Well done Kristyl!! GRADE 6 congratulate all the children on their concentration and efforts during what has been a busy time. Well done boys and girls and once the results are known, all reports concerning the NAPLAN testing program will be conveyed to all relevant parents. Results are known in term 3. Mother’s Day … We had some very excited children who celebrated Mother’s Day on Sunday. Likewise the Mother’s Day activities at the school allowed the children to showcase some of their skills and involve mum in the process. At the assembly we had each class perform, but certainly recognise the need for a new PA system. The new PA system has been ordered and we look forward to further events using the PA where all the quiet voices can be heard by the audience. OUR SCHOOL VALUES: GRADE 5 Education Week … Next week is Education week, and as we have had so many happenings in the previous few weeks, we are offering parents the opportunity to come along on Monday morning to view their children in a ‘normal’ class environment. Therefore the school open morning will be from 9-11.30am on Monday 21 May. Finally, I would like to congratulate Wren, Clayton, Jackson and Rhys who will be representing Napoleons Primary School in the Regional Cross Country Championships tomorrow at Victoria Park. We look forward to hearing how they go and congratulate all participants in making it to the next level. Enjoy your weekend, Trevor RESPECT RESPONSIBILITY REWARDING PERSONAL BEST BBQ FOR SALE The school has a BBQ, inclusive of an outdoor kitchen for sale. It is in good condition but is no longer of use to the school as it is very difficult to store. We would first of all like to offer it to the school community. We, as a School Council, are asking for the best price above $350 as at June 1st. If you are interested please contact Trevor at the school. PREMIER’S READING CHALLENGE At this stage we have about 30% of our students involved in the Premier’s Reading Challenge. We would love to get this number up to 100%, as other schools in the district have. The Premier’s Reading Challenge promotes reading age appropriate books and gives both parents and students a way of tracking their reading habits. We encourage all students who have not enrolled to collect an enrolment form from the office and we’ll guide you through the process. At the end of the challenge students will receive a fantastic certificate and are acknowledged in the Melbourne newspapers. See Mrs Pugh for further details. By Abby Moekotte WINTER SPORTS FOOTBALL REPORT On Friday 11th of May grade 4,5,6 had winter sport and the football team vs. Smythesdale and we won by 10 goals and 4 points. It was our second win for the year. I, Jack. G, was the captain for the team and our coach was Brad P, he was awesome and he gave us heaps of tips and I think Mr Edwards is fired. We play at Smythesdale and if you want to come along you just drive to Smythesdale and you can watch us if you want to. This week we vs. Ross creak and our captain this week is Steven and the vice-captain is Trent. Two weeks ago we vs. combined and we won. Good job boys for our 2 wins. Winter Sports-Netball and Netta Part of the winter sports program is Netball and Netta. For anyone that doesn’t know what Netta is, it’s a form of netball but it has a few things that make it easier to play like, you can hold the ball for longer and the ring is closer to the ground then netballs ring. Most people in grade 4 and 5 play netta this year because the netball team was full of grade 6 girls before netta was full. We started winter sports 2 weeks ago and we play at Smythesdale. The netball lost their 1st game against combined schools, which are little schools that don’t have enough players to form a whole team, so the little schools get together to form a whole team, so they can play in a game. However the netball team won their 2nd game against Scarsdale and the scores were 6 to Scarsdale and 11 to us, Napoleons, we won by 5 goals. Netta lost their 1st game against combined schools, but came back and won their 2 nd game against Scarsdale. Well done girls, keep on training hard and don’t forget to have the best time you can!
