Director’s Corner
Dear Participants & Members,
After plentiful feedback from volunteers, thoughtful consideration and appreciation for our volunteers here at
the Florence Douglas Senior Center we will no longer
be voting on one Volunteer of the year. However, I
have decided to continue the Volunteer Appreciation
Dinner in April. We will be recognizing our valuable volunteers of the center with a Certificate of Appreciation
for their number of years of service. My hope is to ensure everyone feels appreciated for their dedication and
support for the center with special recognition and appreciation.
Please be sure to keep your volunteer sign in sheet
up-to-date. If you don’t complete the sign in sheet, we
don’t know you are sharing your time, talent, and
treasure!!!
Our Travel Department lately has been forced to cancel
trips because of lack of signups for the various trips
scheduled. It is out of our control if the travelers don’t
meet the minimum number of travelers required by the
tour company. Secondly many of the casinos are
providing buses at various stops in Vallejo each day of
the week at a reduced cost or free.
Because of this, we are working to resolve the problem
on canceling trips due to lack of signups. I am working
with our Travel Coordinator, Sue Demotta and travel
volunteers to create a travel survey and plan an
advertising campaign to increase the number of travelers on the trips. Your patience and suggestions are
appreciated while we work together to improve your
Travel Department at the center.
