2011-12 preview
If there’s one word that can be used to define the inaugural season of the Bob Marlin Era for Ragin’ Cajuns
basketball it would be “rejuvenate”. In nearly all facets of the program that’s the impact Marlin’s debut instilled.
The momentum began to build with the reunion weekend that honored former head coach Beryl Shipley,
picked up steam with the 11-game regular season win streak and was fully realized when the largest crowds at
the Cajundome in over six years spilled into the arena.
The 11-game win streak which started the turnaround from 3-14 and led to a Sun Belt West Division
championship, injected life back into a proud basketball program and Marlin hopes the Ragin’ Cajuns can build
on it moving forward.
Rejuvenating the fan base and teaching his team how to win, was accomplished in year one. Last year’s
exciting finish has fans wondering what year two has in store.
The Cajuns’ success in 2011-12 will depend on how well the “old” mixes with the “new” and there’s plenty of
new faces dotting the roster sheet.
Six newcomers (three JUCOs, senior transfer and two freshmen) will be counted upon to offset the loss
of gutty players such as Travis Bureau, Randell Daigle and La’Ryan Gary. Expect Louisiana to lean upon the
talented trio of Raymone Andrews, Josh Brown and J.J. Thomas as the main core.
Andrews is one of the better on-ball defenders is the Sun Belt and improved his outside shot last season
which in turn improved his offensive contributions. For increased offense at the point guard slot, the Cajuns
could turn to JUCO transfer Darnell Jackson (JUCO Junction Top-150).
Brown’s slashing ability leads to quick offense and also makes him a weapon on the rebounding front. If
Brown can stay healthy, an All-Sun Belt season is possible.
Thomas dominated in the post in his rookie campaign. He was nearly impossible to post up and posed
matchup problems for every Sun Belt opponent. During the Cajuns’ season-ending 11-game win streak,
Thomas averaged 16.1 ppg and 7.5 rpg.
The newcomer with the most impact potential is Alan-Michael Thompson. As a scoring guard, Thompson
rung up 1,027 points at Brunswick Community College the past two years. Thompson’s shooting touch (43%
last year) should fill the role Randell Daigle held for four years.
In the post, Thomas will receive help from newcomers Kadeem Coleby and Darshawn McClellan. McClellan
transferred from Vanderbilt after graduation and can play immediately.
There’s plenty of versatility with the roster and that is a plus given the challenge of the mixing and matching
that’s going to be necessary to replace the Bureau, Daigle and Gary trio.

SEASON RECAP
>> Louisiana completed its first season under new head coach Bob Marlin.
>> The Cajuns struggled at the start of the season with a 3-14 record, but rebounded winning
the last 11 games of the regular season to claim a share of the Sun Belt West Division title.
The last time UL finished atop the West Division came during the 2007-08 season. It was the
program’s fifth divisional regular season championship.
>> During the streak, the Cajuns won 10 straight Sun Belt games, including four road contests.
The 10-game win streak set a new school record for consecutive Sun Belt wins.
>> The Cajuns finished the season second in the Sun Belt, averaging 37.4 rebounds per game. It
was the highest rebounding effort for the team since the 2001-02 season.
>> For the first time in six seasons, UL averaged more than 70 points per game (70.9).
>> From beyond the arc, UL shot 34.7 percent. It was the highest team shooting percentage
since 2003-04 and the 7th highest in school history.
>> J.J. Thomas and Travis Bureau were tabbed to the Sun Belt All-Conference team. Thomas was
named Second Team while Bureau picked up Third Team honors.
>> For the 16th consecutive season, the Cajuns finished .500 or better at the Cajundome. In
conference play, UL finished 7-1 at home with the lone loss coming in overtime against Middle
Tennessee.
>> Three seniors ended their career in 2010-11. Travis Bureau, Randell Daigle and La’Ryan Gary
saw their eligibility expire.
>> Randell Daigle became the 39th player in school history to score 1,000 points in a career. He
finished the season with 1,075 points, ranking 33rd in the all-time scoring list. He scored 681 of
his career total from three-point range, ranking 11th in Sun Belt history with 227 three-pointers
made.
>> Travis Bureau finished the season as the team’s leading rebounder (6.9), grabbing doubledigit rebounds in seven games. He set the Sun Belt season-high mark with 20 rebounds against
South Alabama.
>> After sitting out all last season due to a gruesome injury suffered in the final game of the
2008-09 season, La’Ryan Gary made a significant impact throughout the season, scoring in
double-figures in nine games during the 11-game win streak. During the Cajuns’ 11-game win
streak, he averaged 3.3 ppg and shot 52.7 percent from the floor.

WELCOME
TO THE CAJUNDOME
27th Season • Seating Capacity: 11,550 • 248 Wins • .709 Winning Percentage

One of the nation’s most impressive facilities and
heralded as one of the finest multi-purpose arenas in
the country, the Cajundome has served as the home of
Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns men’s basketball program since
the 1985-86 season.
The $64 million facility was opened and officially
dedicated on Nov. 10, 1985, as the new home of the Ragin’
Cajuns, replacing Blackham Coliseum (1950-84), and since
that time the ‘Dome has drawn raves from across the
country for its beauty and function.
“This is as fine a facility as you’ll find anywhere,”
basketball analyst Billy Packer said. “You don’t need any
better than this.”
“It’s sensational,” said former Utah Jazz head coach
Frank Layden, whose team played an exhibition in the
arena. “It’s the best arena I’ve ever been in. I’d like to take
it home with me.”
“The Cajundome is a facility that the University of
Louisiana, the city of Lafayette and the state of Louisiana
should be very proud of,” Cajuns head coach Bob Marlin
said. “It’s one of the truly magnificent facilities in the
country. I’ve traveled throughout the country and played
in a lot of great coliseums, and the Cajundome is as nice, if
not nicer, than any place I’ve ever been in.”
The Cajundome is much more than a basketball
arena, though.
It was designed as a true multi-purpose facility, and
the ‘Dome has hosted such varied events as ice shows,
circuses, indoor soccer, conventions, banquets, wrestling
and boxing cards, ice hockey, Arena Football, monster
truck shows and rodeos. The facility served as home for
the Louisiana IceGators of the East Coast Hockey League
from the 1995-96 through 2004-05 seasons. For one
season, in 2001, the af2’s Lafayette Roughnecks called the
Cajundome home.
The facility has an adjustable capacity between 4,500
and 13,500. With an average of 140 events per year and 1015 concerts per year, the arena has hosted top entertainers
and shows including The Eagles, Whitney Houston, Rod
Stewart, Elton John, Billy Joel, George Strait, Garth Brooks,
Eddie Murphy, Justin Beiber, Lil Wayne, Backstreet Boys,
Disney’s World On Ice, WWF, Sesame Street, Clear Channel
Motor Sports, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, NSYNC, Hannah
Montana, Taylor Swift and The Professional Bull Riders
Adriano Moraes Invitational .
The Cajundome features chairback seating
throughout the arena with a capacity of 11,550 for UL
basketball and more for events that do not fill the entire
floor space. The largest crowd for any single event was
the 13,500 fans who attended the Kenny Rogers concert
during the facility’s first week of operation.
The ‘Dome also features 16 plush VIP luxury suites
with full view of the arena.
A brand new basketball court was installed in time
for the 2007-08 season. More upgrades were installed for
the 2008-09 season which included a new scoreboard and
sound system.
Three times the arena has served as host of the Sun
www.RAGINCAJUNS.com
Belt Conference men’s basketball tournament doing so
in 1997, 1998 and 2007. The 2007 Sun Belt Tournament
added a twist – the men’s tournament was joined by the
women’s tournament, marking the first time the ‘Dome
hosted the league’s women’s postseason event.
The city of Lafayette and the State of Louisiana jointly
financed and built the Cajundome. The state owns the
land on the ‘Dome site, located just east of theU niversity
of Louisiana’s Cox Communications Athletic Center off
Congress Street and Cajundome Boulevard.
On April 30, 2002, the facility received a much needed
addition with the opening of the brand new $16.7 million
convention center located adjacent to the ‘Dome on the
east side of the building. The convention center offers
nearly 100,000 square feet on two levels..
The largest crowd to date for a Ragin’ Cajuns basketball
game in the facility came on Dec. 16, 1992, when 11,479
fans watched UL defeat Loyola- Marymount, 87-73.
During their tenure in the Cajundome, the Ragin’
Cajuns have posted a 248-102 record for a .709 winning
percentage.
The 11-game win-streak to end the 2010-11
season rejuvenated the fan base and attendance at the
Cajundome rose to an average of 6,126 the final month.
In 2009-10, UL was a perfect 9-0 against the Sun Belt
within the friendly confines of the Cajundome.
During the 2002-03 season, the Cajuns set a new
record for consecutive wins at the ‘Dome after an 8174 win over New Mexico State on Jan. 2, 2003. That win
marked the 15th straight at the Cajundome. The streak
would eventually reach 21, which ranked as the fifthlongest in the nation at the time, before falling to Western
Kentucky on Feb. 26, 2003.
The 2005-06 season was shortened. The Cajundome
served as a shelter for Hurricanes Katrina and Rita and was
unavailable in November and December 2005. The Cajuns
returned to the arena in January 2006.

• A new era of Ragin’ Cajuns facilities was born in
August 2007 when the multi-purpose Leon Moncla
Indoor Practice Facility was unveiled.
• The 88,791-square foot facility was built by
architect Gene Sellers for approximately $4.5
million.
• The basketball portion includes a full court with
six goals, locker room, video room, players lounge
and meeting room. The basketball court was taken
from the Cajundome and was replaced by a court
used in the NCAA Women’s Basketball National
Championship game.

held preseason workouts at the facility.
• The facility houses a full 120-yard football field
turf surface purchased from the New Orleans Saints
that was used during the 2003 NFL season. The turf
was also used for the New Orleans Bowl and Sugar
Bowl National Championship game.
• Drop-down batting cages hang above the west
end zone and are utilized by the baseball, softball
and golf teams. Baseball and softball have also used
the turf to take infield practice.

Bob Marlin, the 2010 Skip Prosser Man of the Year award winner, began his
tenure as head coach of Ragin’ Cajuns men’s basketball in March 2010. Marlin spent
the previous 12 seasons serving in the same capacity at Sam Houston State.
Marlin’s impact was immediately felt at the University of Louisiana as he guided the
Cajuns to an 11-game win streak to end the 2010-11 regular season, which resulted
in a Sun Belt West division championship.
“Coach Marlin is an individual that we identified very early in our search,” thenCajuns Athletics Director David Walker said. “The more we learned about him, the
more impressed we were. When people spoke to us about Bob Marlin, they used
words like ‘integrity’, ‘disciplinarian’ and ‘teacher’.”
Marlin was a finalist for the opening at Auburn and was also being considered at
Houston and UTEP before ultimately deciding that the Ragin’ Cajuns provided the
best fit. He was recently named the 2010 District 23 NABC Coach of the Year.
“When we had the opportunity to meet Coach Marlin, we were convinced he was
the coach to lead our program,” Walker stated. “But Bob Marlin was no longer the
best kept secret in college basketball. Several universities saw the same qualities
in him that we saw and the fact that he chose to be at UL makes this even more
special.”
His quick success with UL came as no surprise to those who have tracked his career.
In 12 seasons with the Bearkats, Marlin produced an overall record of 225 victories
and 131 losses -- more victories than any other Southland Conference member
during that time span.
Prior to Marlin’s arrival in Huntsville, Texas, SHSU had a record of 93-202 in 11 years
since moving up to Division I in 1987-88.
His last eight seasons at SHSU produced a combined record of 163-81 for an
average record of 20-10 each season. That stretch included five 20-plus win seasons,
two conference championships and two NCAA Tournament berths. Sam Houston is
one of only 52 Division I men’s basketball teams to post four 20-victory seasons in the
last five years.
Since 2000, Marlin has not only dominated the Southland Conference but also
the State of Texas. Only one of the 20 NCAA Division I men’s basketball schools in the
state has won more games or has a higher winning percentage than Marlin at Sam
Houston State. In fact, no other school in the State of Texas, other than Texas and
Sam Houston State, can boast a winning percentage greater than .650.
His best overall season with the Bearkats came in 2009-10, as he led SHSU to a
25-8 mark, including a 14-2 record in conference play and a 13-1 mark at home.
He was named 2010 Southland Conference Coach of the Year after capturing the
Southland regular season and tournament championship. It was the third time that
the Southland bestowed him as its Coach of the Year (‘00, ‘03 ‘10).
Sam Houston State’s 12-1 non-conference record in 2007-08 was the University’s
best Division I non-conference record in school history and equaled the most regular
season non-conference wins for a Southland Conference team since 1991. During

“Not only has Coach Marlin been a winner everywhere he has been, he has done it the right way,” Walker explained. “That was
extremely important to us.”
Marlin is one of only two coaches in the history of the Southland Conference to post more than 200 coaching victories.
In 17 seasons as a head coach, Marlin has produced a record of 348 victories and 166 losses. He has been named Coach of the
Year four times and owns 11 seasons of 20-plus wins in his coaching career.
Marlin rolled up a 123-35 record as head coach at Pensacola Junior College. In 1993, he was National Junior College Coach of
the Year after directing Pensacola to the NJCAA National Championship.
As a head coach, Marlin has coached an NBA draft pick, one NJCAA National Player of the Year, one NJCAA Student-Athlete
of the Year, two Southland Conference “Players of the Year,” three Southland “Newcomers of the Year,” one Southland “Freshman
of the Year,” three Southland “Student Athletes of the Year”, four All-Americans, 38 All-Conference selections, four Academic AllAmericans, and 36 Academic All-Conference student-athletes.
He served as an assistant coach at Alabama, Marshall, Houston Baptist, and Louisiana-Monroe.
As an assistant coach, Marlin helped guide the Alabama Crimson Tide to the 1996 National Invitational Final Four. Working
under Dana Altman at Marshall in 1989-90, he helped direct the Thundering Herd to a runner-up finish in the Southern Conference.
From 1984 to 1989, Marlin served as assistant to Gene Iba and Tommy Jones at Houston Baptist. The Huskies earned an NCAA
Division I tournament berth in 1984 and finished among the top three teams in the TransAmerica Conference four times. While
serving as a graduate assistant at La.Monroe under head coach Mike Vining,
Marlin coached the junior varsity and
was scouting director for a ULM squad
that won the TransAmerica Conference
championship and earned an NCAA
post-season tournament berth in 1982.
Born in Tupelo, Miss., Marlin received
his Bachelor of Science degree in
Physical Education from Mississippi
State in 1981. He earned his Masters in
Health and Physical Education (with a
minor in guidance and counseling) from
Northeast Louisiana in 1983. Marlin was
inducted into the Florida Junior College
Hall of Fame in March, 2007.
He is married to the former Jennifer
Murray and the couple resides in
Lafayette. Marlin has a son, Matt, and
stepdaughter, Saylor.

Neil Hardin has been by Bob Marlin’s side throughout his coaching career - including the 12
seasons at Sam Houston State - and the relationship continued when Hardin joined Marlin as an
assistant coach on his inaugural staff at the University of Louisiana in April 2010.
Hardin - a Pensacola, Fla., native - began working with Marlin at Pensacola Junior College in 1992
and went with him to the University of Alabama from 1995-98 and later on Sam Houston State.
Hardin played an important role in directing SHSU to a 225-131 record, the best record in the
Southland Conference the past decade. The Bearkats won three regular season SLC titles and
finished third or higher in the league standings the final six seasons.
Like Bob Marlin, Hardin spent the previous 12 seasons in Huntsville, Texas, at Sam Houston
State. Hardin’s duties included helping plan and run practice, opponent scouting, recruiting, and
off-season individual skill instruction.
He was instrumental in leading the Bearkats to three Southland Conference regular season
titles, two NCAA tournament appearances (2003 and 2010) and a Preseason National Invitational
Tournament in 2005.
Sam Houston defeated top teams such as Auburn (SEC), Texas Tech, Missouri, Nebraska, and
Baylor (Big 12), New Mexico State (WAC), Houston and Central Florida (Conference USA), Idaho
State and Montana State (Big Sky), Chattanooga (Southern), and Bradley (Missouri Valley).
The Bearkats posted six 20-plus victory seasons and double-digit wins 12 years in a row. Sam
Houston was one of only 52 teams in NCAA Division I men’s basketball to post 20-victory seasons
four of the last five years.
Hardin first worked with Marlin - and began
his coaching career - from 1992-95 at Pensacola
Junior College. The Pirates won the National
Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA)
National Championship in 1992-93, his first
season on Marlin’s staff.
Pensacola produced an overall record of 74
victories and only 22 defeats during those three
seasons, a winning percentage of .771.
Following the 1994-95 season, Hardin
followed Marlin to the University of Alabama
where he worked as a graduate assistant on
David Hobbs’ staff.
Hardin helped monitor the academic
progress of Crimson Tide student athletes
in each sport. He primarily worked with the
men’s basketball and baseball programs. He
also assisted with the daily Crimson Tide men’s
basketball practices.
Hardin attended the University of West
Florida in Pensacola while working at Pensacola
JC. He received his bachelor’s degree in Sports
Science from West Florida in 1995.
Hardin earned his Master of Arts degree
in Exercise Physiology from the University of
Alabama in 1998.
Hardin and his wife, Melissa, have two
daughters, Alexis and Natalie, and a son, Collin.

Kevin Johnson, a 14-year veteran of collegiate coaching, joined the Ragin’ Cajuns’ coaching
staff in September 2010 after spending the previous three seasons at Nicholls State. Before coaching
in Thibodaux, Johnson spent two seasons as an assistant at Louisiana Tech and was the head coach
at Centenary from 1999-2005.
In his first two seasons at Nicholls State, Johnson helped the Colonels to a 30- 32 record, including
a 20-11 mark and a 14-2 Southland Conference record in 2008-09. In 2008-09, the Colonels reached
the 20-win mark for the first time since 1994-95 and just the second time since Nicholls State moved
to Division I in 1980. His main duties included overseeing the Colonels’ on-court defense and
organizing recruiting efforts.
As the architect of Nicholls State’s defense, Johnson oversaw a 2008-09 defensive effort that led
the Southland Conference in rebounding defense (holding teams to 29.5 RPG) and finishing second
in steals (8.7 SPG) and scoring defense (allowing just 60.2 points/game).
In 2008-09, he helped the Colonel defense develop into one of the strongest units in the nation,
as Nicholls State finished 17th among NCAA Division I teams in steals and 18th in scoring defense.
In his time at Louisiana Tech, Johnson helped guide the Bulldogs to a 20-13 mark and an 11-5
conference ledger during the 2005-06 season and an appearance in the postseason NIT Tournament.
Before taking the job at Louisiana Tech, Johnson spent eight seasons at Centenary College, the
first two as an assistant under Billy Kennedy, the next six as head coach.
In those six years as head coach, Johnson compiled a 50-17 record at home. In 2003-04, Johnson
guided the Gents to a perfect 13-0 mark at home and a second-place finish in the Mid-Continent
Conference. In 2000-01, Ronnie McCallum led the nation in scoring, averaging 29.1 points per game.
Prior to his time in Shreveport, Johnson made coaching pit stops at UTPA (1996-97) and
Northwestern State (1989-90).
Johnson has coaching experience in the Cajundome, as he was a visitor with UTPA (2/15/97),
Centenary (2/7/02) and Louisiana Tech (12/2/06).
His familiarity with the Cajundome goes beyond his coaching tenure. As a senior, he led UTPA to
a 92-80 win over then-USL on Feb. 14, 1988. Johnson scored 25 points on 9-of-9 shooting, including
5-of-5 from beyond the arc, and grabbed seven rebounds in 36 minutes.
As a student-athlete at Texas-Pan American under head coach Lon Kruger, Johnson compiled
1,156 career points, which still ranks 13th all-time in the Broncos’ record books. His senior campaign
was his most notable statistical season as Johnson averaged 16.1 points per game, had a field-goal
percentage of .492 and a stellar .574 conversion rate from three-point range.
His three-point field-goal percentage led the American South Conference and ranked seventh in
the country. Johnson was named to the All-American South First Team in 1988 for his efforts.
Following his distinguished playing career at Texas-Pan American, Johnson headed overseas
to England where he played for the Liecester
Riders. He spent one season with the Riders
before accepting an assistant coaching position at
Northwestern State in 1989.
In 1990, Johnson returned to England to
become the head coach and play for the Oldham
Celtics. In 1992, he led the Celtics to a league
championship with a 25-1 record. Johnson also
averaged 33.0 points per game in Oldham’s
championship run and was nominated for coach
of the year.
In 1993, Johnson returned to the States to
become an assistant coach at Bryan High School
in Bryan, Texas and rejoined the college ranks in
1996 as an assistant at Texas-Pan American.
Johnson is a native of Morgan City, La., and
prepped at Morgan City High School. His brother,
Dave III, was an All-American at Syracuse and
a first-round NBA draft pick of the Portland
Trailblazers in 1992.
He has one daughter, Ceara.

coached in the Final Four and tutored several players who had lengthy NBA careers.
Johnson came to UL after spending the last three seasons as the associate head coach at
Louisiana Tech. The Bulldogs improved by nine wins in each of the last two seasons going from six
wins in 2007-08 to 24 wins in 2009-10.
In the 2009-10 season, Louisiana Tech finished 24-11 netting the most wins for the program since
1985. The Bulldogs received votes in the ESPN/USA Top 25 Poll and AP Top 25 Poll for the first time
since 1991 and earned a birth to postseason play for the first time in four years as they qualified for
the CollegeInsider.com Tournament.
Johnson recruited 2010 All-WAC Defensive Team, Second Team all-WAC and Second Team AllLSWA performer Magnum Rolle, who signed a multi-year contract with the Indiana Pacers in the
fall of 2010. He also recruited 2010 Honorable Mention All-LSWA performer Jamel Guyton as well as
2010 Honorable Mention All-LSWA performer Olu Ashaolu.
Prior to arriving at Louisiana Tech, Johnson was on John Brady’s staff at LSU for three seasons
(2004-05 through 2006-07). While at LSU, he was a part of a Final Four appearance and coached NBA
lottery-pick Tyrus Thomas.
Johnson went to LSU after six years with the University of New Orleans.
At UNO, Johnson worked under Joey Stiebing, and later Monty Towe. He helped the Privateers
land four recruiting classes that received strong marks in the national ratings. In his last year, as part
of Towe’s staff, he helped lead the Privateers to the championship game of the Sun Belt Tournament.
Prior to his tenure at UNO, Johnson was an assistant at Tennessee State in 1998 and at Duquesne
from 1995-98.
Johnson stepped onto the Division I scene as an assistant at Murray State from 1993-95. The
Racers won two Ohio Valley Conference championships and went on to play in the NIT and NCAA
Tournament.
A graduate of the University of West Georgia and Chipola Junior College, Johnson served as an
assistant coach at each of those schools, as well as Odessa (Texas) College before moving to the
Division I level
Johnson helped Chipola JC win six conference titles for coach Milton Johnson, the winningest
coach in Florida junior college history. Johnson was on the staff of the 1993 Odessa team that
finished eighth in the National Junior College Athletic Association Tournament.
Five coaches that Johnson worked for in Division I have been named Coach of the Year. That
included Joey Stiebing in 2001 when the UNO coach was named the Sun Belt Conference Coach of
the Year, and most recently Louisiana Tech’s Kerry Rupp who was named 2010 Louisiana Coach of
the Year.
In his first year with the Tigers, LSU was the co-champions of the SEC West and advanced to
the NCAA Tournament. In 2005-06 the Tigers
advanced to the NCAA Final Four - the
program’s first appearance in 20 years.
In addition to Tyrus Thomas at LSU other
Johnson-coached
student-athletes
that
enjoyed NBA success include Brandon Bass
(Orlando Magic), Glen “Big Baby” Davis (Boston
Celtics) and Anthony Randolph (New York
Knicks) who are all presently in the league.
Marcus Brown from Murray State, Mike James
from Duquense and Moochie Norris from
Odessa also had tenures of several years on an
NBA roster.
Johnson was born in Donaldsonville, Ga.,
and grew up in nearby Greenwood, Fla.
He earned regional, all-county and alldistrict honors for Marianna (Fla.) High. He
helped his team go 76-10 in three seasons,
including a pair of runner-up finishes in the
Class AAA state playoffs in 1977 and 1978.
He is married to the former Tonya Ramey of
Pittsburgh, Penn.

Injury Information
• The
Health
Insurance
Portability and
Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) regulates the
use and disclosure of certain information held
by “covered entities”. It establishes regulations
for the use and disclosure of Protected Health
Information (PHI). PHI is any information held by
a covered entity which concerns health status
and provision of health care that can be linked to
an individual. This is interpreted rather broadly
and includes any part of an individual’s medical
record.
• HIPAA Privacy Rule. Under the HIPAA Privacy
Rule, the University must reasonably limit uses
and disclosures of medical information to the
minimum necessary to accomplish their intended
purpose. In order to supply the media with
injury information related to student-athletes,
the University shall be limited to discussing the
athlete’s name, along with a broad term for the
injury and upcoming playing status.
• Student-athletes that miss practice due to an
injury will not be available to the media for postpractice interviews.
• Student-athletes that are injured during a game
will not be allowed to participate in post-game
media interviews.
• Members of the media should never approach
athletic trainers to discuss the injury of a
student-athlete. All covering news outlets,
including live television and radio broadcasts,
will be supplied with in-game injury information
by the SID.
• The SID office, in association with the athletic
trainer, will have an injury report available to the
media when necessary.
Parking
• Cajundome: Media parking at the Cajundome is
located on the north side of the arena (adjacent
to Congress Street). Parking lot entrance number
8 must be used exclusively. Passes must be

(you will not be allowed in the parking lot area
without a parking pass).
Media Services
• The Louisiana Sports Information staff provides the
working news media with a media workroom with
the sole purpose of writing and transmitting stories.
• It is located on the ground level of the north
quadrant of the Cajundome. Access to the press

ONLY.
• The media workroom opens approximately two

press facility and that cheering for either team
will not be tolerated. Violators will be asked to
leave by security personnel.
