- LUCENA CLINI C A service of the Order of St. John of God
" God Is Love "
Lucena was the name of
the house and the first
hospital which Saint John of
God opened in 1537 in the
city of Granada, Spain. John
had prayed:
"God, grant me the favour
and the time of having a
house of hospitality w here
the abandoned poor and
the menta lly ill can be
treated as I wish to treat
them"
To honour the 5th
centenary of the birth of
Sain t John of God in 1495,
the Order has renamed
its child and adolescent
mental health services as
Lueena Clinic.
The Order wishes to extend
the same hospitality shown
by John to everyone who
came seeking help, healing
or shelter at his house on
Lucena Street, to every
child and family coming
to any of the clinics at
Rathgar; Taliaght;
Dun Laoghaire, Bray,
Wicklow and Arklow.
