Krabi Airport is the nearest airport to Koh
Lanta. Air Asia, Bangkok Airways and
Thai Airways all provide daily flights from
Bangkok to Krabi Airport. You can fly direct
from Singapore to Krabi with Tiger Airways.
Fast speedboat transfer
The fastest way to get to Koh Lanta from Krabi
Airport is with a fast speedboat transfer. You
can book a Koh Lanta speedboat transfer

involves a 45 minute car journey and then a
scenic 15 minute speedboat ride along Lanta’s
beautiful coastline, followed by a transfer to
your Koh Lanta hotel by minivan. Total travel

The nearest beach to the village of Ban Saladan, where the Koh Lanta ferry and most dive
shops are located. Due to its location it is the most developed beach on Koh Lanta

Khlong Dao is far from overdeveloped though, and locals
will not let resort owners build on the beach or above
tree height keeping resorts unobtrusive and preserving
the relaxed atmosphere.
Khlong Dao Beach is made of white powdery sand and
stretches 3 km. Due to the shape of the Bay it retains
incredible calm waters making it a favourite choice for
families. There’s a good mix of restaurants all along the
beach and one in particular is quite famous – the Time for
Lime cooking school located near the south of the beach.
The restaurant is quite small and they have a select menu
which is different every day. The food, view and setting here
makes for a great experience. Also check out the beach
bars for some friendly drinks whilst the sun is setting and
in the evenings many bars play host to fire shows.

Kawkwang Beach is situated at the northern tip of Koh Lanta, around 1 kilometer from

Kawkwang Beach has one of the most convenient
locations on Koh Lanta but is often overlooked. There has
been little development at Kawkwang as Thai property
developers have always traditionally focussed on the
more popular beaches of Khlong Dao or Long Beach.
Only recently has Kawkwang Beach received its first
Luxury Resort, the Crown Lanta Resort & Spa. There is
only a few other resorts on Kawkwang Beach, meaning
that it’s never crowded and yet has the convenience of
being only a kilometre away from the port of Sala Dan.

Khlong Khong Beach is known for having very friendly locals. It’s a 3 km stretch of beautiful

The accommodation here is nearly all family run giving
a special personal touch and it’s slightly cheaper than
the other beach areas. During high tide the beach and
colour of the water are amazing. However, whilst it is
low tide many rocks appear in many places making it
not good for swimming and slightly ugly. Luckily though
most resorts have got swimming pools.
Koh Lanta is pretty quiet compared to many other places
in Thailand when it comes to nightlife, and most visitors
like it just like that. Klong Khong beach, however, has a
good cluster of bars and beachside DJs that can provide
some tunes and fun if that’s what you want.

Noodle stands. The Red Snapper Restaurant, Retro Cafe,
Catfish Book store are also very close to Relax Bay. Not
to far away is Dr. Salarin surgery.
Look out for party nights at Opium Bar with a usual party
on a Sunday night and also The Bajen sports bar and
Shooters where you can play a good game of pool. Also
you will find ATM’s, Internet and travel service shops and
a 7 Eleven. Don’t miss the Muay Thai Stadium in this area

Bamboo Bay Beach
For those looking for very simple accommodation in wooden huts on a deserted beach far away
from the rest of the tourists on the island, Bamboo Beach fits the bill
Bamboo Bay is the furthest beach away from
Saladan around a 40 minute taxi ride away.
Bamboo Bay has crystal clear waters and a
fine white sandy beach and a very relaxed
pace to the life. It only has a hand full of
simple resorts scattered along the bay and is
surrounded by mountains covered with rain
forests. Due to its location you will find a
quite unspoilt paradise.
This sadly also means a lot of the tours and
Scuba diving trips will not pick up in this
area. If you would like to consider a similar
beach which is near check out Kantiang Bay
or Khlong Nin.
Due to its location development hasn’t
arrived as quickly to Bamboo Bay as many
other beach areas. Which is great in some
ways for people who want to get away. The
lack of development also means the road is
not complete.

Where does the Liveaboard depart from?
The liveaboard departs from Khao Lak, a small
town which is one hour’s drive from Phuket
Airport. To get from Koh Lanta to Khao Lak
takes around 4 hours by ferry and taxi.
