How to Survive ‘til Next Summer, part I
Let’s face it. It’s a long time until next summer. But that doesn’t mean we have
to sit and twiddle our thumbs. Straight from the desk of Ronald Springs, we
present your guide for surviving until next summer.
1
1. Put your head in your shirt with
your face showing out the hole.
2
Create Your Own Canteen!
Stock your refrigerator and pantry with
nothing but sugar. Cheerwine, Snickers,
Rolos, Fun Dip. You can run your own
canteen. Open it whenever you want!
Just don’t forget your vegetables.
Practice Your Ninja Skills!
First, you gotta get the dress right. See
diagram for proper ninja mask
application. Gotta be ready for
Commando!!!
peers, members, employees, or vendors.
2. Tie the sleeves behind your
head.
3
3,4. Fold the loose material
around your eyes
4
First, determine the audience of the
newsletter. This could be anyone who
might benefit from the information it
contains, for example, employees or
people interested in purchasing a
product or requesting your service.
You can compile a mailing list from
business
reply cards, customer
5
information sheets, Business cards
collected at trade shows, or membership
lists. You might consider purchasing a
mailing list from a company.
If you explore the Project Gallery, you
will find many publications that match the
style of your newsletter.
Next, establish how much time and
money you can spend on your
newsletter. These factors will help
determine how frequently you publish the
newsletter and its length. It’s
recommended that you publish your
newsletter at least quarterly so that it’s
considered a consistent source of
information. Your customers or
employees will look forward to its arrival.

Morning Exercises!
Wise Chief Once Say…
We highly recommend a lengthy
set of two or three finger
bends. Gotta stay limber.
Grab a headdress and run around
shirtless for an hour every Sunday night.
Don’t forget to finish your homework.
And build your repertoire of wise chief
sayings. They may come in handy.
Here’s a few that we remember:
Wise Chief once say…
•
Forgiveness is divine, but never
pay full price for late pizza.
•
Never play leapfrog with a unicorn.
•
Many men bite, but Fu Manchu.
•
Man who go to bed wearing
corduroy wake up feeling groovy.
Clean is Overrated!
Messy games might be hard to start, but
once you’re filthy, it’s a blast! It’s time to
build up your messy threshold. We
recommend a chocolate syrup bath at
least once a week.
“Yes, I am the vine; you are
the branches. Those who
remain in me, and I in them,
will produce much fruit. For
apart from me you can do
nothing. John 15:5
So you may remember the Transformers
movie, and you may remember the
Camp Ridgecrest Transformed T-Shirt
with a tree on the front, but do you
remember what your counselor shared?
Do you remember the morning watches
and Devotions? Just like the seasons
change and the trees at camp are bright
red, orange and yellow this time of year.
You too can be transformed. As you
follow Jesus, some parts of your life will
fall away, just like the leaves this time of
year. You may no longer want to do
some things and you may find some
things around you are changing. And for
a moment it may not seem as good. But
just like the leaves falling off the trees
make room for new growth, things in
your life are stripped away to make room
for things that are even better.
Remember that the spring is coming.
Remember that God has new growth,
more beautiful growth, a more full life in
mind for you. At one point you were
created to be like kings living in paradise
with God. Somehow along the way we
have settled for much less. I challenge
you now to let your life be transformed.
Let God move in you and around you. It
is there that you will find real life!
Were you
Transformed?

Walker Hayes, a New Country Star
Walker Hayes is an up and coming
country music star, living in Nashville, TN.
He spends his days writing songs at the
Music Group, Intl., and just finished
recording his debut album under Capitol
Records. But before his music career,
Hayes had a camp career.
A camper from 1991 to 1998 and a staffer
from 2001 to 2003, Hayes is known in the
ranks of the Ridgecrest nation as Little
Chief Sterling Spirit. And even today, he
still remembers his amazing camp
experiences and friendships.
“Camp wasn’t about the site,” Hayes said,
recalling a recent visit to camp. “Camp
changes, but it’s the people that you meet
there and the bonds that you form [that
make the experience].”
Hayes is married with three children and
can’t wait until his 2-year-old son, Chapel,
is old enough to go to camp.
“I wouldn’t give up [the experience of]
being a camper and working at camp for
the world. I’ve gotten way closer to
buddies from camp than high school and
college combined.”
Hayes also attributes Ron Springs,
camp’s director, as a definite influence
on his musical career.
“Sometimes, I call camp just to hear
Ron’s voice on the answering machine,”
Hayes added jokingly. “There’s
something about Ron’s voice. It’s just
awesome.”
You can visit Walker Hayes on his
website (walkerhayes.com) where six
of his songs are available to download
for free. And be sure to check out his
album, which is scheduled for release
in April.
