May 2015 newsletter - Family Promise of Southern Chester County
May 2015 Creating a self-sustaining livelihood for children and families experiencing homelessness in Southern Chester County, Pennsylvania President’s Report The past 60 days have been AMAZING for Family Promise of Southern Chester County as we work to achieve our vision of “alleviating homelessness in Southern Chester County, Pennsylvania.” Hundreds, yes, really… HUNDREDS of people have become directly involved to assure a successful Family Promise startup by September 1, 2015. Financial donations from individuals, organizations and congregations have graciously begun to stream in. Nearly all the churches in southern Chester County are having enthusiastic conversations about HOW (not “if”) they can support our future family/children clients. Individuals and businesses are generously sharing goods and services to support us. It is SO gratifying to see a transformation of our area community evidenced by everyone communicating, working and sharing TOGETHER for the benefit of all concerned. Our sincere THANKS to all who are committed to making a difference in the lives of fellow neighbors, parents and children who may be impacted by homelessness. We “promise” to make sure your efforts are fulfilled as we develop the “promise” that exists in everyone to lead a wonderful family life. The GSR initiative encouraged each parishioner to… 1) Love our neighborhood by signing up for (at least) 1 community service project; 2) Donate 2 pound of food for a local Food Cupboard; 3) Provide a financial donation specifically to Family Promise SCC of $30/adult and $3/youth. Churches included Christian Life Center (New London), Presbyterian Church of Kennett Square and Willowdale Chapel. Our CONGRATULATIONS and THANKS to all the caring and generous members of these congregations for working together to donate over $31,000+ to Family Promise SCC.
