WELCOME TO THE 2014-2015 SEASON
Fantastic terrain, fun and knowledgeable instructors make Caledon Ski Club a great choice for every
member of the family. We offer expert training for all ages in Alpine Skiing, Snowboarding, Freestyle and
even Telemark! The Alpine Development Program has made some significant changes to our calendar
and program offerings this year that we’d like to share with you.
As a result of the change to the calendar for the Ontario Public School system we are starting the March
Break ski programs on Monday, March 16. This change has had an impact with a few of the governing sport
bodies that we work with. Alpine Ontario will have races scheduled for the weekend of Feb 28th and March
1st which has traditionally been the date for the Club Championships. Freestyle Ontario and Association of
Ontario Snowboarders will also be running programs during this weekend. Therefore, Caledon like most, will
be running our Club Champs on March 7 and 8.
Race Programs with teams that travel to away races under AOA sanctions (U12, U14, U16 and U18) will now be
a nine week program running from January 3rd to March 1, 2015. The U10, U10 COMBI and Youth House League
programs will remain as eight week programs ending on Feb 21 and Feb 22. The Recreation and Snowboard
programs will also start on January 3 or January 4 and run for eight weeks ending on February 21 or February 22.
What this scheduling allows us to do is create a Festival Weekend of Activities for those kids in the eight week
programs which will be held the weekend of February 28 and March 1. We will have events and opportunities
for kids to try the many different aspects of the programs that we offer. A lunch voucher will be included for the
kids to enjoy a full and fun day for this event. We are looking forward to another competitive season at Caledon
Ski Club. Our U10 day and a half program was very successful last season and we will continue to offer this as it
is excellent preparation for the U12 circuit. We have expanded our one day programs to make Youth House League
and our new U10 Combi program (previously known as Free Race) available on both Saturday and Sunday. The U10
Combi program will include elements of learning park skiing along with an introduction to racing. This comprehensive
program allows our young skiers the opportunity to develop their skills across a broader spectrum of skiing and to
provide more opportunities for them in the future.
Our Adult Race Training programs will be up and running again with an emphasis on advanced skiing and an opportunity
to get into gates on a regular basis. We would like to have more Caledon adults join our exciting Adult House League on
Sunday afternoons. The team concept is what is most important in AHL, so why not come out and give it a try this season!
As introduced in our new website last year, program information and registration is easily accessible with your Member
Login. We look forward to seeing you at the Ski Swap on October 19 and then on the snow!

Early Bird Pricing! All programs are subject to adequate enrollment.
Emergency Contact Information
When registering online, please ensure your phone numbers are current. We require the cell number of the
guardian(s) who will be at the hill most frequently with your children. Remember to have your phone switched
on and check frequently, should we need to contact you.
Buddy Requests
Please note that we will do our best to have your children grouped with their friends. You can add this
request in the “notes” section when registering online. Please note that grouping is done by ability level
and we want your children to improve and have fun!
Skill/Ability Level
Students are evaluated the first day of class and may move from one level to another to facilitate a better
learning environment in order to develop their skills. Please complete the ability level to the best of your
knowledge as this will help us with the initial grouping.
Payment
Program payment is due at the time of registration. Students will not be added to the class list until

cheque, Visa or Mastercard. You will have the option to choose a payment type upon completion of

program before the student can join the class.
Missed Classes
If a class is cancelled a make-up class will be scheduled when possible. If your child is
absent for a class there is no make-up class. Due to the large number of children enrolled
and in order to ensure our students remain within a safe student/teacher ratio, we cannot
accommodate movement from one day to another or switching afternoon and morning
class times.

HOW CAN I BECOME AN INSTRUCTOR?
In order to teach or coach skiing or snowboarding anywhere in Canada
you must first become certified by one of our governing bodies.
Ski Instructors are certified by the Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance
(CSIA). There are currently over 20000 members from coast to coast.
Snowboard Instructors are certified by the Canadian Association of
Snowboard Instructors (CASI).
Ski Coaches are certified by the Canadian Ski Coaches Federation
(CSCF).
A large majority of the staff that works at Caledon and across the country
have dual certification in CSIA and CSCF. There are a growing number of
people that are dual certified by CASI and CSIA. These people are very
valuable to teaching programs as they offer more versatility.
components. You will receive the teaching information on course that
will be sufficient to be successful; however you should be at or above
the level of snowboarding or skiing prior to taking the course. Anyone
interested in becoming an instructor is encouraged to come to the ski
school or race office to set up a complimentary evaluation of their
ability as it pertains to the standard of CSIA, CSCF or CASI. We have
staff at Caledon that are certified to teach up to CSIA Level 3, CASI
and CSCF Level 2 courses.
If you are 13 or 14 years of age this season look for our Leaders In
Training program to prepare to become an instructor.

CALEDON’S TERRAIN PARK & PARK PASS
PLEASE BE SURE YOU & YOUR GUESTS VIEW AND COMPLETE THE ONLINE PARK PASS TEST BEFORE YOU COME
TO THE CLUB. Once the online test is completed, Park Stickers can be picked up at the Ski School desk at the Main
Lodge. The Park Pass test must be done every year.
Everyone age 7 and over who wish to enter the Terrain Park must watch our online video andcomplete the PARK
PASS test in order to receive a Park Sticker. Children 7 and under do not require a Park Sticker as they are not
permitted to enter the Park without a parent, guardian, responsible adult or ski/ snowboard Instructor (who must
have a Park sticker). Approved helmets are mandatory in the Terrain Park.
There is no charge and the stickers must be renewed every year!
Play it safe when you use the park. Read up and GET SMART!
Make A Plan
• Every time you use freestyle terrain, make a plan for each feature you want to use.
• Your speed, approach and take off will directly affect your manoeuvre and landing.
Look Before You Leap
• Before getting into freestyle terrain observe all signage and warnings.
• Scope around the jumps first, not over them.
• Use your first run as a warm up run, and to familiarize yourself with the terrain.
• Be aware that the features change constantly due to weather, usage, grooming and time of day.
• Do not jump blindly and use a spotter when necessary. Know your landings are clear and clear
yourself out of the landing area.
Easy Style It
• Know your limits and ski/ride within your ability level.
• Start small and work your way up.
• Inverted aerials not allowed in the Caledon Terrain Park.
Respect Gets Respect
• From the lift line through the park.
• Respect the terrain and others.
• One person on a feature at a time.
• Wait your turn and call your start.
• Always clear the landing area quickly.
• Respect all signs and stay off closed terrain and features.
Go to www.caledonskiclub.on.ca and complete our online quiz, then visit us at the Ski School Desk to get your sticker!
