COURSE B
ENGLISH FOR SPECIAL PURPOSES (ESP) COURSES
This course may be combined
with a Weekender course.
There is a growing demand for intensive English language courses that are
very closely related to a specific professional area. Our short, concentrated
ESP courses meet that demand. Our ESP courses have developed naturally to
highlight some of the strengths of Chester.
LESSONS/HOURS PER WEEK
35 lessons / 26¼ hours
including:
• 20 Executive Group lessons
• 15 individual ESP lessons
Many of our executive clients have two basic requirements:
• to develop their fluency in a general business context
• to have some specific English language training in their own professional area
START DATES
Any Monday between 17
January and 16 December for 1
week only
AGE LIMIT

These needs can be met on our English for Special Purposes Courses. The first is best done
through interaction between members of a small class. This is skillfully guided by our very
professional trainers. The second is achieved through individual lessons.
We have worked in the corporate market for many years and have developed several areas
of expertise, which we can now offer as ESP courses. English in Chester has excellent local
contacts in many professional areas. These contacts, both at an academic and more practical
level, are often involved in our ESP courses.

elements giving participants a well-balanced, enjoyable and useful weekend. Special features
of our Weekender programme include:
• English language classes at two levels
• Focus on improving communication
• Very small classes
• Conversation practice with a teacher in a relaxed social environment

service and look after you from the time of arrival in this country. We also
provide many opportunities for an exciting, interesting and active social life.
ACCOMMODATION
Over 90% of our students have homestay accommodation, which we recommend. It is the best
way to meet people, practise your English and discover more about our culture. There are some
very special points about living in our region:
• The people are famous for their hospitality and have time to talk to you
• The standard of our homestay accommodation is excellent. We are the only school in
Chester and can therefore set high standards for our host families
• The cost of living is a little lower than in the south of England

Most of our students come to us because someone they know has recommended
English in Chester and the city of Chester to them. Some students choose Chester for
very special reasons: it is near a branch of the multinational company they work for;
they have friends in the area; their favourite football team is nearby. Some students
know very little about Chester when they arrive. All our students have been delighted
with the city and with the welcome they receive here.
Chester is a very nice city to live in. It is the perfect size; big enough to offer a really
good range of services but not too big to be impersonal. It is a university city that
welcomes millions of tourists. There is an excellent tourist infrastructure with a lot to
see and do when school is over and at the weekends. It is a busy and prosperous city
which our students really like.
YOUR FREE TIME
Your free time is an opportunity to consolidate your English and find out more about
Chester and the surrounding area. The optional excursion programme gives you a
chance to do this.
Chester is also the perfect centre for the independent traveller:
• There is an excellent local rail network
• There are cheap flights from local airports for students who want to explore Europe
• There are many possibilities for exciting weekends away or days out

English in Chester looks after you from the moment you arrive in England. We offer a
friendly taxi transfer service to your homestay from our local airports (Manchester and
Liverpool). It takes approximately 40 minutes.
We are really easy to get to. Most European students will
be able to fly direct to Manchester or Liverpool. Other
students can fly via airports like Paris, Frankfurt, Madrid or
Amsterdam. This is much more convenient than flying via
London.
