About Oakland Hockey
Oakland University Men’s Hockey team participates in the American Collegiate Hockey Association in the
Division I ranks. Hockey began at OU in the late 90’s with immediate success, winning two ACHA DII National Titles in 2004 and 2006 and capturing the ACHA DI National Title in 2007. The Grizzlies also won
the 2011 GLCHL Playoff Championship, The 2012 GLCHL regular season title and finished #2 in the nation in
2012 after playing in the National Championship game. 2012 also saw the Grizzlies win the “Good Luck Duck
Series.”
The Grizzlies also know the importance in giving back to our community, including playing a charity game for
the Yellow Ribbon Fund in 2011 against Michigan Heroes. The Yellow Ribbon Fund was created to provide
support for injured service personnel returning home and being treated at military hospitals.
The Grizzlies also invite local youth teams and their families to attend our games and some skate during our
intermissions.
Oakland Hockey is a non-profit organization (501c3) and your donation is tax-deductible.
We have many opportunities for you business to contribute to the success of our program while making your
business stronger. Oakland Hockey is a non-varsity program in the American Colligate Hockey Associtaion
(ACHA) our players pay between $1,500-$3,000 a season, which goes to ice bills, safe travel, hotels and more.
Our staff is a volunteer staff and your contribution is important to us.
Your support will also help us raise funds which will help us toward our goal of lowering the cost to play for our
student athletes
We play out of the ONYX Ice Arena in Rochester, MI and have several fundraisers throughout the season which
help the team raise funds but it is not enough.
In this marketing guide you will see several ways you can contribute to Oakland Hockey and gain exposure for
your business.
We are also grateful for your donation of items such as gift cards for example that we can use in one of our
fundraisers to raffle throughout the season. Home games typically draw anywhere from 300-750 fans a game.
