PHILIPPINES
MLM Phase 1 rapidly erupted among Philippine church leaders. One woman took the training from
the Manila conference and adapted it into cell group materials. This format was less threatening to
propose to church pastors due to their lack of formal Bible school training. Church by church began to adopt the Million Leaders Mandate teaching from Roselyn’s zealous presentations. Roselyn
commented, “I have learned one thing- seasoned pastors have kept their leadership and wisdom
because of their openness to new ideas and their humility to be trained by others.” By her training
alone, Roselyn took MLM training to hundreds of church pastors and church
leaders all over the Philippines.
CHINA
Jackie Su shares what the leadership curriculum is accomplishing in China, as he and his wife train other leaders, including the
employees of Kent Ridge Consulting.
Kent Ridge Consulting (KRC) is a Chinese-owned Singaporebased consulting company serving multi-billion Yuan Chinese
enterprises, mainly in the Tobacco and Airport Industries. Two of
the three partners are graduates of the National University of Singapore
MBA program. They are yet to be believers. Up to February, they had a
total of 30 employees, and recently they have just recruited about 20 more people from all over
China.
Three of their employees are members of our church. One in particular is
the Sales Manager (Ms. QC) who introduced us to one of the partners (Mr. Lao). Ms. QC was saved
less than a year ago and when Mr. Lao saw many changes in her for the better and heard her testimony, he realized that what his employees need at this time is character building. Most of his employees are excellent and talented; however, if they were to develop further, having good values is
essential.
On Feb 9, my wife and I conducted a 3-hour training based on the “21 Indispensable Qualities of a
Leader” material, mainly on the topics of Charisma, Character, and Relationship. The whole company including the three partners attended. Even though most of the attendees were consultants themselves and some were trainers, they were attentive throughout the training.
After the training, their feedback was positive and encouraging. Mr. Lao said, “Our employees all
read a lot and have been through quite a lot of trainings, it is hard to get them a training that they
feel add values to them. Your training this morning has made an impact.”
He concluded, “We thank our Father for the opportunity of being trained by EQUIP and being able to
use the Biblical values and principles to make a difference in this nation. We thank you for your commitment to help us grow and become leaders that will change the world for the glory of our Lord.”
KARACHI, PAKISTAN TTT 6
Propelling from MLM graduation in Karachi, Pakistan, the leadership movement among this culture
has been described as “an outbreak of EQUIP epidemic!” North Point Community Church, an EQUIP
church partner, sent Associate Trainers to train in Karachi over the past few years. They recently informed us a mere handful of these certified trainers are taking MLM to over 2,000 others among the
Sindh Province of Pakistan.
LAHORE, PAKISTAN TTT 1
“I am a Bible student here and I attended your Leadership Conference of
two days held in Lahore, Pakistan. I wanted to let you know that it was just
awesome. It was the greatest conference I ever attended. I really enjoyed
it there and more importantly I received great knowledge and great blessings!! I just wanted to appreciate your team and your founder Dr. JOHN C MAXWELL. It is great work what you are doing and I pray for your
team that God blesses them more and more and leads them
and uses them for his glory. Amen! I am sending you a picture I took with one of the teachers who taught in that conference. It is of me with Mr. Ken. Once again blessings for your team
and remember me in your prayers.” -Salas John
CENTRAL ASIA
Geoff is a former Air Force pilot who served three tours of duty in Viet Nam and flew over 230 bombing raids over Viet Nam and Cambodia. Geoff now lives in Singapore and serves as an EQUIP Associate Trainer under the umbrella of Equipping Leaders for Asia. The top leader of the underground
church movement in Viet Nam said to Geoff, “You came to our country almost 40 years ago with
M-16 to defend our political freedom, but now you come with John 3:16 to help us effectively spread
spiritual freedom to every person in our nation.” He added, “The Viet Cong used
bullets to conquer the South, but we are using Bibles to win the entire nation to our Lord Jesus. The
EQUIP training gives us the skills and the strategy to complete the task.”
GRADUATION and EXPANSION

Last fall, EQUIP graduated the leaders from the original 20 sites in Africa. The
African leaders received MLM with deep gratitude and we keep hearing stories
from Phase 1 in Africa.
MLM continues to spread virtually throughout Africa through conferences put on by
national leaders. We recently heard of Pieter de Villiers, a mayor in Namibia who graduated from
MLM Phase 1 as a Certified Trainer. His organization, “Every Home for Christ,” is taking MLM to six cities in Angola on his own! He trains from 90 to 195 leaders from numerous denominations at each site
-- all of the sites have completed Notebook 1 and one site has completed Notebook 2. Pieter and his
team print and copy the notebooks themselves and bind them by hand in order to train and resource
the Angolan leaders.
SOUTH AFRICA
Photo: Pastor Joshua Mtanyelwa
Joshua has graduated from MLM Phase 1 and became a national trainer of MLM
in East London, South Africa. He has a heart to raise money to help the children in
the slums of East London. He shared about the impact it has had on his leadership:
“MLM has been a great tool to me as the Pastor of a growing church. It has helped
me to grow in my leadership and to grow other people. Before MLM came I was a lid
more than a leader which affected the growth of the church. MLM has given me a
right to lead again.”
NIGERIA
Photo (below): Ijebu-Ode conference
Olu is originally from the area of Ijebu-Ode, Nigeria. He now is returning to his
homeland to equip Nigerian leaders. At the conference this spring, he shared
that there were 115 leaders who were trained, and most reported to train an average of 35 leaders each. Leaders are continuing to be trained in Africa, even
after the original 20 sites have graduated from MLM.
KENYA
Photo: Onesmus Weru, Country Coordinator
Onesmus is the Christian Leadership Institute Director for ICM in Africa. Onesmus
shared the impact that MLM had on his own personal leadership journey, which
impacted his leadership of MLM throughout all of Kenya. Onesmus said, “MLM
has greatly impacted my attitude. I no longer get worried or scared as problems
come. I now see them not as problems, but as opportunities for a greater commitment.” He shared, “Through MLM, I have identified my inner circle--people who
work with me, help me, and keep me accountable. These people have greatly
enhanced my communication, integrity, and people skills.” Onesmus is passionate
about MLM and continues to train leaders in Kenya, even after the end of Phase 1
in Africa.
Onesmus shared about a pastor who said, “EQUIP material has saved my marriage. These leadership
principles have become a light on my conscience as a father, leader, and a husband.”
Onesmus also told us about another pastor he interviewed recently. He said EQUIP has done his
church wonders. The church has grown from 110 people to over 600 people in the last 3 years. They
have opened up 3 new churches and the pastor has developed 6 other pastors in this 3 year period.
The pastor attributes much of this growth to EQUIP training and he said, “Give God the glory!”
Rev. Ayiro (pictured to the right) is senior pastor of Kingdom Center in Nairobi, Kenya.
He said that MLM came at the right time for him personally and for his
leadership when he was just starting Kingdom Center. He shared that MLM
impacted him to the level that now as a minister he ministers with confidence.
Because of his passion for training leaders and the MLM curriculum,
Rev. Ayiro equipped 40-50 leaders on a monthly basis in the MLM material.
He shared that people were “getting it;” every month they received something new that prepared them to equip those they were leading. He shared
his excitement over leaders being trained, many who have never before
been trained in leadership. He said that through MLM he has seen leaders grow
to maturity by growing in their leadership capacity.

March, 2007 – TTT # 5
From the very first conference I received a revelation of the importance of this work and that I need
to be very careful how I use this material, how important it is for me to take it to other people. I started
with the small group of 1-2 people. Then I trained other groups of 3-4 people. Every time I trained the
same course to these different groups I learned something new for myself. I finally had a group of 35
people; half of them were not Christians. Today 3 of them accepted Jesus Christ
as their Lord and Savior. Four of these people have become very successful in
business.
The fact that I had to teach these courses several times to different groups
undoubtedly helped me to understand this material better. My mind was
transformed; my vision of servant-hood was renewed. I just fell in love with
this material.
I continue to train my group of leaders and also I teach these lessons
in my home small group. Every summer I go to Moscow where I meet with
pastors from other former Soviet Union republics and I gladly share with them my
knowledge and my experience.
Andrey, my co-leader at my home small group who has been with me from the very beginning became a trainer himself. I do the trainings in Kemerovo and in Leninsk-Kuznetskiy, and Andrey does the
seminars in the town of Berezovskiy. Between the two of us we train leaders in churches of three different towns. All our trainings have great success. Thank you, Pastor John Maxwell for enabling us to be a
part of this great movement and to spread the gospel in Siberia!
I especially thank those who organized these seminars in Krasnoyarsk. Our teachers – Pastor Karl and
John – are the best!!! They are tremendous teachers and a wonderful team!

March 2007 -- TTT # 4
Dear Nadya,
I am participating in the MLM program in Nuremb erg, Germany. Since we started the training, our
church has gone through a complete reorganization in the last four years. MLM came at just the right time
for us to be able to apply the teaching that we have received in virtually every area, from casting vision to
mentorin g new leaders. We have grown to a leadership of 21 people and have a unity in vision and purpose that
we have never experienced before. In addition to teaching MLM, I am presently using a teaching from John
Maxwell, “Raising up Lay Leaders with a Heart for God” which is being taught only to my 19 top church
leaders.
The whole atmosphere of our church has completely changed in the last 18 months and we have gotten so
much better in “Equippin g the Believers for the Work of the Ministry.” The church is growing continually, and
80% of our members are involved in some type of ministry.
I just want to say that I have gone through many other conferences and have listened to approximately 300
ministry related tapes in the last ten years, but the MLM has given us a tool to be able to apply all the
knowledge that we´ve had in the past. We will be eternally grateful for MLM and are planning to use this as
a foundation al teaching for our leaders, as well as the foundations for leadership teaching in our bible school.
Not long ago, we met the Polish pastor at a pastors’ meeting in Thessalonika. After we met him, he sent
some newsletters and one of his newsletters touched our hearts because of his work with homeless and poor
people. We asked if we could help and have taken a helps transport to him at Christmas.
During our visit there at Christmas, we told him about MLM and how we feel that it has helped us. He
already knew about John Maxwell`s leadership teaching and asked us if we would be interested in coming back
and teaching some of this to his leaders.
We have just returned from Poland where we did the training for his church. There were a lot of questions
and answers. We will be going back to continue the teaching. His people said it was the best leadership meeting
they have ever had. We feel honored that God has chosen us to be able to work with this church.
I hope that this will encourage you. If I could stand before your staff and people that made this training possible, I could only praise everyone for the hard work and the vision that God has given you and for the
kindness I am experiencing.
With love in Christ,
Pastor Watson and Erika Kluttz
EQUIP launched MLM in Latin America in January 2006 in partnership with Lidere. Currently, there are
19 sites in 12 countries in Latin America. Most sites are in TTT 3 this spring. We have received excellent
reports from TTT 3 that the training is just getting better and better and making a difference in leaders’
lives.
VALENCIA, VENEZUELA
National Coordinator Alejandro Mendoza described Train the Trainers 3:
“The atmosphere of the TTT 3 event was great! . . . Many Certified Trainer’s
claimed…’this is getting better every time’.”
Pastor Arnaldo Arenas, from Christian Life Church in Valencia, said, “There is no
doubt that something great is happening in our city. God is touching the leadership through this project. I had never seen before so many pastors and leaders from
different denominations stepping over their differences, all together willing to be trained.”

Craycroft, National Coordinator Oscar Zamora
Pastor Pedro Tapayuri and his wife Teresa are Certified Trainers in northern,
Peru. They are missionaries who have served the native communities in Peru
for 28 years. They speak 5 native languages. They have to travel 15 days by
boat to get to the Iquitos conference! That’s commitment!
Those who know them say, “Their fruits are visible. They have raised men and women as they are,
and some of them will go to the conference. They are a blessing, and UML project will be a valuable
instrument to enrich their work and Evangelism in the Peruvian jungle.”

signed covenants.
Guatemalan National Coordinator Alex Lopez shared that some denominations
were at first hesitant to get involved in MLM and did not attend the conferences. Some of the Certified Trainers from Alex’s church decided to take the
training to these leaders. Now one of these Certified Trainers is training 500 leaders and another is training 200 leaders from these once-reluctant
denominations. A by-product of MLM is that the Lord is using it to
bring unity to the body of Christ.

“. . .through the MLM project I’ve been able to understand the true work of a
leader. This has been very helpful for restructuring my ministry, my life and my family as well. I want to thank-you for giving El Salvador the chance to have this sort of
training at a professional level.”

Pastor William Luna

“We are working with 175 leaders. This has been a constant work, and we feel very
motivated. Every leader has taken the challenge with perseverance because the
material is excellent. This training is relevant to our time and leadership, and responds to the Latin-American church needs”.
SANTA CRUZ, BOLIVIA
Larry and Patty Morehead
Operation Restoration
Larry and Patty Morehead are on staff with “Operation Restoration,” a ministry that shares the love and truth of Christ to children and teens living on
the streets of Bolivia. They help rescue these children and teens who are
caught in petty theft for survival, drugs, prostitution, and sexual abuse. The
Director of Operation Restoration, Roger Hulford, attends the MLM conferences in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. He is training a group of leaders, including Larry
and Patty, through the MLM curriculum.
Patty shared that the lesson on mentoring greatly impacted her. She said, “It was very impacting because we counsel a lot of people--in the church and on the streets. I was challenged that . . . it’s not
just about saying something spiritual, but giving of your time and of yourself.”
When asked, “What would you want to say to those that are giving to this project?” she commented:
“The first thing to say is “Thank you very much” because you have been able to really rescue and
bring out the real leadership of Jesus and to put it in such a practical way so that many people in my
country could learn. Thank you very much for being committed to preparing leaders. I think that if
you continue with the leadership program there is the possibility to reach a lot of people in different
areas of society for Christ. Leaders in Bolivia can impact people in the farthest areas of the earth and
thank you for helping us to take that step.”
Each and every day we hear story after story of how relationships are being built between the Associate Trainers and the National leaders on the ground. Each Associate Trainer brings back
the stories of the people’s hearts and desire for leadership training. We have over
125 Associate Trainers currently training around the world.
Iquitos, Peru
Lloyd Claycroft (Associate Trainer) and Enoc (Certified Trainer)
EQUIP offered to Lloyd two sites in Peru, although he never felt a calling to a particular country he knows that he was chosen by God to develop a friendship with
his new friend, Enoc.
Enoc has a unique story in his travels to and from the conference in Iquitos. Iquitos is in
north Peru in the jungle area. Enoc is the fruit of an American missionary couple who worked up the
river. They knew him as a boy and grew him up to be the pastor he is now.
Enoc travels sun up to sun down in a dug out canoe for 3 straight days while spending the night in
a passing village. One of the biggest dangers while traveling on the river is being caught in a large
whirlpool. After traveling for 3 days in his canoe, he then travels on a riverboat for 5 days where he
finally arrives for the MLM conference in Iquitos.
It’s this personal sacrifice that hit the heart of Lloyd and shows Enoc’s commitment to leadership
training and his heart for the Great Commission. Meeting Enoc changed Lloyd’s view on the word
sacrifice. Traveling for 16 days for 1 conference is a true sacrifice. Enoc is training over 100 people in
the MLM Curriculum. Lloyd and Enoc now have a relationship that will last long after MLM
training.

Mark Harrell
“These ministers are starting to bond more than ever before and the flow of teaching improves each time. I went back to Wroclaw after the training with several
of the ministers and my wife and I held a marriage seminar. Then on Sunday,
two of the pastors who participate in the Million Leader Mandate, canceled
their services at their churches, rented a larger room at a hotel and held a
joint service that I ministered at. All this is fruit from the conferences.”
Valencia, Venezuela
Glenn Smith and Phil Munsey (Associate Trainers)
“Let’s not think even for a moment that this is about us, because all that we do is about God Himself. This is bigger than one organization or man, it is about His Presence. I am honored
for being able to serve you. I am only your servant.” – Pastor Glenn Smith
“I am convinced that God Himself is bringing revival to Venezuela. This is the most
exciting thing that has happened to me in my whole life and I want to keep on
being part. There are millions ready for being saved in this country and all those
who are involved in UML Project are the strength who will reach them.”
– Pastor Phil Munsey
EQUIP has developed over 26 strategic partnerships, with each one delivering the EQUIP Million Leader Mandate Leadership material through their own stream of influence – better and more effectively
then we could. Let me highlight three of these partnerships:
Founded by Mike Griffin:
Mike came to Malaysia from America over thirty years ago as a Peace Corps
volunteer. While serving in Asia, he gave his heart to Christ. He also met a
lovely Malaysian Chinese lady named Joyce. They married and today they
have two beautiful daughters, Jade and Jasmine.
Mike started a business in Indonesia and later in India. He developed exceptional skills as a trainer in the corporate arena. As Mike grew in the Lord,
he came to realize that he needed to devote more of his time and financial
resources to the work of the Lord.
Mike searched for a way to use his skills as a trainer in a cause that would advance the fulfillment of
the Great Commission. In January 2003 he was in Mumbai, India on a business trip when he learned
that John Maxwell would be in the city launching the Million Leaders Mandate project in India. Because he loved John Maxwell’s books, he decided to attend.
When Mike arrived at the conference site, he met Dr. Doug Carter in the hallway. Doug is convinced
that it was no accident that they greeted each other that day. Mike and Doug began a conversation about EQUIP and the vision and strategy to develop a million effective Christian leaders around
the world. Mike knew immediately that he had found the mission in which he would use his skills and
invest his financial resources.
Without asking for anything from EQUIP except permission to use the curriculum,
Mike volunteered to take the MLM training to as many nations in Asia as possible. Within a few
months he had founded a non-profit ministry, based in Singapore, known as Equipping Leaders for
Asia. EQUIP personnel helped him train a team of forty Asian associate trainers who would travel
throughout Asia and teach the MLM curriculum. Today they are systematically training Christian
leaders in China, Northeast India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh,
Nepal, Mongolia, New Zealand, Australia, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Borneo, Kazakhstan, North Korea
and Singapore. Mike is generously and joyfully investing thousands of dollars to train thousands of key
leaders in SE Asia.

Compassion certified trainers will train all field office Leadership Development Program Specialists
and selected LDP students from each country as “first generation” certified trainers. Annually, LDP
Specialists and selected student leaders will be trained on two curriculum
books over a three year period.
Trained field staff and student leaders will then train LDP students as the
second generation. The training will be conducted at every university location. Students will be trained on two curriculum books every year.
Finally, all trained LDP students will be challenged to apply and demonstrate what they have learned
from the training by teaching other faithful young men and women in their churches, universities and
communities where applicable.
Field Offices with Leadership Development Programs are to ensure quality Leadership Training for LDP
Students in their respective countries.
• Compassion LDP is currently working in fifteen developing countries.
• Currently we have 1300 LDP students registered in our program.
Joyce Meyer Ministries and EQUIP are officially partnering in India, Rwanda, and Cambodia.
Joyce Meyer has an incredible passion for countries that have been
oppressed and experienced severe pain, so she has a great heart for
these nations.
Scott Norling will be heading up MLM India, opening dynamic opportunities to cover this country with Christian leadership. Twice a year for 3
years India’s top leaders will gather in Hyderabad to be trained with EQUIP’s Volume 2 material, beginning in May 2007. From the Hyderabad training, these leaders will take this material to personally
train at 25 additional sites around the country.
Stemming from the India project, Norling designated one of his key leaders to compose an MLM
team in Cambodia. Jesse McCaul, who has lived in Cambodia for over ten years, was recently selected to serve as the Cambodian National Coordinator. Cambodia’s MLM conferences will begin in
the capital city Phnom Penh starting July 2007. This specific site is a beautiful example of partnerships- EQUIP curriculum will be taught by ELA Associate Trainers, all funded by Joyce Meyer Ministries.
Michael and Pennie Shepherd are heading up the initiative in Rwanda and recently returned in
March from meeting with key leaders to lay the groundwork for MLM in Rwanda. They are tentatively
planning to launch the first site in the Fall 2007.
We are certainly blessed by the partnership of Joyce Meyer Ministries. With our hearts and minds focused on the same agenda, we will collectively carry out the Great Commission as one.

will be visiting: Cali, Colombia; Brasilia, Brazil; Sao Paulo, Brazil; Cordoba, Argentina; Santiago, Chile; and
Mexico City, Mexico.
Earlier this year Winnie and I had the wonderful privilege of living and serving for two months in the
Asia-Pacific region. We were abundantly blessed as we endeavored to provide
encouragement and mentoring for our ministry partners in China, Hong Kong,
India, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Viet Nam and Borneo
(East Malaysia). Over and over and over we saw first hand how powerfully EQUIP is making a difference in the lives of the difference makers.
The top leader of the underground church networks in Viet Nam said,
“We have vision and passion to reach our entire nation, but it seemed an
impossible task until the EQUIP training and workbooks gave us the skills
and strategy necessary to see the dream become a reality.”
One underground leader in China said, “We have suffered
under tyrants and lived in the fires of persecution. God has kept us faithful.
The EQUIP training and resources are equipping us to reach the huge cities
of China for Christ and to become a mission force to reach all of Asia with
the Gospel.”
A leading pastor in Cambodia declared, “Pol Pot and the
Khmer Rouge brutally slaughtered an entire generation of
leadership in our nation. We are starting over as a nation and as a church. Leadership training is our most urgent need. The EQUIP training is the solution to this
need!”
Our time in Asia was a forceful reminder of the impact of EQUIP around the world.
We are making a difference in the lives of the difference makers.
