Galloway, Leveille and Dave Lawson were named to Team USA and will face the MLL All Stars this coming summer. Rochester is off to a 4-‐2 start to the season, remaining perfect at home. Off Season Additions The off-‐season saw the departure of a handful of talented players including Ned Crotty and Matt Striebel. The team rebounded with the addition of players like Sam Bradman and Justin Turri to help solidify their roster. 2014 Collegiate Draft The 2014 Collegiate Draft saw the Rattlers organization acquire some of the best talent in Division 1. They took All American Jordan Wolf (Duke) with the second overall pick, and followed up by nabbing both Ty and Miles Thompson (University of Albany). The most pleasant surprise was the pick-‐up of Mark Cockerton from Virginia, who had a standout year in Division 1 averaging 2.94 goals per game. Week 6 Notes 2OT Thriller Last weeks game was full of storylines on the offensive side of the ball with Kevin Leveille becoming the All-‐Time leading goal scorer in MLL history and Miles Thompson again taking the field in a Rattlers uniform. However, it was the defense that stood out. Lead by Team USA and former Syracuse goalie John Galloway of the Rattlers only allowed 7 goals to a Bayhawks team that heading into the game was averaging just under 10 goals a game. Galloway made 21 saves, but most importantly he made 4 jaw-‐dropping stops to keep the Rattlers alive in Overtime despite Rochester being a man down in both OT periods. Although it was the defense that kept the Rattlers in the game, there were some pleasant offensive performances. In just his second game with the Rattlers this season Mark Matthews tailed 2 goals and Rookie Miles Thompson also playing in his second game added 1 goal and 1 assist. The Rattlers also saw goals from Justin Turri, John Ranagan, and Kevin Leveille. Rochester Rattlers Lacrosse RochesterRattlers.com (585) 340-‐6905 Story Book Ending Coming into last week’s game against the Bayhawks Rattlers Attackmen Kevin Leveille was only 3 goals away from passing Tim Gottlemen to become the All-‐Time Leading Goal Scorer in MLL history. After scoring a goal in the first quarter of the contest on a man up, Leveille just needed 2 more goals to make history. In the fourth quarter with the Rattlers down by 1, Leveille would add his second of the game. The goal not only tied the record but also sent the game into overtime! After a scoreless first overtime, the stage was set. Leveille would go on to score the game-‐winning goal on a man up. The goal crowned him the Leading Goal Scorer in MLL history and tied him with Tim Gottlemen for the most game winning goals in MLL history. Safe Haven In the 2014 summer season the Rattlers are undefeated at Sahlen’s Stadium. With a 4-‐2 overall record the Rattlers have won all four of their home games, while losing a pair of away games. Warrior Offensive Player of the Week Following Rochester’s victory over the Chesapeake Bayhawks, Team Captain and Team USA member Kevin Leveille was awarded the Warrior Offensive Player of the Week. His efforts on offense proved to be substantial since he scored the game tying and game winning goals for the Rattlers. Leveille’s Hat Trick helped secure him the title as the All-‐Time leading goal scorer in MLL history. He was also named the Coca Cola player of the game. All Stars On Tuesday June 10th the Team MLL roster for the 2014 MLL All-‐Star Game was announced. Among those selected were Rattlers faceoff specialist John Ortolani, who is second in the league with 38 ground balls this season, and is 80-‐160 at the X will be making his first All-‐Star appearance. Michael Manley, who has already been named MLL Warrior Defensive Player of the Week twice in 2014, will be taking the field for Team MLL, as will former Duke midfielder Justin Turri and former Syracuse long-‐stick midfielder Joel White. These Rattlers will face off against teammates and Team USA members John Galloway, Kevin Leveille, and Dave Lawson on Thursday, June 26th, at 7:30 when the MLL All-‐Stars take on Team USA at Harvard Stadium.
