Section 8.9.1 Moving a Dog to Specials: A dog which is individually
registered in the records of the CKC or that has a Miscellaneous Certification
Number (MCN) and has completed the requirements for a Championship in
accordance with these rules but at the time of the closing of entries for a
show has not received confirmation of the title, may be transferred from
one of the regular classes to Specials Only providing the transfer is
submitted to the Show Secretary in writing by the owner or handler at least
one hour prior to the opening of the show.
Section 8.9.2 If it is established that a dog transferred to Specials Only has
not completed the Championship requirements, all awards will be canceled
and all ribbons and prizes won shall be forfeited. The owner may also be
subject to disciplinary action.
Section 8.9.3 When one or more All-Breed and/or Specialty Shows are held
on the same day, in the same venue, the moving of class dogs to Specials
must be made prior to the scheduled opening of the first show.
Chapter 4 Judges Section 4.1.3 A judge officiating at a show held under
these rules shall not be subjected to indignities of any kind during the
progress of the show. It shall be the duty and obligation of the club holding
the show to see that this rule is effectively carried out.
Section 4.1.6 No person may approach a judge either directly or otherwise,
orally or in writing, to favor his entry. Disciplinary action will be taken
against any person who violates this rule or against a judge who fails to
report any contravention of this rule to the CKC within 14 days of the act.
Chapter 14 Disqualifying or Excusing Dogs
Section 14.1.4 Once a dog has been disqualified for any reason at a
conformation show, it may not be entered or shown at another show until
the dog has been reinstated by the CKC. All awards earned by a dog shown
in violation of this section will be cancelled by the CKC and the owner of the
dog is subject to disciplinary action. Note: for information on reinstatement,
see Chapter 14 Section 14.3 of the Dog Show Rules.
Championship Points and Cancellations
Section 15.1.1 A dog awarded Winners at a conformation show shall be credited
with a number of championship points (ranging from 0 to 5) and the number of
championship points credited to a dog awarded Winners shall be as provided
hereunder.
Section 15.1.2 The schedule to be employed in the determination of the number of
points awarded Winners shall be as follows:

*Includes the dog awarded Winners.
In counting the number of eligible dogs in competition, a dog that is disqualified,
dismissed, excused or ordered from the ring by the judge shall NOT be included in
the calculation for championship points.
Section 15.1.3 If a Dog awarded Winners was also awarded Best of Breed then at
the show all dogs competing in the breed, including Specials Only, shall be included
the total.
Section 15.1.4 If a Dog awarded Winners is also awarded Best of Opposite Sex to
Best of Breed, then all dogs of the same sex including those competing for Specials
Only shall be included in the total.
Section 15.1.5 If a Dog awarded Winners is also awarded Best of Winners, then all
dogs defeated directly or indirectly in the breed shall be included in the total.
Section 15.1.6 If a dog is awarded Winners only, then all the dogs of the same sex in
the class competition shall be included in the total.
Section 15.1.7 The number of championship points to be credited to a dog awarded
Winners shall be determined by the highest award earned and calculated as per this
section.
Clarification: Example of directly or indirectly defeating: If the Winners Bitch is
awarded Best of Opposite Sex but not Best of Winners, the Best of Winners Male
shall be deemed to have indirectly defeated the Specials Bitches, and is thus
entitled to add them to the number of dogs and bitches defeated.
Section 15.1.8 In addition to championship points allocated at the breed level, a
dog awarded Winners which also places in the regular Group competition shall be
credited with the following additional points provided that the dog was defeated at

the show has not received confirmation of the title, may be transferred from one of the regular classes to Specials Only
providing the transfer is submitted to the Show Secretary in writing by the owner/handler at least one (1) hour prior to the

ATTENTION - ALL FOREIGN EXHIBITORS
EVENT REGISTRATION NUMBER
Effective Jan/1992 all dogs that are foreign-born and foreign-owned and enter Canada for the sole purpose of entering CKC
(Canadian Kennel Club) events will no longer require a CKC registration number but will require an ERN - Event Registration
Number. This ERN does not register a dog with CKC for breeding purposes as defined in the Animal Pedigree Act but rather
enables a foreign-owned dog to be awarded titles by the Canadian Kennel Club. Each dog must have its own number. To
obtain an ERN, mail or fax a photocopy of the dog's foreign registration certificate with cheque or VISA/MasterCard number
(expiry date, cardholder's name and signature). Provide your complete address for return of the ERN to you.
Cost is $59.40 + 5% GST. ERN MUST BE APPLIED FOR WITHIN 30 DAYS OF FIRST DAY OF ENTERING A CKC EVENT. A CKC
ERN registration form can be downloaded from the CKC website: http://www.ckc.ca
CKC FAX NUMBER (416) 675-6506
CKC Non-Member Participation Fee
24-12-3. Non-member participation fee
a) An annual non-member participation fee for awards and titles will be charged to a Canadian non-member of
CKC. The fee is $59.40 + 5% GST.
b) In order to protect the awards/titles earned, the non-member will have a choice either to become a CKC
member or to pay the non-member participation fee. Failure to comply within 30 days of notification will cause
all awards and titles to be cancelled.
c) "these fees apply only to dogs wholly owned by Canadian resident non-CKC members and are not applicable
to CKC members"
*Please note that the CKC Membership Application and the Non-Member Participation Fee forms are available on the
website, http://www.ckc.ca under CKC Services and then Forms On-line. If submitting a Membership Application, please
ensure that you also complete the Non-Member Participation Fee form so that we are aware of the dogs involved.

Meet the Breeds Showcase
Following the success of the Purina Breeders Village last year the Meet the Breed Showcase will take place
throughout the summer show.
Once again it is our intention to showcase as wide a variety of CKC breeds as possible. Visitors can talk to
responsible breeders, owners and clubs that have the best interest of man’s best friend at heart to determine
the right breed for them. They will learn the strengths and qualities of our dogs, understand that we health test
our breeding stock, we place both show prospect and companion animals in the best homes available, and we
are always there to answer questions and provide support long after the puppy leaves our home.
By taking part in Meet the Breeds you will have the opportunity to promote your Club and your Breed. You will
be able to educate the public on the origins, purpose, temperament and abilities of your breed. We hope you
will have some materials to share with visitors and possibly even give a demonstration of the activities and
sports that your breed enjoys.
Please keep in mind that this is your opportunity to feature your breeds and promote the selection of a
purebred dog to interested, curious and sometimes misinformed prospective puppy owners. We would
welcome your suggestions to make this experience for new owners as informed and positive as possible, so
please do not hesitate to contact me with ideas.
This year you can reserve a Half Day, Full Day or the entire Four Days. Your club/breed will be provided with a
10x10 tent, table and two chairs.
Cost will be:
$10 per Half Day
$20 per Full Day
$40 for the weekend.
For further details and to book your place, please contact:
Heath Kenyon on 403 430-2605, or by email to [email protected]

Notice of Agreement
The Alberta Kennel Club reserves the right to refuse any entry subject to CKC Conformation Show Rules and Regulations
(8.6.1).
In consideration of the acceptance of this entry, I (we) agree to be bound by the rules and regulations of the Canadian
Kennel Club and by any additional rules and regulations appearing in this premium list.
I (we) agree to hold the Alberta Kennel Club, their members, directors, officers, agents, superintendents or show secretary
and the owner or lessor of the premises and any employees of the aforementioned parties, harmless from any claim for loss
or injury which may be alleged to have been caused directly or indirectly to any person or thing by the act of a dog while in
or upon the show premises or grounds or near any entrance thereto, and I (we) personally assume all responsibility and
liability for any such claim.
I (we) further agree to hold the aforementioned parties harmless from any claim for loss of a dog by disappearance, theft,
death or otherwise, and from any claim for damage or injury to the dog, whether such loss, disappearance, theft, damage
or injury be caused or alleged to be caused by the negligence of the Club or any of the parties aforementioned, or by the
negligence of any other person, or any other cause or causes.
I (we) hereby assume the sole responsibility for and agree to indemnify and save the aforementioned parties harmless from
any and all loss and expense (including legal fees) by reason of the liability imposed by law upon any of the aforementioned
parties because of bodily injuries, including death at any time resulting therefrom, sustained by any person or persons,
including myself (ourselves), or on account of damage to property, arising out of or in consequence of my (our)
participation in this show, howsoever such injuries, death or damage to property may be caused and whether or not the
same may have been caused and whether or not the same may have alleged to have been caused by negligence of the
aforementioned parties or any of their employees or agents, or any other person.
An “In Transit Area” for owner/handlers who are transporting dogs not entered in the show is offered. The dog’s
information and reason for its presence must be recorded with the Show Secretary and identifying information attached to
the dog’s crate.
If because of riot, civil disturbance or other acts beyond the control of the Alberta Kennel Club, it is impossible to open or
to complete the show, no refund of entry fees will be made.
The welfare of an exhibitor’s child is the responsibility of the exhibitor. It should be understood that exhibitors will exercise
control and restraint over their children. The Alberta Kennel Club will not be responsible for injury to any child whether by
accident or any other cause.
Dogs should arrive in adequate time for their breed judging (allowing for absentees). It is the responsibility of the exhibitors
to have the dog at ringside when the dog’s class is scheduled for judging. Waiting for dogs will not be possible and handlers
with several breeds must arrange for alternate handlers if judging times for their breeds’ conflict.
The Alberta Kennel Club will not allow the use of spike or pinch collars on its show grounds.
Please note: The show is a public event, candid photos and/or videos may be taken on the show premises.
Such images may be published in print or on a web-site without your consent. By entering this dog show, you

Planning Your Stay at the Summer Classic

You must clean up after your dog. Please Keep Baggies With You At All Times. Discourage the boys from casually lifting their
legs on fences, posts, trees or shrubs. Think of this as your home for the weekend – we are sure that you wouldn’t allow it
in your house so don’t let it happen on the show grounds.
Failure to pick-up after your dogs will result in automatic expulsion from the show and the show grounds. This will be
enforced.
