trip to Cuba will be available, so look out for the announcement, and
spread the word. In the meantime, check out our NEW PROMO

December 12: Holiday Carnival with The Help Group
Help to ensure that each child among over 2,000 at-risk children and
their families has a holiday to remember. All ages are welcome to
volunteer. 13130 Burbank Blvd in Sherman Oaks. RSVP HERE
WHAT'S COOKING? A TASTE OF CUBA!
Natilla - Cuban Cinnamon and Vanilla Custard
Total Time: 30 minutes
Four 1/2-cup servings
Ingredients
2 cups milk
1 stick cinnamon
Pinch salt
1 quarter-size piece of lime peel
4 egg yolks
½ cup sugar
2 tablespoons cornstarch dissolved in 1/8 cup water
Scrapings of 1/4 vanilla bean, or more to taste
Ground cinnamon, for garnish

Instructions
Step 1
Place the milk, cinnamon stick, salt and lime peel in a heavy saucepan and bring to a boil.
Remove from the heat and allow to cool, letting the spice and lime steep in the milk.

YOU CAN GO TO CUBA
Check out what we did last year in our
IRELAND VIDEO. It is a sample of the fun we
have, and the connection we make between
the weekly sessions' learning and the countries
we travel to. In 2016 all of our cultural lessons
will be focused on the beauty and uniqueness
of CUBA!
APPLICATION 2016
To become a CALE Kid, you must meet the
following simple criteria:
1. Be a student age 11-14
2. Secure passport book by May 2016
3. Attend all program sessions - Saturdays
from June 4 to July 23
4. Attend the trip to Cuba - Approximately 1
week end of July/early August
5. Submit completed 2016 Application
along with Letters of Recommendation
6. Attend orientation session along with
Parents
7. Have good behavior & great potential!
Scholarships are available to cover the cost of
the program and the international trip!

donate money and goods, fundraise, beautify
