Cart Horse Newsletter Christmas 2013
Rescued cart horse Christmas at her new home. She was confiscated for wandering after her stable mates were killed by a train. Thank you to Jo at Horse About for providing Christmas with a wonderful new life. “Whenever we go up to the paddock she stops grazing and comes straight over to put her head against you – loves her rubs and scratches. She wasn’t supposed to be on the ride, but doesn’t like being left behind so brings herself into the saddling area and just stands there.. :) while everyone walks past. She brings tears to my eyes every day when I see the trust she has given us! Thanks again for saving her!! ” - Jo Joyce was confiscated in June after cart horse angel Eve reported her sighting of Joyce’s driver whipping her. Joyce was immediately escorted to CHPA’s Epping clinic and taken to the Cart Horse Recovery and Rehabilitation Centre where she has remained pending the court case. Joyce recently gave birth to a beautiful, strong and healthy colt. Both mom and baby are doing very well. Joyce is featured in the Cart Horse Calendar for the month of December! Mom giving shade while baby sleeps Time for some food Wide awake and ready to explore! ❤ Chris and Shirleen Banks for their generous donation to pay for the tiling of the cottage at our Recovery and Rehabilitation Centre. This donation will help us generate an income from the guest cottage that we would like to rent out. ❤ Mrs Harding and Victoria Hill have generously sponsored the cost of new windows installed into the stables at the Recovery and Rehabilitation Centre. By opening the stables up a bit more the equine will be able to be kept cool in summer. ❤ Lesley Jones and her daughter donated a brand new saddle to our RR Centre complete with numnah and stirrups. Thank you for this very lovely gift. We are delighted to announce that Beauford, Appels, Sir Robert, Mona, Socks and Queen Victoria have all found new homes, just in time for Christmas! Mona was confiscated in mid September. She was underweight, wore badly fitting shoes, had the wrong ID board, and was being driven by an unlicensed driver. She is now living on a beautiful farm with plenty of friends to keep her company. Queen Victoria has joined old friend Beauty. Visit our Facebook page for more pictures. The woman in the photo is one of the police women who pulled her over because they were not happy with the way she looked. Marlene got scolded for blowing her nose on the car in the background - messing up a crime scene! I was just pleased she did it, because it seemed like a nice, healthy, thing to do, showing that she was relaxing.“ Marlene spent 3 weeks at the R&R to rest and pick up weight.
