Volume XL, No. 35 The Banner August 30, 2016 Church Wide Breakfast September 4th Come Join Us! 9:00a.m. Fellowship Hall SEPTEMBER 4 11:00am Worship The Incredible “If” Jeremiah 18:1-11 Psalm 1 Rev. Mike Poole No Evening Service Greetings from Pastor Mike Poole…. Downhome Telling and Hearing Sunday evening August 21: the rain, rain, rain came down, down, down and the Downhome Meeting was moved from Dana Duncan’s home to the church Fellowship Hall. About 55 folks gathered with the Transition Team to share favorite ABC memories. Around tables of 6-8, members talked, listened, and gave thanks to God for a church that has enriched their lives. In fact, it seems that the whole church is buzzing with stories of good things at ABC. Telling AND hearing are equally important. If you haven’t already done so, do it now. Dig deep into your heart. What experiences have endeared you to this wonderful church? When did you feel most alive and proud to be part of ABC? Someone needs to hear your story. Tell it! The Transition Team cannot do this work for you. Their job is to help you tell and hear. In the coming days the team will make a few observations and identify a few themes from your stories. However, the BEST part is not TT work; it’s YOUR work. As you are blessed by the stories of others, what life-giving observations and themes do YOU draw. What do you hear? THIS IS ABSOLUTELY THE BEST PART. Remember: The Intentional Interim process includes working through 5 key focus issues: Heritage (currently), Mission, Leadership, Connections and Future. Throughout the entire process, the church and you will follow a pattern: the TT will introduce a point, then design a forum in which you share and hear from one another, and then YOU draw conclusions. It’s very exciting because God speaks through and to you. A super-bonus in the process is that, repeatedly you will be asked the question: what did this particular focus issue tell us about the attributes and strengths needed in our next pastor? It’s very exciting for me when I see your love for ABC and each other grow. You are seeking clarity about who you are and God’s direction about where to go from here. Both will be achieved. I’m so glad to be working alongside you in these exciting days… days of hope, future and blessing. Pastor Mike, IIM F.Y.I . . .
