Churchill County High School Rodeo
MARKET
OVERVIEW
Fallon, located 74.6 miles east of Reno, is a rapidly growing community of 25,000
people. It is the county seat of Churchill County and a regional shopping hub for an
additional 48,000 people living in several smaller communities in the surrounding area.
Fallon’s strong agricultural heritage is evident through its vibrant summer Farmer’s
Market, Cantaloupe Festival and Silver State International Rodeo - the second largest
high school rodeo in America.
THREE AMAZING FACTS!
1
Churchill County produces enough
dairy products to serve the needs of 1.2
million people.
2
Fallon is known as the ‘Oasis of Nevada’
because of the nearly 60,000 lush acres
of alfalfa grown there.
3
Fallon has been the home of the Fallon
Naval Air Station since 1942 and houses
the Navy’s TOP GUN school.
The Lahontan Valley News was originally founded as the
Churchill Standard in 1903. Swift Communications, a
Nevada-based company, has owned and operated the
newspaper since 2003. Serving the Lahontan Valley and
surrounding communities, the paid newspaper is published on Wednesday and Friday, averaging 2,798 copies
per edition. The Lahontan Valley News and its affiliated
website, www.lahontanvalleynews.com, focus on local
and community news. The Lahontan Valley News enjoys
higher than average readership, with 75% of local adults
saying they read the paper during the course of one week.
The Lahontan Valley News has received numerous awards
from the Nevada Press Association and the National
Newspaper Association.
