sla Canela is a special place, tucked away in the unspoilt region of Huelva in
Andalucia. A natural island located at the mouth of the Guardiana River, to the south
of the town of Ayamonte which closely borders Portugal.
Our home is a well-appointed two bedroom, two bathroom apartment, situated just
a minutes walk to the expansive, golden sandy beach at Isla Canela. No crowds here,
there's room for everyone!
Sunsets are special on Isla Canela; step outside onto our terrace and watch the sun set
across both Spain AND Portugal. After the sun has set, uncork a bottle of local wine and
stay tuned: the lighthouse across the way in Portugal will soon beam across the night
sky, creating a romantic setting for al fresco dining. An experience you won't forget!

ur charming, well-furnished terrace is covered by the roof of the penthouse above, so you're
shaded from the heat of the midday sun. It comfortably seats six and is a smart and informal space,
where you can enjoy breakfast, lunch, sun set drinks and dinner, with family and friends.
The large master en suite bedroom has patio doors leading onto the terrace. There's a second bedroom
and shower room making our home ideal accommodation for families or couples travelling together.
POOL

ur communal pool is set in beautiful landscaped gardens. Take a dip in the aquamarine water to
cool off, after a morning at the beach, or before your afternoon siesta. It's a family-friendly pool,
which your children will love to play in.
PRIME LOCATION AND LOCAL FLAVOUR

ur charming community is so relaxing, you
might not want to get up and explore the region, but you should. Locally your just a minutes’
walk away from a selection of shops, bars and
restaurants and a just a minutes walk to the beautiful local beach, with its smattering of traditional
Spanish chiringuitos (beach bars). The local Chiringuito La Cabra is a gem (try the squid!)
Isla Canela is a seven-kilometer-long fishing beach
island resort, just outside the town of Ayamonte
in Andalucia. Gaze out at the beach and you’ll see
dozens of fishermen standing waist-high in the
sea, collecting clams to sell locally. Even holiday
makers have a go at gathering clams for their
lunch. Why don't you try too when you're there!
Andalucia has so much to offer and the untouched
province of Huelva, is one of its star destinations.
Far away from the maddening crowds, here you
can immerse yourself in the natural beauty and
scenery. From the Coto Donana National Park,
to the pine forests, freshwater lagoons and sand
dunes. Look out for the flamingos of the region.
You can see them in the wetlands behind our
apartment. Huelva is home to a great variety of
wildlife and birds.
What's more you're within a stones stones thrown
of the Algarve! Travel back in time as you cross
into Portugal for a coffee on the Guardiana ferry,
where the clock goes back an hour. Time travel
costs just 1.75 each way!

evenings with family and friends. Soft, thick cushions on the terrace furniture. Full-sized beds. Big

apartment is kept in great condition and stocked with amenities.

About Sarah
My names Sarah and I'm the owner of the
apartment. We bought it off plan several years
ago as we love visiting the area. It's a great
apartment and I spend quite a lot of time on
social media uploading videos and photos to
help people discover this coastline. I am always
online. In fact I'm quite a geek so if yes message
you your almost guaranteed of a speedy reply!!
We are one of the few apartments who are
accepted to take online payments using your
visa when you book and have wifi.

We chose Andalucia as a place to buy a holiday
home as we found the pace of life so much slower
than the UK and the people are so friendly. We
love the fact that this area still retains its Spanish
charm, unlike many of the other Costas. I fell
immediately in love with the area as it really
does feel like you are in the real Spain.
Free wifi in apartment is quite unusual as is a
smart tv but i am a geek!

Our 3rd visit and 3rd stay at Sarah's, we love the apartment and Isla Canela! First
time in high season and we were not disappointed! As said previously Sarah is an
amazing host and the postcard is a lovely reception to come home too. The WIFI and
SMART tv are an added bonus a top notch stay. Love the area and could go on and
on and on.... Contemplating a winter visit.... But most definitely be back next year too

Fantastic apartment in perfect setting

Apartment very well equipped and spotless. View is stunning from the balcony
could just here all day and watch world go by. Great location plenty of places to eat
and drink and watch the sunset after your busy day lying by the pool. Would highly
recommend a stay here

Fantastic apartment, fantastic location

This was our first family holiday abroad – with two girls, aged 4 and 7 – and it
exceeded all our expectations. The apartment was perfect in every way. Little things
like black out blinds (which meant lie-ins every day!) wi-fi and smart TV, coffee
machine, etc. made a huge difference. The location was fantastic, being so close
to the beach and all the shops and bars along the front. We often had the pool to
ourselves, which we found unbelievable during school holidays. Our girls really
enjoyed the land train, the ferry to Portugal, bike hire and exploring Ayamonte. We
would highly recommend Isla Canela holidays, we have never rented an apartment
from someone as organised and helpful as Sarah. She obviously puts a lot of work
and effort into her rental, and it was much appreciated.

Perfect in Every Way

Although our holiday didn’t quite go to plan, we couldn’t have been in safer or kinder
hands.
We arrived early on Wednesday 23rd September and were delighted with this little
gem of an apartment. Spotlessly clean, well equipped, comfortable and a view from
the balcony to die for. It was especially beautiful at sunset and we loved it!
We had four perfect days there. Isla Canela is a quiet, relaxed place with exquisite
beaches. So easy to reach the nearby Marina either by the little road train or very
reasonably priced taxis. The lovely town of Ayamonte is just a bus ride away - very
picturesque and with a bustling atmosphere.On lazy days it was just bliss to idle a
few hours away by the fabulous apartment pool.
It came as a tremendous jolt therefore when at the end of our fourth full day my
husband suffered a serious heart attack! No warning, no previous history, just bang!!
It was quite scary waiting for the ambulance - it seemed to take an age, but some
resident English people from a nearby apartment were very helpful. My husband was
in hospital in Huelva for 10 days, four of those in ICU. His treatment was excellent.
My knight in shining armour came to my rescue from day 1. Robert, the apartment
manager took me to the hospital every day - a 50 minute drive from the apartment,
and acted as my translator. He spoke to the doctors, nurses and translated
everything for me. He even kept me supplied with coffee. He was wonderful. By the
following Wednesday our friends who we shared the holiday with were on their way
home and with much sadness I left the apartment to move into a hotel nearer the
hospital. Robert was still available whenever I needed him.
We finally flew home. accompanied by a Spanish doctor on Monday 12th October.
Despite the traumatic events we were so grateful to apartment owner Sarah, who
kept in daily contact and dear Robert who I will never be able to thank enough. So
much kindness too from hospital staff. Thank goodness also for Travel Insurance!
This was a holiday we will never forget not least because of the welcoming
atmosphere of Isla Canela and the wonderful kindness of strangers who are now
friends.

The location is perfect, just a short stroll to the beach & chiringuitos. Communication
from Sarah was excellent, thanks for all the insider tips! The apartment was very

Perfect home in a wonderful area of Spain

We had such a glorious holiday in this lovely apartment with a breath taking
view over the ocean, the river and Portugal. The beach (1 minute walk from the
apartment) is one of the best I have ever seen in Andalusia and in Spain. We have
been lucky enough to be there during full moon so the tide was particularly big and
spectacular. The area around is amazing, little fishermen villages to have meals
with fresh fish and sea food. Bird watching including pink flamingo and lovely little
Andalusian town all around. Once we even saw a stork nest on top of a church
with the stork, beautiful! Sarah is the most welcoming host you can hope for. Very
efficient in helping you organizing your trip and a joy to interact with throughout the
holiday. We will certainly come back, thank you Sarah!

An absoloutely PERFECT holiday! From start to finish this has to be the best and
most organised holiday ever. Sarah was amazing in helpin gus book flight, taxi
transfgers, shopping for arrival, infomration about the area and locals....I could not
have asked for more. We were really take a back at how beautiful the area was and
the apartment was just amazing. I am OCD and this place was perfectly clean and
well equipped. Sarah and Robert (manager) assisted us during our stay and made
the holiday first class. The ppol was explicably clean, and there were plenty of
sunbeds. Children played but were respectful. I am so impressed that I have booked
another three weeks in October and the girls I went away with this time are queueing
up for weekends and weeks away with their family. Wjat I loved most about this was
the lack of ‘brits abroad’. I cannot thanks Sarah enough for making my 40th birthday
the best. I cannot wait to return. Thanks Sarah. x

Stunning property & views

Absolutely loved everything about Sarah’s apartment. It was spotless clean, in a
great location. The views are just amazing & we spent many hours sitting out on the
terrace. The pool area was spotless with plenty of sun loungers available. Beach,
bus & train stop is just across the road. We found the bus service great for travelling
into Ayamonte & the children loved their daily trip on the train! We hired a car & drove
to Villa Moura, Zoomarine, Monte Gordo, Tavira and Cartaya for day trips. Its a great
location for a peaceful, relaxing holiday & also great for day trips to Portugal as it’s
so close. Can’t wait to return. Thanks so much Sarah

Thank you for letting us stay. The apartment was lovely! We took the ferry over to
Portugal one day and had a stroll around. I can’t believe it only cost €1.75 to get to a
different country. It costs more than that to travel from my house to town on a bus!
Ha!!
We enjoyed the zoo in Ayamonte . My daughter particularly loved the baboons bums,
while my son loved the lions. They both loved the poll and running in the sea.
We danced and played on the little train every night and rode down to the marina for
dinner.
Yellowfish transfers, as recommended were great too!!! We will use them again next
time we visit,
We also took a trip to Seville one day. We had a horse and cart ride around the gown
and learnt a lot about the Spanish Inquisition. Although I have to say apart from the
horse ride I loved the fact there was a star buck!!
Hope we can stay again soon. It’s a beautiful apartment, we felt instantly at home
and the location made everything very easy with the children.
