Letter From the Mayor
Surf rentals available.
Welcome to the beautiful City of Oceanside. This vibrant City has a
lot to offer visitors: miles of beautiful, wide, white, sandy beaches,
the longest wooden pier along the California coast, and a recreational
harbor. Oceanside is the place to enjoy a relaxing, fun day at the beach
and still have time to explore the history of the City, including the
largest of all the California missions, Mission San Luis Rey de Francia.
Located just one and a half blocks from
the Oceanside Pier, Asylum Surf is a high
quality surf shop dedicated to out-fitting
everything you need to enjoy the paradise
of California’s finest beaches.
Whether you surf, body board, skate or
have never seen the ocean, Asylum Surf
has what you need. From suntan lotion
to straw hats to swim wear, to jackets to
sandals and shoes.
Other fascinating places within the City are the Oceanside Museum of
Art and the California Surf Museum. These are only a few of the many
places you can visit. Inland there are many parks, shopping centers and
great restaurants. Visitors can even catch a glimpse of what’s to come in
Oceanside’s vibrant and growing downtown.

The Harbor
Oceanside Harbor is one of the most picturesque spots in our city;
complete with a Village, unlimited recreational activities, beaches and a
variety of lodging options. The charming Cape Cod-style Harbor Village
is filled with trendy shops, fine restaurants, quaint cafes, picnic tables,
and a brilliant lighthouse to provide an enchanting atmosphere.
While in the Harbor, take a few hours to experience a deep-sea sport
fishing trip, whale-watching tour (seasonal), sailing lesson, or other
water-oriented activity. Get a taste of being an Oceanside local by
renting a boat, taking a jet-ski out for a spin, testing your balance with
stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, or even snorkeling!
The only harbor between Orange County and San Diego, boaters and
sport fishers alike take advantage of a fuel dock, four-lane launch ramp,
bait receiver and slip rentals including electricity, water, restrooms,
showers and laundry facilities. Visiting boaters will find 50 guest slips for
short-term mooring. The Oceanside Yacht Club promotes many boating
activities for both slip renters and visiting boaters.
Locals like to boast that Oceanside Harbor is indeed the most beautiful
undiscovered harbor on the Pacific Coast. The nautical experience in
Oceanside is definitely worth exploring.

Make memories that will last a lifetime
while playing in Rancho del Oro. Whether
you are having a picnic in a historical park or jumping out
of a plane, there are many adventures to be had with the
entire family.
Skydiving with Tsunami Skydivers (480 Airport Road, 760-390-JUMP)
is a one-of-a-kind adventure, offering the only coastal skydiving
experience in Southern California. Visitors can take the plunge while
taking in the breathtaking views of Southern California’s coastline: with
views of San Diego to the south and Catalina Island and Dana Point to
the north. Jumpers take off and land from Oceanside Municipal Airport
and enjoy coastline views as they make their descent from 12,000 feet.
Mission San Luis Rey (4050 Mission Avenue, 760-757-3651)
is the largest of the California Missions. The mission architecture is
extraordinary—featuring hand-carved wooden doors, bright and
colorful hand-painted walls and murals and the original baptismal font
made of hammered copper. Take a moment to explore the on-site
museum archiving the Luiseno Indian culture and the early settlement of
the Spanish Franciscan Missionaries.
Experience a piece of American aviation history by taking a ride in a
vintage biplane. Coastal Aero Scenic offers flights in a 1941 restored
Waco Biplane out of Oceanside Municipal Airport. The biplane can hold
two passengers in its open-air cockpit and provides breathtaking views
of the Southern California coastline.
Prince of Peace Abbey
(650 Benet Hill Road,
760-967-4200x200) is a
Benedictine Monastery situated
on a mesa overlooking the San
Luis Rey River Valley and the
Pacific Ocean. It was founded
in 1958 by the monks of St.
Meinrad’s Archabbey in Indiana.
The facility serves as a retreat
house and maintains gardens for
those seeking spiritual renewal.
Located in the serene San Luis
Rey Valley, Guajome County
Park (3000 Guajome Lake Road,

perfect for hiking, biking and
horseback riding.
Nestled among the rolling hills
of historic Oceanside Valley,
Heritage Park (220 Peyri Road,
760-435-5041) features the
original buildings of downtown
Oceanside. These original
structures date back to the turn
of the century and feature the

SURF OCEANSIDE
Referred to as “one of Southern California’s
most consistent surf spots” by Matt Warshaw
and William Finnegan in The Encyclopedia of
Surfing. Oceanside is home to countless
professional and leisure surfers and world
renowned surf board shapers. With 3 miles
of beautiful shoreline, everyone has their
favorite spots to catch a wave.
Always “a buzz” with activity, the Pier serves as a recreational meeting
place for locals and visitors alike. Fishermen, surfers, and tourists,
young and old, gather to walk the pier, play in the surf, or simply relax
in the sand for an unforgettable sunset.
Every year the pier draws over 1 million visitors to enjoy all it has to
offer. The Pier Plaza offers a range of beach amenities that include
everything from bike rentals and surf lessons to gourmet lattes and
fresh squeezed lemonade. For a tasty treat don't miss Ruby's Diner
located at the end of the Pier.
Thinking about taking a
surf lesson the next time
you are in Oceanside?
“One of my biggest tips for surfing
is to relax” said Caleb Richter,
surf coach at Surf Camps USA,
“being comfortable in the water
is an important part of surfing;
standing up, the coordination and
the timing of catching waves will all
come with time.” Oceanside does
not have a shortage of surfers. At
any point during the day, at any
time of year, you will surely spot a
surfer in the water waiting for the
next big wave. Learn more about
Caleb Richter by going to the Visit
Oceanside YouTube Channel.

A trip to the beach is not complete without cozying up around a bonfire, roasting marshmallows
and enjoying a messy s’more. Everyone knows the

While our wide-open beaches are the top reason
