We recommend that they do a speaking up workshop to make sure that people understand the Bill Of Rights Just4U to develop a complaints procedure in an easy read version. Poole Forum could help with this work. This could be a complaints, compliments and comments leaflet as it is good to hear about what is going well and what could be better. This will help to show people are speaking up and comfortable with sharing their feelings about being at Just4U. Remember that complaints are good! They show you are listening to the people using the service and acting on any concerns. You could always adopt a Complaints, Comments and Compliments policy enabling people to tell you good things or suggestions. This will help to show you are listening even if the complaints do not come in. We recommend that you continue to run regular workshops on complaints. This will help people to understand that they can complain about things at Just4U or in services which they might use We recommend that you run workshops about abuse and how to report abuse. We will arrange to send you leaflets about abuse and what happens when this is reported. You can also find information on the Safeguarding Adults website. The link to the leaflet is here http://www.bpsafeguardingadultsboard.com/uploads/7/4/8/9/74891967/bpsab_stop_abuse_leaflet_v_17___ new_logo__29_mar_12.pdf You can also display a stop abuse poster and here is the link for this http://www.bpsafeguardingadultsboard.com/uploads/7/4/8/9/74891967/bpsab_stop_abuse_poster__new_lo go__29_mar_12.pdf Support for quieter people to speak up. Perhaps ask people to put their hand up if they are not heard or use a traffic light system (Information to be sent) We recommend that you keep a note of staff training and dates attended so you know when refresher training is due We will send you a copy the Good Practice Guidance for Providers of Day Opportunities 24 Lunch time was unsupervised. On further discussion with Cathi and Robin we found out this was the time that the staff took their break. People could ask for help if they need it. The people who use Just4U are very independent people People who need more support with a support worker are unable to access Just4U. This is because people who use the service do not like to have extra support staff in their group People need to be able to access the community independently. This is explained when people phone up and find out about Just4U. This means people who need support with their mobility would not be able to attend The hall, toilet and room got cold at times but it was a cold day The toilets were a bit messy but the church are responsible for the toilets 25 Good balance of table top activities and community activities Just4U have a mini bus. This is not wheelchair accessible. It is used to pick people up who would not be able to attend without help to get there and also when the group go to places like Southampton and Swanage When going to activities, Just4U use public transport when they can and hope this will help people build confidence travelling independently Just4U have risk assessments on activities and do regular fire training and practices along with the people who run and use the church Everyone looked happy and ready to join in. Lots of interaction and fun People at Just4U made lots of decisions about their day and what they eat and drink Socialising with other groups of people who have learning disabilities in the community, promoting friendship outside of Just4U Activities are included in the price of attending Just4U People could heat food up and have hot meals that they buy or bring in Lola the therapy dog was very popular with the group. She helped someone to be calm and join in the group in a positive way Some people have found it difficult to join in other activities. Just4U considered what to offer to help the individual cope with their feelings and behaviour. The individuals are now involved and happy in the group 26 27 no yes 28
