New business opens
its doors in Carbondale
By Jennifer Butler
Your vehicle has made it
through another winter so does
it not deserve a break? J&J Corrigan Auto Detailing is here to
help.
The new business opened its
door at 64 N. Main Street, adjacent to the car wash, in Carbondale only two months ago and
is ready for the spring cleaning
of your vehicle. Jerry Corrigan,
is no novice at the business,
having been working on cars
since a young boy with his father, Jerry, Sr.
Born and raised in the West
Side of Carbondale, Corrigan
graduated from Sacred Heart
High School in 2003 and, on the
advice of his father, earned his
bachelor’s degree in business
from the University of Scranton
in 2009. “My dad wanted me to
have an education and some experience before I set out to follow my dream of owning my
own business,” he noted.
Upon graduating he worked
for various agencies, the last of
which was as a drug and alcohol intake counselor, prior to
deciding to go off on his own in
the business he enjoyed most car detailing. “I can be my own
boss now,” he admits.
The businessman gets right
to work on his next vehicle
which means washing, hand
drying, waxing, buffing, polishing tires, rims, wheel walls before he heads to the interior to
thoroughly clean, vacuum, and
shampoo. “When we are finished it looks like a brand new
car,” he admits.
The young man self-contracts
with Jon Pringle and Adam
Sweder to get the jobs done.
To make an appointment or
to gain more information call
or text him at 570-766-8607 or
go to Facebook at J & J Corrigan
Auto Detailing. Corrigan is also
running a special in the month
of March which can be found
on his Facebook page and check
out his ad on page 4 of this edition.
The business is currently
open Monday through Saturday at 9 a.m. and available Sundays by appointment.
Corrigan says his dad, Jerry
Sr., has always been his greatest
inspiration and his mom, Rosie,
his greatest supporter. He and a
friend restored his father’s 1955
Chevy Bel-air as a surprise for
a car show on Father’s Day. The
vehicle now sits in front of his
business.
He is grateful to the support
of his girlfriend, Janelle Nestrick, and his sisters, Kaitlin Yacone and Abby Corrigan, who
have always been there for him.
Baseball/Softball Assoc.
Fundraising for New Field
The Forest City Baseball/Softball Association has been developing a softball program for the last
five years, but has no dedicated
softball field for the program to
use. Looking to fix this issue, the
association is running an online
fundraising campaign on RedBasket.org, a free crowdfunding website, to help pay for the building of
a new field.
For the past several years, the
softball program has been getting
by with sharing a field with the
baseball program. However, this
field is not designed for playing
softball. A group recently came
together to create a multi-use field
for the softball program as well
as other local programs. “We are
attempting to raise money to convert an old, rundown, baseball
field into a beautiful new softball
field for the girls of our community for generations to come,” said
Judy Graham, a coordinator of the
fundraiser.
This project will benefit the entire community in many ways. It
will serve as a multi-use field for
youth and adult softball, as well
as pre-teen and teen baseball. The
new complex will improve Kennedy Park, a popularly used facility, and help bring tournaments
and visitors into the community.
In order assist with the expenses of this project, the association
is running an online fundraising
campaign through RedBasket.
org, a nonprofit crowdfunding
website sponsored by WoodmenLife. Every penny donated to
this project will go directly to the
association. No fees are charged
when giving through Red Basket.
To support this new softball field
with your tax deductible donation, visit RedBasket.org/857.
