2.1 Pearl Continental Hotel, Karachi - Salient Features
The venue, PC Hotel is a Five Star Hotel, centrally located opposite Sheraton Hotel & Towers in fully
secured surroundings and equipped with modern facilities of international standards. The whole complex is
centrally air-conditioned. There are two Entrance Gates on the Club Road, while Exits are through Ziauddin
Ahmed Road.
Located in the heart of the business hub and 15 km from the airport, Pearl Continental Hotel Karachi - is a

2.3 Car Parking Facilities
Facilities for limited Car Parking are available within the Hotel premises from both the entrances, while
additional Car Parking facilities are available in Baradari, accessible through Gate-2 entrance. Valet
Service is also available @ Rs 100/= per car.
2.4 Useful Information for International Exhibitors / Visitors
2.4.1 Climate
Karachi being port city has a humid climate with temperature seldom rising 40ºC in summer and falling
below 10° C in winter when cold wind blows from Quetta.
2.4.2 Currency
The Currency prevalent in the Country is Pakistani Rupee “PKR” (1 US$ is approx. equal to PKR 91)
2.4.3 Languages
The Official language is Urdu, however, all official correspondences are done in English, which is very
well spoken and understood in business circles throughout Pakistan.
2.4.4 Photography

2.4.5 Visa Formalities
Immigration Authorities at Pakistani Airports are authorized to issue 30 days Visa on Arrival
(VOA) to the businessmen entering Pakistan from 60 countries listed here under:

The Ministry of Interior is responsible for granting/extending visas to the foreigners (other than Indian
nationals whose cases are dealt by the IP & N Wing of the Ministry of Interior).
Note: The Indian nationals and the foreigners of Indian origin must request the Organizers minimum 8
weeks before the Event with the particulars and documents of the intending visitors as mentioned in
Form #1.
All foreigners are exempt from registration with the Police except the nationals of following countries as
well as such other foreign nationals who are directed by the immigration authorities to report to FRO for
registration and a stamp is affixed to this effect on their passports. Visas are required for nationals of
these countries:
Algeria, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Libya, Nigeria, P.L.O, Serbia, Somalia, Sri Lanka,
Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Yemen.

2.4.6 Customs
A non-Muslim can buy liquor in hotels authorized to sell alcohol to hotel guests and also from
government liquor shops in the main cities. Alcohol is not allowed to be imported into Pakistan. Any
alcohol found in the accompanied or un-accompanied baggage of passengers will be impounded.
Official import limits for other items are 200 cigarettes, half a pint of perfume, a camera, watch, hair
dryer, laptop computer and portable Walkman/ CD player.

3.2 Meet & Assist Facilities on arrival at Karachi Airport
Foreign Exhibitors / Delegates / Buyers / Visitors are requested to provide their flight schedule which will
enable the Organizer to provide them Meet and Assist Service at the Quaid-e-Azam International Airport,
Karachi. Please refer to Form # 2 to avail the Meet and Assist facility on complimentary basis.
3.3 Special Invitation Facilitation
To make the Event a grand success, the Event Secretariat invites members of prominent associations in
Pakistan and representatives from corporate/business sectors as corporate visitors through visitor passes.
Moreover, the International promotional campaign by the Organizer is expected to attract considerable
number of foreign buyers/visitors to attend the Event. Adequate number of Exhibition passes are also
issued to the exhibitors to enable them invite their guests. Special invitations are extended to VIPs &
prominent businessmen to visit the Event as Guests of Honor.
4. CIT Services / Facilitation for Movement of Gems & Jewellery
Arrangement has been made with M/s Wackenhut Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd (G4S) and Phoenix Armour (Pvt) Ltd
for transportation of “Cash-in-Transit-CIT” in respect of Gems / Jewellery / Gold / Valuables in sealed bags
from all over Pakistan as well as within the city to marquee Hall – PC Hotel, Karachi & vice versa. In
addition, overnight CIT services after the show time from Venue to Vault and vice versa in advance of the
show time shall be available. The details in this respect are given hereunder:

5. Money Changing, ATM & Credit Card Facilities:
5.1 Money Changing Facilities
Money changing facilities are available for all major currencies at PC Hotel lobby as well as at Sheraton
Hotel across the road for the in-house guests staying at respective hotels on production of their passports.
Money changing facilities for the Visitors not staying at the above hotels may be availed through the
Exhibitors as per following procedure:
The Exhibitors may contact Mr. Shahid of Glaxy Exchange (Pvt) Ltd upto 6:30pm daily during the Event
days on his Cell#: 0331-2333627 or Ph#: 32436114-5 and intimate the amount of foreign currency desired
to be exchanged and obtain the exchange rate. Accordingly, their representative would deliver the equivalent
PKR amount at their stalls in exchange of the foreign currency.

a. Most of the credit cards pertain to Bank Al-Falah, MCB or SCB, who could be approached by the
exhibitors directly for providing Mobile Credit Card Machines with SIM Cards for use at the Event.
b. V-PTCL phone could also be brought in lieu of SIM Card by the exhibitors on their own or be hired
through the Event Manager by paying its rental charges.
c. Jewellers not having Mobile Credit Card Machines could avail the facility through its nearby stall holders.

 Organizer shall not be responsible in case main electricity supply fails for any reason.
 All Payments to be made in advance through Pay Order/ Bank Draft in favor of Ecommerce Gateway

 The order shall not be considered confirmed unless payment is received. In case of cancellation of an
order 15 days prior to the event, 50% of the total rental payable by the Exhibitor shall be forfeited as nonrefundable deposit. In case of cancellation less than 15 days prior to the event, no refund shall be made.
 The technical details of service required, should be discussed with the Manager operations –
Ecommerce Gateway before installation.
 DSL/Internet connections and equipment as requested in the Exhibitors’ Orders will be made available
at the stall on 6th June, 2010 at 8:00p.m.
 Installed CPE / NT1 will be returned to service provider at the end of Exhibition.

2. 1,000 will be charged for relocation of the spot lights over counter showcase, if desired.
Terms & Conditions of hiring:
 All payments to be made through bank draft/ pay order in favor of Ecommerce Gateway Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd at
least 1 week before the Event.
 The order shall not be considered unless the payment is made in advance. In case of cancellation of an
order 7 days before, one quarter of the total rental payable by the Exhibitor would be forfeited as
non-refundable deposit. In case of cancellation less than 7 days prior, no refund shall be made.
