LET THE LIBRARY HELP YOU NAVIGATE HEALTHCARE.GOV
A
fter a somewhat rocky rollout, the
federal website to apply for
healthcare coverage is up and running.
You can learn about all your options in
the government Marketplace and apply
at healthcare.gov.
With a Marketplace application, you
can learn if you can get lower costs
based on your income, compare your coverage options
side-by-side, and enroll. Plans go into effect on January 1,
2014 and open enrollment ends on March 31, 2014, so
now is the time to apply.
After open enrollment ends on March 31, 2014, you won't
be able to get health coverage through the Marketplace
until the next annual enrollment
period, unless you have a officially recognized “qualifying life
event.” According to
healthcare.gov, “If someone
who can afford health insurance
doesn’t have coverage in 2014,
they may have to pay a fee.”
There is a lot at stake, a lot of options to consider, and it
can always be tricky to use a new website, so the library is
here to help! We’ll be able to help you search
healthcare.gov, download forms, find your options for coverage, and more. You can also call for official help 24/7 at
1-800-318-2596.
