Proshow Gold (V5.0) - Burnaby Photographic Society
Creating an Executable File for Showcase Proshow Gold (V5.0) Showcase requires a few specifics in order to project onto the large theatre screen. The required setup information for Proshow Gold will be displayed in the following instructions. Our new projector is much sharper and the colors are rendered much better than our old projector. The new projector has a resolution of 1400 x 1050 whereas the old one was limited to 1024 x 768. This gives us a much larger and brighter image on the screen. Therefore, your shows will look much better than they did at the old settings. Once your show is completed and you have saved it and done your “collect show files” you can then proceed to make a PC Executable File for submission to Showcase. ProShow Gold Illustration 1 The basic settings and instructions are provided here for creating the executable file required for projection. In Proshow Gold, go to Edit > Preferences and select Playback on the left-hand side of the dialogue box. Under Rendering set the Target Size to 1400 x 1050. The images will then be as sharp in the preview screen and on full-screen playback as they were in your original editing software. (Note: Also set the Software Fallback Resolution to 1400 x 1050. Creating an Executable File for Showcase This shouldn't create any problems unless you have a very old system (1990's) but if it does then you may have to reset this back to 800 x 600. ProShow Gold Illustration 2 Next, select Show Defaults from the left-hand column and then under Default Slide Settings click on the button next to Transition Effect. Select the transition called Crossfade (Blend) from the pop-up window. It’s the AB icon with the gray gradient background (not the one with the white and gray triangles). The transition with the AB triangle icon may cause a 'jittery' transition. Under Default Motion Settings set Easing to Pan - Smooth Under Default Image Settings set Scaling to Fit to frame Any other settings are to be determined by you. The above are the only ones that are necessary to comply with the new projector. Blank Slides and Sound Track Your show should start and end with a blank slide of at least 3 seconds. This is to allow the projectionist enough time to start the show and then pause it before the music and images begin. Then, when the emcee finishes the introduction to your show the projectionist just releases the pause to start your show. With a blank slide at the start of your show it will be necessary to shift the sound track to the left by 3 seconds so that it starts at the same time as your show. This is easy to do: In either Slide List view or Timeline view, right-click on the first sound track in your show, then in the resulting pop-up leftclick on Manage Soundtracks. Creating an Executable File for Showcase If ProShow Gold Illustration 3 In the pop-up as shown above click in Offset box and enter 3.0. This will move your sound track 3 seconds to the right of the start position and inline with your actual show. You are now ready to create the executable (.exe) file ProShow Gold Illustration 4 Go to the top toolbar and select Publish and then select Executable. Then go to and click on the Set Menu Title and remove anything that appears in that box. Now you can click on the Set Menu Thumbnail where the following window (Illustration 7) will open. Creating an Executable File for Showcase ProShow Gold Illustration 7 Here you choose a thumbnail picture for your menu. If you wish to use a picture that is already in your show then select it by clicking your mouse in the box beside Slide from Show. Your show images will be shown in a horizontal display and you can use the slider underneath the pictures to scroll through and select your image by highlighting the one of your choice. Once you have highlighted your image you can then click on OK to complete the process. If you change your mind and wish to choose another image you can just repeat the process. Once this is completed click on OK to go back to the main window. If you wish to use an image other that those already in your show you would instead then choose Image from File again by clicking your mouse in the box beside it to select it. You would then be required to click on the Browse button to locate the image on your computer. Once you have found it highlight the image in the pictures displayed by clicking on it and then click on Open to complete the process. The file you selected will then appear in the box complete with the path to the file. If you change your mind and wish to choose another image you can just repeat the process.
