are picked up the “ditch” of the garter

chart) as follows:
Diamonds
With yarn doubled and #10
needles, CO 40 sts.
Row 1 (WS): K20, PM, K20.
Row 2 (RS): K to 2 sts before marker, SKP, slip
marker, K2tog, K to end.
Row 3 (WS): Knit.
Repeat rows 2 and 3 until 2 sts are left.
K2tog, break yarn and pull through last loop
to fasten off.
Using chart for color and order placement,
attach Pink Diamonds (Diamonds 6-9)
as follows:
Interior Diamonds
With RS facing, PU and K 20 sts
along the left side of a diamond
and PU and K 20 sts along the right
side of the diamond. (Pick up stitches
in the ditches of the garter stitches.) Work as
for Diamonds above starting with Row 1.
Continue attaching Diamonds, noting special
instructions for the Edge Diamonds:
