflect upon our goals for 2016. Sure, you’ve likely got several parties to attend; perhaps family coming to town; and a list of gifts to purchase... but don’t forget to put yourself on your list! Amidst all the festivities happening this December, might we suggest that you carve out some time to simply think about the direction in which you are heading with your business interests? In order to be successful, we must have a vision of where we want to be, and have a plan to get there. So, in your quiet time this month, here are three basic questions that you might ask yourself... Am I enjoying my work? Am I making an impact on my community? Am I currently the best version of myself? If your honest answer to any of these questions is no, then there isn’t a better time to shift gears and set new goals for the new year. One of the best things we have found about living and working Inside This Issue in the Ocala/Marion County area is our support for one another. We truly want to see our fellow residents and business partners succeed! So, if you’re having trouble finding enjoyment in your work, or don’t know how you might contribute to our collective vision of our entire community succeeding, or need some direction for simply being the best you that you can be, we’d like to encourage you to take a look around – there are so many leaders and thinkers here in our area that are rooting for you, and would like nothing better than to inspire you to find ways to succeed. Our wish for you (and for ourselves) this season, is to be surrounded by those who do just that. Best Wishes to all our CEP Partners, for a truly happy holiday season and a prosperous New Year! December 2015 • Partner Connections 5 Fe atur e S tor y A Spotlight on Two of Our 2015 Awards of Excellence Winners: Raney’s, Inc. and Zone Health & Fitness Medium Business of the Year Winner: Raney’s, Inc. By Sadie Fitzpatrick I t began with two cousins, some spare truck parts, and a big idea. Joel Raney, presented with the opportunity from his father to start his own business, was all in. Working alongside his cousin, Jacob Chak, they started their e-commerce site, Raney’s, Inc., in 2010 with the goal of providing quality truck parts and excellent customer service through an easy-to-use online format. Today, Raney’s has grown from two employees to more than 30 employees in just five years. They have created a dedicated customer base ranging from owner operators needing parts for their personal semi-trucks to large fleets in need of specific parts for their vehicles. “Our customers are from around the globe: Australia, Mexico, New Zealand, and Canada are some of the countries we serve. We enjoy seeing pictures of our customers’ trucks on social media once they have installed our parts,” explained Joel Raney, president of Raney’s, Inc. When they began in 2010, Raney and Chak knew little about the e-commerce world. They educated themselves about the ins and outs of the online industry, and soon needed to grow their team to include marketing, sales and customer service departments. Raney’s approach to online sales changed the landscape of the manufacturing and trucking industries. Many companies similar to Raney’s have switched their focus and have created an online component to their businesses. What makes Raney’s so popular is the ease of use for customers ordering online. It is simple and streamlined, and all products are organized by category. Customers are strongly encouraged to call the company directly in order to experience the top-notch customer service for which they are known. No matter the question or the length of time involved with a call, Raney’s representatives are dedicated to providing the highest level of customer care. Another element of their business that makes Raney’s stand out is their interaction with their customers via their social media accounts. Customers are encouraged to share photos of their trucks with their Raney’s products and to provide feedback and reviews. Their YouTube channel is filled with videos of Raney’s employees giving shout outs to loyal customers while at the same time allowing their customers to get an inside look of the day-to-day activities at Raney’s, Inc. Though their team has grown tremendously, the camaraderie and teamwork of the early days remain. At Raney’s, the focus is on working hard and having a lot of fun while doing it. The work environment is imbued with equal parts seriousness and silliness. The company recently held a Halloween contest where each department competed against one another for the titles of Best Décor and Best Costume. The team went all out in decorating their two story office buildings to closely resemble haunted mansions, and their costumes ranged from a frightening zombie to a friendly cowboy. Maintaining a culture of encouragement and celebration is Raney’s key to keeping their employees motivated. They often participate in Field Days, costume competitions, and gather to watch as employees who have reached a specific job milestone spin a wheel to win prizes. “We don’t ever want to lose our start-up vibe,” said Raney. “We don’t micromanage our employees. They understand our core values and our mission statement; we know our employees are doing an awesome job and providing excellent customer service. That’s why winning the Medium Business of the Year Award was so exciting. It was really cool to receive that trophy and have something tangible to show our team like, ‘Hey guys, your hard work is being recognized, thanks for all that you do. You’re making a difference.’” This summer, Raney’s, Inc. purchased the old Skyline building on West Silver Springs Boulevard, which will provide them with over 100,000 square feet of warehouse and office space. Joel hopes to one day make it similar to the Google and Facebook campuses in Silicon Valley complete with a gym, cafeteria and basketball court. “That’s what I love most about my job,” explained Raney. “I love working with such a great team of people who have all contributed to developing an awesome company culture here at Raney’s.” ■ For more information on Raney’s, Inc., visit their website at http://raneys.com/ or call 888-888-7990. Knowing that most people are wary of gyms because they either hate to work out or are intimidated by the gym atmosphere, Ben Marciano, owner of Zone, and his dedicated team of 70 employees created specific “zones” that each client can try in order to find the area that best fits his or her fitness needs. “We have ten different zones. You can find your zone here to get healthy and stay fit. Find the thing that you like to do, and get in your zone. As you grow more comfortable, you can move from zone to zone,” explained Marciano. Zone Health & Fitness wasn’t always the pinnacle of success that it is today. Just over a year ago, the gym was mired in financial issues, staffing problems and known for its discouraging atmosphere. Enter Marciano and his dream to own his own gym and revolutionize the health club industry. “I knew I wanted at some point to own my own gym. I’d spent 17 years running other people’s gyms, and I knew it was time for me to own my own,” he explained. While serving as vice president of the local YMCA, Marciano felt called to start his own gym. After much thought and prayer, he decided to make his dream a reality and purchased the fledgling Brick City Gym. While Marciano knew he was doing what God had called for him to do, owning a struggling gym was not without its pitfalls. “The facility was a disaster, membership had dropped, staff wasn’t happy. We were losing money left and right. At one point, my wife and I had about $1,000 in our checking account. Just when we were at our breaking point, the gym finally started to make money,” Marciano said. The gym went through a $1 million renovation, complete with new flooring, lighting, locker rooms and equipment. Zone is now the workout destination of more than 4,000 Ocalans, which is a huge increase from the 1,000 members it previously welcomed two years ago. “We have the largest class selection and schedule in Marion County,” noted Marciano. “You name it, we offer it. Most gyms are cookie cutter and about sales. I wanted to create a gym that was about programming, providing a lot of options to our members. Everybody can find something that they can do here.” From indoor cycling to CrossFit, Zone Health & Fitness has a myriad of ways to keep you interested and having fun while working out. Personal trainers are available and a full-service café is also on hand for access to nutritious meals. Marciano hopes to one day expand and have several Zones throughout Marion County. He then envisions franchising Zone and opening gyms around the country. It is his hope to one day change the December 2015 health club industry entirely. It is clear that Marciano and his team are dedicated to changing the way people view gyms. With thumping music, smiling staff members and a light and bright atmosphere, Zone is making fitness fun. ■ For more information on Zone Health & Fitness, visit their website at http:// www.zonehealthandfitness.com/ or call them at 352.509.3133. By Dr. Katarina Mizouni A QUEST FOR ANSWERS It’s in mankind’s nature to ask questions about our place in the universe. And the possibilities are thrilling. Strange sightings are increasing all around the world with no explanation. WHAT ELSE IS OUT THERE? A team of experts in Ocala, FL, is accumulating photographic evidence of Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP) of unknown origin. The UAP emit light of various colors, exhibit strange behavior that suggest intelligence, and resemble descriptions found in top-secret files declassified with the Freedom of Information Act. THE ANSWERS ARE HERE Led by Theorist Steve Nakonechny and Ph.D. Physicist Katarina Mizouni, the Ocala UAP Affiliation has started a rigorous scientific analysis of the phenomena for publication. State-of-the art technical equipment is allowing us to get closer to the truth, one day at a time, but additional studies are needed. EMBARK ON OUR MISSION Participate in Ocala UAP’s scientific study and help us get to the bottom of a worldwide phenomenon that has been amongst us since the dawn of time. We are in need of business partners to help us complete our research. Interested investor parties may contact Steve Nakonechny for more information at 352.427.3537 or [email protected]. A presentation date for serious investors will be announced. Private presentations may be available by appointment. 18 Partner Connections • December 2015 December 2015 • Partner Connections 19 Leadership NetWorks Groups Continue to Grow Canadian Meds 13 Years Serving Florida Communities No Need to Visit…Call for a Free Quote All Medicine Delivered Right to your Residence TOLL FREE: 866-250-7050 LOCAL: 352-637-4070 FAX: 1-352-387-7075 (must use a 1) In Formation By Sadie Fitzpatrick First and Third Tuesdays CEP Promoters: 11:30am (Bring Your Own Lunch) Meets @ the Power Plant Business Incubator, 2nd Floor Training Room 405 SE Osceola Avenue Captains / Valerie Hazelden (352) 425-5588 [email protected] First and Third Thursdays South Marion Network Captain / Faith Wilt (352) 602-5695 [email protected] In Formation West Marion Network Captain / Randy Ziemann 847-302-2400 [email protected] First and Third Thursdays Connecting Linx: 8:15am Group on Hiatus Second and Fourth Tuesdays Chamber Marketing & Executives Group CEMG: 8:15am Meets at the CEP 310 SE Third Street Co-Captains / Kyle Yancey (352) 286-6309 [email protected] Joel Zellner (352) 361-6123 [email protected] Young Pros Network: 8:15am Meets at CEP 310 SE Third Street Co-Captains / John Shannon (352) 282-3021 [email protected] Kristin Nast (352) 236-6445 [email protected] ■ $30.00 OFF PLUS FREE SHIPPING For First Time Customers With An Initial International Order over $150.00 VIAGRA Generic 100 mg Qty 24 ($4.00 each) . . . . . . . . . $96.00 NEXIUM Generic 40 mg Qty 100 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $92.00 CIALIS Generic 20 mg Qty 20 ($5.00 each) . . . . . . . . . . $100.00 CYMBALTA Generic 60 mg Qty 100 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $130.95 COMBIVENT 20/100 mcg Generic 3 Unit 600 DS . . . . . $144.62 ADVAIR DISKUS Generic 250/50 mcg 3 Units . . . . . . . . $166.75 FLOMAX Generic Qty 90 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .$87.21 CELEBREX Generic 200 mg Qty 100 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $83.42 Second and Fourth Wednesdays Success Partners: 8:15am Group on Hiatus Second and Fourth Tuesdays The Stiletto Network: 4pm Meets @ The Power Plant Business Incubator 405 SE Osceola Avenue Captains / Lori Dennis (352) 502-2156 [email protected] Real Technology - Real People - Real Solutions Prices Are Subject To Change SERVICES OFFERED: • TELEPHONE COMMUNICATIONS • IT CABLING INTEGRATION • LOW VOLTAGE STRUCTURED CABLING SAVE 30% - 80% • VOICE & DATA • CAT5E, CAT6E & FIBER • PAGING AND SURVEILLANCE DAN MCCALL, PRESIDENT PHONE: 352-369-1600 OCALA, FL 34470 WWW.MTGFLORIDA.COM State of Florida License No: ES12000773 20 Partner Connections • December 2015 Se Habla Espanol PAY BY CHECK AND RECEIVE AN ADDITIONAL $5.00 OFF YOUR INVOICE.
