CELEBRATE BLOOMFIELD POETRY EVENT
Prosser Library on June 4th, 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Yes, Bloomfield has beautiful vistas and trails, tasty restaurants,
an intriguing history and, unlike other towns, a statue of a drummer boy on the Town Green. But come and enjoy one of Bloomfield’s literary assets: its concentration of recognized poets! Some
may not know that Bloomfield has the longest running poetry series in the state, run by Marilyn Johnston, at McMahon-Wintonbury Branch Library. The Celebrate Bloomfield Poetry Event will
be held at Prosser Library on June 4th, 12-4 pm. It has 3 parts: a
reading by people who submitted poems about Bloomfield or with
Bloomfield as a setting; a “Sampling of Bloomfield Poets” to
showcase the many poets who have made the town their home;
and an open mic where people can read poems, their own or others, on any topic. Poetry books by Bloomfield poets will also be
for sale.
In advance of Celebrate Bloomfield 2016, people can submit
poems about Bloomfield – historical, geographical, or personal
(memories, experiences, etc.). Selected poems will be published
in The Journal, the Bloomfield Messenger, or on Prosser Library’s
website. Everyone who submits poems, whether selected for
publication or not, is invited to read their poems at Prosser Library
on June 4th in the first part of the program beginning at noon.
To submit poems about Bloomfield, which is open to all ages,
send up to 3 poems as a Word document to Tom Nicotera at
