Cupcakes & Gumball
Machines Art Camp
Since Andy Warhol painted soup cans and made art
using popular American images as subject matter, many
artists have painted food as their subject. American
artist Wayne Thiebaud became very famous for his
realistic, textured paintings of pies and cakes. Kids love
to re-create their favorite foods as art, and this camp
is for them! We will study perspective to draw realistic
layer cakes, paint a "yummy" cupcake and work with
mixed media to create a gumball machine. The camp
will end with a student art exhibit open to family and
friends.

Class
DANC E
If you've always
wanted to
try our program
or start dance,
NOW is the time!
This year our summer program consists
of one six-week session that is geared
toward technical training, allowing new
students to try our program and get properly
placed. Students from the 2016-2017
school year program should continue in
the same levels for summer classes. After
the completion of the summer session,
participants who are starting with Woodlawn
Dance Academy this summer will receive
placement cards for fall registration.
Questions regarding placement should be
directed to Becky at 815.626.4278. Class
placement is based on age, technical level
and experience.
Parents are not allowed in the classroom
until Viewing Week, which is always the last
class of each session. Viewing Week this
summer will be the last day of class.
Our program is designed to introduce
students to ballet and tap together at the
lower levels, then progress into individual
discipline classes at the intermediate and
advanced levels. We invite you to participate
in all of the dance forms, especially ballet, as
it is the foundation of all dance forms. Our
trained instructors come to you with years of
experience and expertise. Woodlawn Dance
Academy staff take pride in their work and
strive to enforce organizational standards
and serve our customers with the highest
level of professionalism possible.

Session Dates
While it is important that students continue lessons once they
have started, it is not required that you begin lessons during a
particular session. The Summer 2016 Session runs from the
week of June 13th through the week of August 1st. There are no
lessons on Monday, July 4th; if your lesson is scheduled for a
Monday, it will be made up on Monday, August 8th or another
date agreed upon by the student and teacher. Because of varied
summer schedules, some teachers may not teach for a full
8-week session. Prices are modified in those instances.
Performances
Performance is an integral part of music education. Students are
offered several performance opportunities throughout the year. It
is important that students take advantage of these opportunities
as often as possible.
