If you register in person, you will receive a receipt of your transaction. If you register online or by mail, you will be emailed a receipt for the activities you registered for. If your program is cancelled for any reason, you will receive a phone call from the Leisure Services Department to inform you of the cancellation and your refund options. ****Register Early**** Please keep in mind most classes require a minimum number of registrants for the activity to take place. If that requirement is not fulfilled three days prior to the start of that program, the activity will be cancelled. Registration is on a first come, first serve basis and class sizes are limited. It is important you sign up early for programs to make sure you get a spot in the activity and to ensure the activity is not cancelled. Bloomfield Interfaith Association Presents Community Choral selections Wednesday, June 1st 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM The Bloomfield Interfaith Association will host an evening of worship, song and celebration. We are inviting the community to join us by contributing a choral selection or two, or perhaps a brief inspirational reading or statement. The Hartt School of Music The Hartt School is the comprehensive performing arts conservatory of the University of Hartford. The Hart School offers innovative degree programs in music, dance, and theatre. Bloomfield Authors Fair Saturday, June 4th 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM - Town Green The 2nd Annual Celebrate Bloomfield Author’s Fair is scheduled to take place on the Bloomfield Town Green on Saturday June 4, 2016 starting at 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM The event will feature a variety of authors who will showcase and sell their books. There will also be painters displaying their art work, as well as poetry reading by budding and seasoned poets. Also, live entertainment will be provided and an area for the children to enjoy various games, face painting and other activities. Celebrate Bloomfield Community Craft Fair Saturday,June 4th - 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM Calling all Crafters! The Town of Bloomfield is having a craft fair for the Celebrate Bloomfield week. The Craft fair will be held on the Bloomfield Town Green under a large tent. The Town Green is located directly across the street from the Town Hall and the Prosser Library at 800 Bloomfield Ave. We will have a variety of different crafters who will have a wide range of crafts including quilts, jewelery, pottery, and honey products. Celebrate Bloomfield May 28th - June 5th Page 5 ---Celebrate Bloomfield 2016--- CELEBRATE BLOOMFIELD POETRY EVENT Prosser Library on June 4th, 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM Yes, Bloomfield has beautiful vistas and trails, tasty restaurants, an intriguing history and, unlike other towns, a statue of a drummer boy on the Town Green. But come and enjoy one of Bloomfield’s literary assets: its concentration of recognized poets! Some may not know that Bloomfield has the longest running poetry series in the state, run by Marilyn Johnston, at McMahon-Wintonbury Branch Library. The Celebrate Bloomfield Poetry Event will be held at Prosser Library on June 4th, 12-4 pm. It has 3 parts: a reading by people who submitted poems about Bloomfield or with Bloomfield as a setting; a “Sampling of Bloomfield Poets” to showcase the many poets who have made the town their home; and an open mic where people can read poems, their own or others, on any topic. Poetry books by Bloomfield poets will also be for sale. In advance of Celebrate Bloomfield 2016, people can submit poems about Bloomfield – historical, geographical, or personal (memories, experiences, etc.). Selected poems will be published in The Journal, the Bloomfield Messenger, or on Prosser Library’s website. Everyone who submits poems, whether selected for publication or not, is invited to read their poems at Prosser Library on June 4th in the first part of the program beginning at noon. Community Dinner Under the Stars Saturday, June 4th - 6:00 PM - $ 30 / person The highlight event of Celebrate Bloomfield week will be a night of Social Hour and Dinner at the Wintonbury Hills Golf Course. A buffet dinner with wine and beer will be included with the ticket. Tickets for the event will be on sale at Town Hall and the Alvin & Beatrice Wood Human Services Center in May with more information on ticket pricing forth coming. This event is sponsored by Billy Casper Golf Management, a world renowned golf course management company who currently manages and operates Wintonbury Hills Golf Course. AuerFarm - Celebrates Bloomfield Sunday, June 5th - 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM Auerfarm has a wonderful day of fun family events planned. There will be tours of the Auerfarm facilities including the children’s, community, and Foodshare gardens, as well as the 4-H Education Center. There will also be hay rides available free of charge. Visit with Auerfarm’s animals including alpacas, sheep, cows, goats, chickens and rabbits. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase and a bake sale as well as other activities will take place. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the pavilion with picnic tables or spread out a blanket on the lawn. Join the Wintonbury Land Trust for Three Great Hikes Friday, June 3 through Sunday, June 5 Friday, June 3, 6:00 pm to Sunset: Explore Bloomfield’s scenic Seabury Wildwoods Trails, located adjacent to Seabury Retirement Community. This hike will start at the trail head of Seabury’s Wildwoods Trail at the rear of Seabury Retirement Community in Bloomfield. We will hike out to the Wildwoods Trail and explore the several trails. We will end the hike with a sunset view of the meadows and the flood-control dike. Total Distance: Approximately 2.0 miles This event is jointly sponsored with the Seabury Trails Committee. Meet at the Wildwoods Trail Head/Visitor Parking at Seabury Retirement Community. Saturday, June 4, 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm: Hike LaSalette Park and Hawk Hill and visit with the resident (Scottish) Highland cattle This hike will start at the Oliver Filley House located in Bloomfield’s LaSalette Park. From there, hikers will proceed to the Wintonbury Land Trust’s Hawk Hill property to see how the Land Trust is restoring the property to agricultural use. After visiting with the resident Highland cattle and seeing some notable trees, hikers will return to the start and experience gorgeous views of Hartford on a clear day. Sunday, June 5, 10:00 am to 11:30 am: Explore Connecticut’s newest state park: Auerfarm State Park. Afterward, you can join the Celebrate Bloomfield events at the 4-H Education Center at Auerfarm We will hike the Orchard Trail from the historic Apple Barn along Cider Hill Road to the High Orchard. Where we’ll have great views of Hartford to the east and the Seven Sisters to the north. Hikers will descend from the orchard through farm fields to the Auer Farm Road Orchard and back to the Apple Barn. There will be an optional side trip to the unique Mushroom House on the North side of Auer Farm Road.
