Praise to the Lord the almighty, only because of His gift, Parahyangan Classical Music Festival
(PCMF) 2014 be held back. In the second year, Kota Baru Parahyangan in collaboration with Department of Music Education, Faculty of Language and Arts, Indonesia University of Education (UPI),
also very concerned in watching developments in classical music. Under the coordination of Agus
Firmansyah and Yudi Sukmayadi, expanded the concept of the show performances, one of which
is to integrate a series of performances in the education process. This corresponds with the vision
and the mission carried by Kota Baru Parahyangan as a Self-Contained City with Educational Insight.
Efforts to integrate classical music into the world of education, other than as a vehicle for the
appreciation of music education to the community, Kota Baru Parahyangan and UPI initiative for a
workshop of invited artists in the world this year. We hope that through performances and workshops can be more useful and meaningful to the community, especially for the world of music
education in Indonesia. Of course we believe, through this, the development of classical music in
this country can be assured continuously.
INTRODUCTION
Classical music has now become an integral part of Indonesian society. PCMF 2014 would also
play a major role as a vehicle for classical music education in the country. The presence of the
German conductor, Prof. Gerd Müller-Lorenz, violinist Liza Fretschman, and pianist Stephan Rahn
will provide a form of its own about the “tourist” classical music. In addition to the presence of
renowned musicians of international repute such as Indonesia, Ary Soeteja, Ananda Sukarlan,
Asep Hidayat, Binu Sukaman, Joseph Kriastianto, Jakarta Brass Quintet, Saung Anklung Udjo
and others, in addition to sharing the skills to play the works featured classical music, could also
be a sign of the rapid development of music classic in the homeland.
Originator of the team consisting of Agus Firmansyah, Yudi Sukmayadi, Stanly Tasin, and Ramli
Nainggolan to thank you for the trust that has been given by Kota Baru Parahyangan to organized
PCMF 2014. We congratulate and appreciate classical music education traveled in Kota Baru
