the Regional Qualifier will receive
invitations to the National Final at
Eastbourne Downs GC on
September 13-14.

TWIN OFFICE: Dennis and Micahel Paddock may have made history this year by becoming the first twins to be captains of English golf clubs in the same year
Is this double-take a first for English golf?
NO, there is nothing wrong with your eyesight or the photo.
Brothers Dennis and Michael Paddock are captains of their
respective golf clubs this year which may be unusual but it
their case it is exceptional as they are identical twins.
Dennis is captain at the Walsall Golf Club in the West
Midlands and Michael is captain at West Byfleet Golf Club in
Surrey.
There is great rivalry between them and their children say
that any golf match between them is not a game but war. This
rivalry has extended to their clubs. In 2006, West Byfleet’s
EGCs offered special green fee at Romiley GC

centenary year, Walsall took a team to West Byfleet and got
annihilated! The following year, in Walsall’s centenary, West
Byfleet visited Walsall where Walsall got revenge and according to Dennis the centenary trophy was restored to its rightful
place! This friendly rivalry between brothers has turned the
Centenary Trophy into an annual event for the clubs.
Dennis and Michael are intrigued, as we are, to know first of
all whether any other twin brothers have been captains of golf
clubs and, second of all, was it in the same year. Does anyone
know of any others?
