How to Plan a Toga Party
The objective of the Toga party is to create a fun, safe environment for your friends to enjoy the
awesome comfort of the Toga. Below is a list of materials the host will need in order to create a
toga, prepare the house, as well as create a unique refreshment for their guests.
The following instructions will guide a person through the process of preparing for and hosting a
Toga party as well as list the materials and projected budget for the party.
Projected budget: $250
Your budget and preference determines what alcohol and how much of it you provide. Keep this
in mind when planning.
For additional information on hosting a Toga Party, refer to the links in our Troubleshooting
Section.
Happy planning! Have fun!

Safety Precautions When throwing a Toga party, always drink responsibly and be mindful of the law and personal
health of yourself and your guests. As always when drinking, all guests and participants in the
party must be of 21 years of age or older and in the privacy of your property. To be a responsible
host you should do the following:
Remove unattended drinks from the party.
Watch for people who have had too much to drink. Signs of this are:
o slurred speech
o swaying
o red eyes
o flushed complexion
Create a safe zone for people who have had too much to drink and need to lie down. A
quiet bedroom where they will not be disturbed is optimal.
Keep guests away from front yard.
Take the keys of guests who have had too much to drink to prevent them from driving
while intoxicated.
Hide potentially dangerous objects. (knives, etc) and breakable objects (vases, etc)
Only invite people that you know.
Put out snacks, such as bread or pretzels for people to eat to lessen the effect of alcohol.
Have one person stay sober to manage the party and guests.
Have plenty of water available for guests.
Inform guests that illegal drugs are not allowed into the party or to be used at any time.
Have only one entrance open to regulate guests.
Know how much you and your guests are drinking.

Preparing the House

Preparing the House
After acquiring the materials for the party, you can start preparing your house for the guest. The
following steps are basic procedures to ready your house.
1. Clean house
This is to ensure the main rooms are free of debris so guests do not trip over clutter or sit
in garbage or laundry. It will also make the clean-up process after the party much easier.
Figure 2, Clean Living Room, http://www.timticks.com/wp-content/uploads/remarkable-clean-living-room-decoration.jpg
2. Set up a space in the kitchen for liquor, beer, and Jell-O shots to be served out
of coolers.
Figure 3. Drink Set Up. http://cassibry.files.wordpress.com/2011/03/philly-bartender.jpg
11
3. Lock all ‘off-limits’ rooms.
These are all the rooms you don’t want people to go into. (Leave at least one room available for people to lay down in if they have had too much to drink)

4. Hide valuable items in a secure place.
Such as the locked bedrooms.

5. Set Up Music.
Use a space in your main party room for the speakers to be set. You can even run music
through your TV speakers or have a friend bring their speakers if you don’t have your own.

Jell-O Shots
14
Preparing the Jell-O Shots
1. Mix the water and alcohol to make 2 cups.
The proportions will depend on the proof of the alcohol you use. Use the following ratios to
ensure that the shots will set:
13 oz. of 30 to 50 (~20%) proof alcohol with 3 oz. water
10 oz. 80 to 100 (~45%) proof alcohol with 6 oz. water
6 oz. 150 to 200 proof alcohol with 10 oz. water
Figure 7 Alcohol Mixture. http://www.wikihow.com/Make-Jello-Shots
2. Refrigerate mixture until chilled.
The mixture must completely chilled before moving onto the next step. If the alcohol isn't
cold, it is easier for the alcohol to evaporate. This will make your shots less potent and waste
alcohol.
Figure 8 Refrigerate Alcohol Mixture. http://www.wikihow.com/Make-Jello-Shots
15
1. Boil 1 ¼ cup of water.
The Mixture needs exactly 1 cup of water when you boil it, so to avoid losing too much water
from evaporation, add an extra ¼ cup of water.
Figure 9 Boil Water. http://www.wikihow.com/Make-Jello-Shots
2. Stir in the 1 cup boiled water with the chilled water and alcohol mixture and JellO powder.
3. Stir until powder is completely dissolved.
Figure 10 Stir in Powder. http://www.wikihow.com/Make-Jello-Shots
16
4. Pour the mixture into the cups so they are half full.
Figure 11 Pour Mixture into Cups. http://www.wikihow.com/Make-Jello-Shots
5. Chill shots in refrigerator until they firm. (2-4 hours)
Now your shots are ready to be served at the party.

Creating Your Toga
18
Wrapping Your Toga
There are many ways to create an elegant Toga. For this manual we will create one of the easiest and
most popular versions. This style can be used for both males and females, the men’s version will starts at the hips rather than the chest. Wear this with sandals and laurel crowns to complete the
Roman/ Greek look.
For Women
1. Fold sheet length wise.
Figure 13 Folding Sheet, Actor: Rachel
2. Hold sheet behind you with the top corners in your hands.
The sheet may be longer than your arm length, if this is the case grab the part of the sheet
that you can reach.

3. Tuck the left corner behind your back.
The sheet will wrap around your body to the middle of your back. You can wear a bandeau
or strapless top and tuck the corner.

4. Wrap the right corner across your chest.
This will go completely around your body, as if wrapping a towel. This will cover the left
corner.

5. Throw the remaining fabric over your left shoulder.

6. Pin the bottom of the newly formed strap to the top of the toga in the back.
