DESIGNER OPTIONS
Sanderson’s Options collections offer a wide range of
decorating and design styles. Designer Options
includes contemporary designs, classic Indiennes and
fresh florals, all presented in co-ordinated schemes.
For this, the 11th Options collection, three well known
British designers, a renowned Italian designer and three
designers from the Sanderson studio were invited to
create these co-ordinating fabrics & wallpapers.
Beautiful balloons
A charming collection that combines whimsical
embroideries for the young at heart with elegant
embroidered trails complemented by multi coloured
satin stripes.

Varese and Kantu
Varese was designed by Giacomo Barzaghi, who has run
his own design studio in Como, Italy since 1978. The studio
is renowned for Giacomo’s classical hand painted floral
work and for the creativity and innovation of its designs.

Spring Flowers was designed by Alison
Gee in the Sanderson studio. Alison has
worked for Sanderson both as an in-house
designer and as a freelance designer for 20
years and her experience is evident in the
variety of styles in which she works. However,
her greatest expertise lies in her painting of
flowers and many of her designs have become
Sanderson ‘classics’ in past years.

Sussex Downs
Sussex Downs was created by Jenny Frean, a
designer known for her distinctive contemporary
style. Jenny is a graduate of the Royal College of
Art, was made a Royal Designer for Industry in
1998 and is founder of the First Eleven Studio.

Maple
Maple was designed by Fiona Howard who also designed
Sanderson’s hugely successful Dandelion Clocks. Fiona has
worked with international clients in the furnishing industry for the
past 25 years. Craftsmanship and traditional tools are at the heart of
Fiona’s work. Her signature prints are based on hand-cut lino-prints
created in her Regency studio overlooking the sea in Brighton.

Young at Heart
Jubilee Square
Jubilee Square was originally created in the 1950’s
by Wendy Bray who worked as a fabric designer in the
50s and 70s. She prefers the light-hearted touch and
her playful conversation pieces. Jubilee Square uses
images of her long-time family home and her dolls house.
Its heritage is immediately recognisable with its simple
blocks of colour and line detail.

An original 50s Sanderson wallpaper, Fifi was discovered in
2010 in a customer’s loft where it had been hidden away for the
last 50 years. The design depicts the typical hourglass silhouette
described as ‘The New Look’, a trend pioneered in 1947 by one
of the most iconic fashion designers, Christian Dior.
Dandelion Clocks
First launched in the Options 10 collection in
2008, Dandelion Clocks, also designed
by Fiona Howard, has become one of
Sanderson’s best ever selling designs.

Modern Classics
Fantasy Garden and Seaford Stripe
Fantasy Garden was designed by Sanderson designer, Helen
Sydney who has previously designed for several renowned English
fabric brands. Initially trained to design in the traditional 19th century
document style, she also loves painterly and spontaneous techniques
which she has used here in a contemporary interpretation of a tree
of life which is printed on slub cotton. The Swedish influence of
the design is reflected in the complementary Fantasy Garden
wallpaper. A contemporary stripe wallpaper Seaford Stripe
complements the designs.

and Reflections
Morning View was painted by Sanderson designer, Claire Hart who
trained at the Royal college of Art and who approaches her designs
with an artist’s eye. She loves using colour and often, as in this
design, uses oil paints to create subtle effects of light and shade.

Ranee embroidery, asami and asami stripe
Ranee and asami are both classically elegant designs embroidered using very
different techniques. ranee uses an effect that imitates the chain stitch used
on traditional Indian cloths and in asami, the yarns used to embroider the
blossom motifs have been cut to create delicate pompoms. Complementing
these designs is ASAMI STRIPE, woven in a smart satin quanlity.
