Govt taken initiative to ensure proper consultation and appropriate regulatory framework is put in place to regulate this new industry. Vanuatu drafted DSM policy with provisions for the people of Vanuatu to participate in decision making on DSM matters. Our ocean is important for our livelihood Local commercial fisheries: Vatu 330 million/annum Local traditional fisheries: Vatu 578 million/annum (informal sector is a key element for development) The importance of Information for better decision making (precautionary approach).
