Gli Orti (that means ‘gardens’) is a refined receptive environment close to the Ticino River, in the historic centre of

The restoration of this building was completed in 2006 and the first official event made was the visit of the Holy Father
Pope Benedict XVI in April 2006.

The story of how Petrarch, the Poet Laureate himself, not only found inspiration and enlightment at the magnificent
court of Pavia, becoming the Spiritual Father of the University, but also found a place to call home.
It is a special opening of the University of Pavia (one of the most ancient in Europe).
During the visit, the famous tenor Gigi Viciani born in Pavia, accompanied by the notes of a piano, will sing some
“arias” that made Italy famous all over the world!

Malaspina Palace is located in Piazza Petrarca and consists of two distinct parts: an eighteenth-century building and a
neoclassical one. The first, now used as representative office of the Prefecture, looks onto Via San Zeno, and it
contains some beautiful rooms with stucchi and original furnishings. The second building looks onto Piazza Petrarca,
and has a severe façade built to the design of the Marquis Luigi Malaspina (1754-1835), owner of the building. The
façade is decorated with three marble bas-reliefs, the work of Gaetano Matteo Monti, an artist born in Ravenna.
The cocktail and dinner will be prepared and served by Bardelli Banqueting of Pavia.
Part of the profits will be donated to ACCR (The Charitable Association de la Chaine des Rotisseurs).

This tour includes transfers from and to the selected hotels.
La Certosa is a monastery and complex situated 8 km north of Pavia.
Built in 1396, by the will of Gian Galeazzo Visconti as a sort of family mausoleum, it was completed almost a century
later by the Sforza dynasty.
It was once located on the border of a large hunting park belonging to the Visconti family of Milan, of which today
only scattered parts remain.
Certosa is the Italian name for a house of the cloistered monastic order of Carthusians founded by St. Bruno in 1044
at Grande Chartreuse. Though the Carthusians in their early centuries were known for their seclusion and asceticism
and the plainness of their architecture, the Certosa is renowned for the exuberance of its architecture, in both the
Gothic and Renaissance styles, and for its collection of artworks which are particularly representative of the region.
The guided tour tells a site that summarizes different styles, from Gothic to Renaissance, to the Baroque, in a
fascinating landscape dominated by silence. The complex includes several buildings, which can be visited together
with a guide for a part and then with a Monk: the façade of the church, richly decorated by the work of many
sculptors, then the two cloisters, the refectory, the 24 cells of the monks and the Duke Palace. The interior is a
triumph of rich frescoes.
The monastery belonged to the order of Carthusians founded by St. Bruno in 1044 at Grande Chartreuse. The monks
living there today (Cistercian) welcome visitors and operate a small shop where they sell liquor, candy and other
specialties of their production.
The tour will move from La Certosa to the center of Pavia, in one of the most haunting churches, where tales of
miracles, courage and adventure weave a timeless tapestry of faith and devotion.
At the end of the tour you’ll be transferred to "Gli Orti" restaurant for the seated buffet lunch ( if previously booked)
or to your hotel if you are not participating to this lunch.

Dinner prepared by two Confrères from the Bailliage of Piacenza e Antica Eridania: chef Maître Rôtisseur Claudio
Cesena (Cascina Scova Restaurant) and Chef Maître Rôtisseur Ennio De Marco (Gourmet Catering).
Our Chefs will serve selected local specialties (including local cold meats and cheeses produced in Piacenza and Pavia,
and considered as symbol of this region, …. ) and wines.
The Belgioioso Castle is a monument in the town of Belgioioso, just a few kilometers from Pavia.
It was probably founded by Galeazzo II in the second half of the fourteenth century in an extensive property of the
Visconti family, where arose just after the village called Belgioioso. The name "Zoioso" (that means joyful) was
perhaps attributed to the castle for the pleasantness of the place and the happiness that once you should have felt
staying there.

Duke Gian Galeazzo II stayed there several times: he loved this place so much that, with a letter on the 22 of
December 1393, he prohibited the hunting of deer or any other game in the area that goes from Belgioioso up to
Bereguardo-Vigevano and Abbiategrasso. In addition, this will is also mentioned in the famous testament in 1397 in
which the Duke ordered the building of a monastery, and a house for the cloistered monastic order in the territory of
Pavia, in suffrage of his soul. The duke, however, excluded from the donations to the Carthusians the big park at the
Castle of Pavia and his possessions in Bereguardo and Belgioioso.

Closing Lunch at Restaurant Bardelli, located just a few steps from the Covered Bridge, on the Ticino river bank.
The setting is that of a typical Liberty house, built at the end of 1800, inaugurated as the headquarters of the
Association Batteglieri Colombo, the first Nautical Association in Pavia.
When the association moved from here, the building was used as a shipbuilding site, well known in all the region for
the technical and aesthetic quality of the famous "Barcè", a typical boat used with a single oar.
Around 1960 the shipyard turned into a beautiful restaurant with local cuisine.

After the flood occurred on the 7 of November 1994, the building has been fully renovated with care, maintaining
the elegant air you can breathe in the ancient taverns.

CATERING TERMS AND CONDITIONS
For lunch / dinner / cocktails a minimum and sometimes a maximum number of participants is required.

In case of failure to achieve the minimum number by 31 March 2013, the organization could decide to cancel a lunch, dinner or
refreshment, in which case the relevant amount would be reimbursed.
If maximum numbers are not attained, CHAINE may decide, at its sole discretion, whether or not to accept any further bookings
after the deadlines.
Any reservation will be confirmed once payment is received.

Penalties will be not applied for any cancellation made not later than the 10 April 2013, while those made after this date will be
subjected to a penalty of 100%.
HOTEL TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Hotel reservations will be confirmed only upon receipt of payment corresponding to the entire cost of the stay.
There are no penalties for cancellations or reductions of stay notified within 60 (sixty) days before the date of arrival;
The penalty is due for one night's stay for any cancellation or reduction of stay reported between 59 (fifty-nine) and 30
(thirty) days before the date of arrival.
There will be a penalty of 100% for any cancellation or reduction of stay between 29 (twenty-nine) days before the arrival
date and the arrival.
Hotel rates will be valid for bookings received up to 10th May 2013; after this date for any further request our office will apply
individual tariffs for each case based on hotel availability; this means we cannot guarantee contracted rates and availability after
the 10th May 2013.
The rates given hereunder are valid for stays of 2 consecutive nights from May 10th, 2013.
Any request for different dates and stays will be quoted separately from our office upon receipt of such requests.
All prices include VAT and breakfast.
Any extras (telephone, mini bar, restaurant, laundry, taxes, etc..) will be charged to the participant on the spot and must be paid
directly to the hotel at the check-out.
Check - in is guaranteed from 03.00 pm and check - out is by 10:00 am.
