From the Mayor
Oceanside, California, located in San Diego County, offers year-round
beautiful weather and is surrounded by a plethora of natural resources
and environmental wonders. This vibrant City has a lot to offer visitors;
miles of beautiful, wide, white, sandy beaches, the longest wooden
pier along the California coast, and a recreational harbor. Oceanside is
also recognized as a green destination, known for its commitment to
protecting and preserving our natural landscapes and waterways.
Oceanside is the place to enjoy a relaxing, fun day at the beach and
still have time to explore the history of the City, including the largest
of all the California missions, Mission San Luis Rey de Francia. Other
fascinating places within the City are the Oceanside Museum of Art and
the California Surf Museum. These are only a few of the many places
you can visit. Inland there are many parks, shopping centers and great
restaurants. Visitors can even catch a glimpse of what’s to come in
Oceanside’s vibrant and growing downtown.
For more information, be sure to visit the California Welcome CenterOceanside located on North Coast Highway and Highway 76, where you
will be greeted with a smile by staff and volunteers happy to assist you.
You can also contact the California Welcome Center by calling
800-350-7873 or visiting their website www.VisitOceanside.org.
We look forward to having you stay with us!

“One of my biggest tips for surfing
is to relax” said Caleb Richter, surf
coach at Surf Camps USA, “being
comfortable in the water is an
important part of surfing; standing
up, the coordination and the timing
of catching waves will all come
with time.” Oceanside does not
have a shortage of surfers. At any

A Family Affair
Bucket List
Tsunami Skydivers
5 to try
5 to try
Fun in the Sun
With 3.5 miles of wide, sandy beaches, the number-one place to visit on
your trip to Oceanside is definitely the coast! Just lounge in the sun and
feel the sand between your toes… Don’t forget to bring buckets for a
sand castle competition or marshmallows and chocolate for a nighttime
s’more roast.
E
scape the hustle and bustle of
your busy everyday life and
enjoy a classic family vacation right
here in Oceanside!
There is no greater feeling than
reconnecting with your loved
ones by creating new memories
and sharing a few laughs. No time
to research the perfect family
activities? Look no further!
We have highlighted our Top 5
suggestions, guaranteed to make
your next trip one the kids will talk
about for the rest of the year.
Hands-On Experiences
The fun doesn’t stop at the shore line… Consider getting a hands-on
experience by signing-up and paddling out for a surf or stand-up
paddleboard (SUP) lesson. Maybe even pick-up some speed while on
the back of a Jet Ski or try your hand at playing captain aboard a
sail boat
Biking
Get outside and explore our city by bicycle! Designated a bicycle
friendly community by the League of American Bicyclists, Oceanside has
a variety of bike trails, each known for their unique scenery and range of
endurance levels.
Fishing
From a casual fishing experience off of the Oceanside Pier to a day trip
for deep sea fishing, there is an assortment of options available for all
skill levels. Oceanside Harbor is the hub for recreational activities, due
to the multitude of fishing companies and charters offering fun, open
water adventures.
Learning is Fun
Don’t let the education stop just because you are on vacation. Explore
the grounds and the museum of the historic Mission San Luis Rey,
discovering the culture and early settlement of the Spanish Franciscan
Missionaries. You can even explore the variety of arts and cultural
venues located in downtown Oceanside; including the Oceanside
Museum of Art and California Surf Museum. Check out their website
for information on their latest exhibits and events.
Take to the Sky
Looking to see the Southern California coastline from a unique
perspective? How about from 13,000 feet? Feel the wind in your hair
and take the ultimate leap with Oceanside’s very own Tsunami Skydivers.
If freefalling isn’t for you, make a reservation with Coastal Aero Scenic
for a ride in a 1941 restored Waco biplane featuring an open-air cockpit
and breathtaking views.
S
eize the day! From books to
movies and friends sharing
photos online, it seems like
everyone is inspired to step out
of their ordinary lives and try
something new. Whether it is a
small change or an extravagant
adventure, it doesn’t matter the
size of the activity as long as you
push your limits and have a oncein-a-lifetime experience.
Not sure where to start? Check
out our suggested “Five to Try”
during your next trip to Oceanside.

Ultimate Surf Experience
A trip to the beach wouldn’t be complete without a surf lesson and your
very own tale of catching a gnarly wave and riding it to shore. Oceanside
has been at the forefront of surfboard design and manufacturing since
the 1950s. Head on over to “Shaper’s Alley” for the opportunity to
meet with dozens of manufactures and create a custom surfboard made
just for you.
Your Own “Eat, Pray, Love” Experience
Making the time to relax and reenergize is good for the body and
the soul. Create a space of quiet reflection with silent retreats and
meditation through one of the programs offered at either Mission San
Luis Rey or Prince of Peace Abbey monastery.
Endurance Challenge
Health and fitness challenges are popular bucket list items. Whether
your goal is to complete a running, biking or swimming competition—
look no further than Oceanside! Year-round athletic events such as
IRONMAN, Bike the Coast- Taste the Coast and the annual Labor Day
Swim give you the opportunity to test yourself with a variety of fitness
challenges.

Home to least 103 species of birds, 18 mammals, and 14 amphibians

produced in Oceanside is Golden
Coast Mead. Made from honey, mead
is a historic beverage dating back to
Ancient Greece and has recently been
reintroduced to the growing and ever
